View Full Version : Death By U.N. Vote

I learned today, that not only one can assign cities to someone else by a U.N. vote, but also assign the capital to someone else. If the unfortunate owner of that capital doesn't have any other city, all others (and of course he himself) then have a vote whether to kill him or let him live.

In my last game I already had launched my spaceship (one turn before Pericles launched his...my closest spacerace ever), when the resolution popped up to assign Hannibals last city and capital to me. Although he was my vassal, I took that chance (I had regrets about taking him as vassal anyway) and the next turn he was gone, killed by the agreement of all others to have him removed

But why he didn't defy that resolution is beyond me. :crazyeye:

That's pretty cool, actually.

But why he didn't defy that resolution is beyond me.:crazyeye: Maybe he didn't want to deal with the unhappiness?
But I have to wonder if the AI 'knows' to defy the resolution if it's their last city, assuming of course that they get a say in it.
Has this happened to anyone else perhaps?

Um, You can do this? What are the pre-reqs? I've never seen this option

Something to do with the percentage of different nations' culture in a city.

Putting himself out of his misery, I suppose.

Maybe because he was your vassal. Did he vote in favour of the resolution? If so, he may have been doing his vassally duty by voting for a resolution that favoured his master.

I'd imagine it's the same as reassigning a city via AP vote; the city has a high amount of the other civs culture but can't revolt due to military presence.

Ahh, Gotcha.

Do you have any idea how fun it is assigning Berlin, London and Rome to you when you control the AP on an 18 civ map?

To be more specific, military count in the city is irrelevant to the resolution, although it certainly helps vs standard revolts and flipping.

All that is required is that the city have more of a foreign civ's culture than it does of the current civ. It doesn't even have to be over 50% if there are more than 2 civs with culture in the city.

Mebey that is what should happen when a diplomatic victory is achived. (everyones citys end up in the control of the one voted in.)

Something like that happened with the Apolostic Palace, in Rhye's and Fall; with me as the Netherlands against Germany. I rushed him early game, and as luck would have it, captured Meinz and Hamourgh. Of course, he recovered quite well, but his Civ was horribly unstable, and with one vote- I got Berlin and shortly afterwords, the whole German empire collasped. 6 large cities too my large, medium, and small. Too say the least, very satisfying. :)
