Hello, Civfanato-Sporeans! I'm creating this thread for one reason: to help Civfanatics find each others' creations on the Sporepedia. This will be accomplished through two means. The first is a list of Civfanatics Usernames and their Spore alter-egos. The second is to encourage all Civfanatics to tag their creatures with the word civfanatics, much like several other online communities have begun doing.

Several of us have already tagged our creatures as such, but many others haven't- I heartily encourage them to do so.

I may seem incredibly stupid here, but how do I get a Spore tag such as this?

It's simple. When you create a creature, write civfanatics in as one of its tags. For already-uploaded creatures, simply edit the tags, adding civfanatics, surrounded by commas.

Would tag my creatures, but Sporepedia says "Internal Server Error".

I imagine that they're preparing the systems to have more than creature content. :D

I'm Dale1. I've got Apolyton in the tags, but when it comes back online I'll add CivFanatics. :)

Someone's six winged red frog thing keeps appearing everywhere (I think it may be Hitti-Litti's) and Lord Iggy's and Subi's show up alot just because they've made so many. I think the trick to seeing them is to only enable Buddy content.

With all my buddys I have over 1250 buddy content.

Just something I noticed that in the online Sporepedia. Does anyone think that the buttons on the left to scroll through your buddies are incorrectly placed? In order to see below the bottom threshold you have to hold a button at the top and vice versa.

Also, Dale, I already had Bitey show up. Unfortunately for Bitey, he wasn't very advanced.

Gets even weirder... if I search for myself, only my buildings are shown, not my creatures... although they DO show up on my personal page?! And I know people downloaded my creatures, as the event page shows that they declared war on them in the space phase. I wonder what´s wrong here... servers perhaps?!

I don´t get it :confused:. I re-uploaded some of my stuff and it appears on the Sporepedia now. But the ingame search says that I don´t exist?! Any ideas?

I guess what you have to do is make your creature functional for the creature phase, then just before you go to the tribe stage, you make it look like you want it to? In creature phase there is no point in having more than one arm, for instance... But you can add more before you leave because the body doesn't matter for the rest of the game, is that right? Although having no arms for the tribe stage... uh... Hmmm, I'm confused!

No, you can buddy someone without them reciprocating.

Yeah, I expected to be able to send messages to people, and see when they're online and whatnot. Basically, I thought the buddy list would be a bit like AIM, MSN. It would be cool to chat with fellow spore players when we're playing at the same time and share screenshots and funny stories.

I know it's stupid to say, but remember this is Maxis/EA we're talking about.

I wouldn't mind buying expansions for this game, as long as it adds gameplay elements, and not just more clothes and roofs.

Someone needs to start up a Ventrillo server so we can all chat in there. We could also have it so that we have a password that you only get if you tell us your Spore nick.
I would prefer more a chatroom as i would suspect that over half of the people on the list don't have ventrillo.

getting ventrillo is easy though. And we already have a chatroom. The IRC chat? Croxis, LogicSequence and I regularly chat in there, and about Spore lately too.

Yay I have like one subscriber for now.

I find something is annoying though. Since everybody (including me) have many versions of the same creature (as it evolves) it happens quite often that I'll meet the same creature (except slightly different) twice. In space right now I had to fend off the Bitey Empire while allied with the Bitey Empire, while my two neighbours, The Humourless Baxter Empire and the Humourless Baxter Empire were going at war with each others and asking me to join either of them "Help the Humourless Baxter Empire in their defense against the Humourless Baxter Empire (you can differentiate us by the lack of a necklace on our counterpart)".

I find that weird because I do have thousands of creations downloaded. oh well.

I'm finding the near creature clones annoying aswell... the other day I was in tribal phase attacking some bolimes while my domesticated bolime watched a mini bolime nick my food.

That doesn't really help, because unless you do it immediately your myriad of slightly different creatures will still get upthendownloaded to anyone who happens to be online at the time.

IMO they should have designed it to only upload a creature at:

Start of creature phase
End of creature phase
End of tribal phase
End of Civ phase
Somewhere(?) in space phase.

That would allow each phase to be populated by user created stuff without having repeat species.
