So, as Kol is unable to run our joint NOTW, I'll be running a simpler one

Return to Foxford

Two generations had passed since the inhabitants of Foxford had met the full wrath of the Baron Duin Halfmorn, and the village had regained strength with immigration from the central Elohim cities. No sign is left of the dark days of the past. True, no child is named Sonne, anymore, and there are claw marks on the bar of the pub, but in reality, the stories of the past are largely forgotten, tales to be told over a frothing mug of dwarven ale. It is over one of these mugs that this story begins…
Old Kol the hermit had come in for a beer, and, clutching it in his two hands, he crouched in the corner, mumbling to himself. The villagers paid no heed, as even the youngest was used to him.
This particular day was dark and stormy, the wind buffeting old leaves and branches about, and most of the village had gathered in the warmth and safety of the Inn.
IN a crash of thunder, the door of the inn slammed open, an, in it, stood, silhouetted by the lightning, a large figure of a man. The villagers all started in fear, some starting to surreptitiously make their way towards the back door of the Inn.
The figure strode towards the innkeeper, shaking behind his bar. “Innkeeper. I will need lodging for the night.” The voice was that of a high Elohim noble, a companion to Ethne herself. At it’s sound, Kol yelped and, in pure terror, ran out of the Inn.
“Of course, my lord,” bowed the Innkeeper “our best lodgings!” As he led the way upstairs, the noble turned to look upon the assembled villagers. On his belt was a beautifully ornate officer’s whip, and the assembly gasped covetously. The Noble looked out at them, and, grinned a feral grin before turning up to the second floor.

If it wasn't for an English credit and Government I could of graduated my Junior year. And yes AP Euro is easy, got a four on the test because the DBQ was on child rearing (Yes like we'll talk about raising children in history). Just wait till you take Government, it's one of the easiest and funnest classes I got a five on it.

No, I'm the opposite. I go on vacation in a couple of weeks and won't have computer access for ~ 12 days. I'm thinking I should just drop out now. Even if you were to start it today, I'd only be around for maximum four or five "days" of the game, and I don't see any point in joining a game I know there's no chance to see the end of.

I guess that's one less PM you have to write. :(

Morning 0- an odd feeling

The storm of the night before had completly blown itself out, and the villagers awoke to find themselves in a beautiful spring day. the sun shown down on the village, and the soaked ground steamed...
It was to this beauty that the stranger descended from his room. He was a handsome man, though looked somewhat brutal. On his face was a feral grin... the same as the one that had been on his face the previous night.
"Well, well, Tsk, tsk! Foxford, foxford, foxford... you never learn, do you? Give it back now, and nothing will happen... if not... well... Legend has spoken" all was silent,as the villagers waited n silence.
the Stranger sighed "too bad" and his glance fell on the shape of beautiful Sonya, the amyor Vehem's Daughter. She was widely reputed to be the most beautiful girl in all of Elohia...
"perfect" he muttered to himself, and, calling for his things, he left at a gallope towards the distance...

Day 0 is roleplay day (nothing bad has happened yet) and will end tomorrow at approximatly this time.

The old hermit stepped slowly out of his home. Struggling to climb down the three stone steps that lead from his front door to the main square of the village.

''My, Oh my, have these step got steeper.'' He grumbled cheerfully to himself, oblivious to the crowds of people in the main square.

He slowly began to focus on the villagers in the crowd around him. He pushed his brown, cloth hood down off his head, and his long, silver hair fell to his sholders. His face was wrinkled with laughter lines and his expression was warm and good-natured.

He turned silently in the direction that everyone else seemed to be staring in, and waited expectantly for someone to fill him in on what had been happening.

''Something bad always comes of it'' the hermit mumbled sadly. ''I smell unwashed werewolf in the air.''

"There's no reason for that kind of talk, old man. The last thing we need is wild speculation".

Part of the hermit's quiet declaration rang true however - something bad did always come of late. There had been a time when leading the village had been no more complicated than solving disputes over livestock or organizing new buildings to accomodate for the ever expanding populace. He had been appointed Mayor and his leadership had been respected.

Lately though, his words had fallen on deaf ears. Events outside the village - once so distant - seemed to cast a shadow of fear over them all. It seemed the whole of Erebus was in chaos and visitors to the village told many a harrowing tale. The villagers had become withdrawn and fearful - the spirit of community had left this home.

The only way forth was through co-operation and rebuilding that spirit - but perhaps there were more pressing issues to deal with first.

As usual, the first noise that shattered the peace of the early morning for the townspeople was an explosion. This was followed with some disconcerting banging and culminated three seconds later in what sounded rather suspiciously like a gunshot that echoed throughout the town and died unceremoniously.

This was followed with the throwing open of a tin door, which slammed against the wall and made a clang that could be felt deep within the bones.

The Tinker was ready for business. She proceeded to ignore everything around her and whack away on one of her strange new creations, at least until she got bored.

The wandering monk kept to the back of the crowd. Clearly this was not a good time to be a stranger in town. Thankfully it seemed obvious which stranger was guilty, so maybe there was no reason to worry. He took a deep breath and started to speak.

That, friends, are the marks of a werewolf. Do you remember your history? The Baron cursed your village once, and now he has cursed you again. And I fear this time he may succeed, that there will be no survivors...

Chandrasekhar
Sep 24, 2008, 07:23 PM
Certainly, if I had a master, now would be the time to hide in his shadow, but alas, he is no longer with us, and so I live the contradictory existence of an apprentice without a master. I had thought to hide in plain sight instead, but since I have been called upon, I shall break my silence.

To save myself in this day of sparse voting, it appears that I must vote for Bard BananaLee to be executed, though I dislike the lack of evidence.

The Hermit sits silently on the stone steps, in deep thought. He wonders why people are so ready to excecute other villagers with no evidence against them. Wouldn't this only make it easier for the werewolves? Don't we need every man we have? Surely the person that suggested or is leading the excecution is an agent of evil. He opens his eyes and says one word:

Evening One- a lucky guess
The Innkeeper struggled against the bonds that held him. His fat and jolly face, usually illuminated by the light of joviality, hospitality, and one drink to many was now pale and deathlike in fear. A cold sweat rolled down his forehead, and as he looked into the cold faces of some of the village, and the sympathy of the rest, he at last broke down and began pleading.
“please! Please don’t kill me. I’m just a simple man, serving you all for years. I loved Sonya like a daughter! Please!” this continued as the innkeeper was brought to the giant Oak in the middle of the village.
A noose hung from one of the branches, and, as the sun’s lower edge was swallowed by the Horizon, the Innkeeper’s head was passed through the noose.
The sun sank Quickly, and, with a final “please” the stool was kicked out from under him.
As the dying rays of the sun illuminated him, a transformation took place. His shrill “please” sank down to a feral growl. “Fools! you have killed only the weakest of us! Our will will be done. You’ll all sink under the terror of our reign.”
With a final convulsion, he died, taking the full shape of a Blooded werewolf.

Morning 2- Another Shock

The villagers awoke happy, knowing that they had killed one of the wolves… if one fell so easily, then how hard would it be to kill the rest?
Their enthusiasm was dampened somewhat when they saw the outside of the Tinker’s Caravan. The loyal Watchman, reverend oats, was dead, savaged. Though he must have died in sever pain, his face was peaceful and serene: he had died doing his duty, and to him, nothing was better than that.
Sobered, the Villagers examined the scene… Wolfish tracks appeared at the edge of the village square, and converged towards the Tinker’s hut. There, a few scratches on the door of the caravan indicated that they tried to break inside. There, according to the tracks, they had been set upon by the Watchman…

The Watchman was Innocent

The sounds of the metal clanging punched the townspeople in the face.

With tears in her eyes, the Tinker was applying herself to her creation--and gradually it took shape. A piece of scrap medal formed the shield wall. A long, twisted piece of iron made his spear, which was very, very long and compensated for the generally beat-up twisted look that the statue hade. It was the Watch, of course.

The Tinker placed the diminutive man in front of her house, the first piece of decoration that wasn't completely hideous she had ever deigned to beautify her house with.

There was never going to be one of the Innkeeper. Instead, a sign had took his place before the Watchman where his statue would have been.

"Death to all Wolves," was hammered in, singed red with blood.

Watching the accusations fly back and forth, the Bard picks up his lyre. Instantly, everyone turns around to listen to the Bard's sweet voice

Foxford, Oh Great Foxford,
Why hath thou deserved
This curse thou hast
The only thing preserved
From ages past, from days of yore
To thine toll, thou hast added four

Riddeth us of the wolf!
The townspeople cry,
And lynch the town must do
If we desireth them die.
Who should we vote, who do we choose?
To suffer their fate, to hang from the noose?

The Bard then shakes out of his pitiful reverie (and let's face it, he's a terrible poet) stares around and goes back into his reverie again. His voice could barely be heard

A lonely howling woke the villagers at the break of dawn. the sun rose over the village, and the villagers shambled into the Village square in groups of two or three, save the Blind man, who stumbled, alone and abandond, towards where he vould hear the growing rumble of the villager's voices.

As the Villagers took the head count, they cam to the realization that they were all there... there were no dead that night...

had the wolves given up? or was there a more sinister meaning...

A good idea, but it could prove to be counterproductive.

But first I'd like to hear an explanation from the so called prophet about the "proof" of the wolfishness of the poor Adrogans.

"Indeed it is time that the false prophet spoke her piece. By her urging an innocent woman of this town has been slain - are her words sufficient to also save her own skin? What possible reason can be given for the harm she has inflicted?"

"I say if she cannot defend herself, we hang D'Artagnan59 this very night. I also hope the village will not be so quick to believe such accusations again without actual proof, lest we fall prey to some Machiavellian werewolf's game".

Well, I was the false prophet. I must come forward.

I talked to my cats two nights ago, and they said Adrogans was a wolf. Looks like they were wrong. Therefore, I am the false prophet.

In fact, Vehem, why would you vote for me if I was one of the people that I told I was the prophet yesterday?

This makes no sense.

IC: D'artagnan, you are a fool! You have just admitted in front of the entire village that you are the one who spread the lies about Adrogans. You must now pay the price for your deception. You say your cats tell you? I say the werewolves tell you! D'artagnan

"In truth, because I didn't believe it then and tried to convince others not to follow your folly. I even suggested caution to you and warned that your "cats" might not be the most reliable of sooth-sayers, but you ignored that and continued to push.

An innocent is dead as a result."

I don't think we can trust it to be honest. We won't ever know if his ''cats'' are lying or telling the truth, making him useless as far as I see it. There's also the fact that he was so strongly motivated for killing Adrogans. All those rumours...

As far as I can see, D'art got an innocent killed. If he hadn't screwed up, we wouldn't have one less innocent. Thus, I vote for D'Artagnan59, especially since he may just be a false prophet misguiding us otherwise.

I do not think D'Artagnan is a wolf. She is just an old lady who believes her cats are talking to her. If the wolves can not murder someone last night why should we have to kill someone when there is no evidence there is even a wolf still in town. I shall be a part of this. There may have only been one wolf left and he might have left town. Is anyone missing?

Leave D'Artagnan alone and leave her to her cats. Her prophecies may be false. Chalk it up as senility or plain craziness but that is not enough reason to kill someone.

I vote for NOBODY

I suspected the old woman's words were false, but I followed them to catch a false prophet in a lie. But I didn't stop to consider that a false prophet isn't necessarily a wolf. I'm leaning towards that now, but I guess I'm too late to turn this around now, so better join the majority saying D'Artagnan. But my true suspicions lie elsewhere.

The cats seemed to know something was wrong, and coiled closely around D'artagnan's legs, hissing at the Villagers who came to bring her to the gallows. she hobbled forwards with the villagers, and though mopst had voted for her, most seemed to regret thier decision.
The Noose was passed around her neck, and, as she fell, her thin neck was snapped. nothing happened, and the villagers nodded sadly in silence...

The rising sun was darkened this morning. Heavy storm clouds loomed over the village, and the air was heavy and oppressive.
despite this, the villagers gathered in the square, performing the headcount that had become the sad tradition... and the count was one lower than that of the previous night. The ranger, though rarely present in the village, was, however, considered one of the community... many had liked him and come to trust him in the past days.
no more, as there he was, mauled and dismembered, and hanging in the noose that had been used to execute the others...

a cruel taunt towards the village.

J-Man was innocent

Villagers! by abstaining you allow the wolves to conceal themselves by depriving us of voting pattern evidence.

Now, J-Man, Jhoniten's strong defender, is shown to be innocent. Therefore, I no longer suspect Jhoniten. Likewise, as Rheinmetall and Frozen in Ice voted for me for accusing Jhoniten, I don't suspect them (wolves had no motivation to defend Jhoniten, and it made more sense to pile on Adrogans as it meant D'Art was doomed the next day). Izipo may be innoccent, or may have vbeen being tricksy (went for me yesterday).

For now, I vote Love[ for his unhelpful abstention, but am happy to change if anyonwe can produce real evidence.

I think it is cowardly to abstain. Collateral damage is inevitable when chasing werebeasts, and we cannot stop to cry over every innocent lost. It may sound harsh but that is the simple truth. Easier for me to say who is not born to this village, sure, but no less true. I cannot say I am certain, but we need to end this day, and better try and fail than not to try. Mergle.

That day, most of the village remained silent, leaving the “dirty duty” to the more vocal brethren. Interestingly, the vote centered on one of the most vocal, The Wanderer Mergle. Though not a local, Mergle was not to be spared the punishment that the village metted out to those they deemed a threat… as any determined a werewolf would be in these dark times.
Mergle was dragged and bound in the center of the village. He was silent and impassive, until the noose was placed around his Neck. With his last breaths, he spoke:
“Cahir Abbey, Never will I look upon thy golden domes and gilded walls, for here I rest, murdered falsely for a cause not my own.”
He stepped from the stool, and died, quckly and silently. As his body was examined, a small medallion, bearing the coat of arms of the Regent of Cahir Abbey was found around his neck. His purse carried more money than most of the village had ever seen.

Mergle was innocent, a younger son of one of the great families of Elohia

MOrning: Demons...
The remaining villagers woke that morning to the cawing of the cripple's birds. the cripple lay in the village square, dragged from his hut by his murderers. to the villager's horror, he lay facedown in the center of a pentacle created from his own entrails. However, even more horrifying was, branded and tattoed into his back was a pentacle of intricate, and evil, a pentacle of which the entrail one was but a crude caricature...

The villagers chased the birds away, and burned the body... but that did not change the fact: Rheinmetall had been a follower of the Ashen Viel.

as the Blind man asked in loneliness what was happening, the villagers set to thier day, shaken and mistrustful... for if rhienmetall had fallen to corruption, who was safe
