I don't know if this has been done here yet, but I've seen it on other forums and thought we could give it a try. If it's a lame idea, I don't mind letting it die.

The game is easy. You start at a given Wikipedia page and try and navigate your way to another destination page, and the only way to do this is by clicking on the links on each page.

For example:

Start: Jesus ->
2) Christianity ->
3) Criticism of Christianity ->
4) Carl Sagan - >
5) Contact - >
6) Jodie Foster ->
7) Star Wars IV ->
Goal: Darth Vader

The goal is to get to the destination in the least number of clicks.

I'm really bored and thought this might help. Let me know what you think.

My friends and I would do stuff like this when we were goofing off in the computer lab. We called it the Wikipedia game. Except we would pick one topic, hit random article, and see who could get there the fastest.

I've done this before.
Jesus-human rights-U.S.A-Star wars(Goes to episode IV)-Darth vader

Beat that.

This belongs in the forums games sub forum, which normally I'd link to, but I'm feeling lazy.

This would be a good idea for a forum game. Someone posts a starting article and a finish article and then the players would be given X amount of days to find the fastest way from the beginning article to the end article. The winner would then post the next starting article and finish article or call open floor.

EDIT: X-posted with azzaman

There would invariably be ties.

There would invariably be ties.

The person who posted the shortest one first would be the winner.

I only had 5 counting darth vader, what I was saying when you click on star wars on the american page, it goest to episode iv and not the main star wars page.

AngryZealot

Start: Jesus -> (random page)
Goal: Dearth Vader

Or is that cheating?

I tied the OP, but got beat by several other people. I'm just posting this because I thought the different path was amusing:

Start: Jesus
1. List of people who have claimed to be Jesus
2. Heaven's Gate (Cult)
3. UFO Religion
4. Flying Saucers
5. Science Fiction
6. Star Wars Episode 4
Goal: Darth Vader

A quicker way:
Start: Jesus
1. Cultural Depictions of Jesus
2. Epic Film
3. Category: Epic Film
4. Star Wars Episode 4
Goal: Darth Vader

Oda Nobunaga

Still not shorted below 6, but I have an alternate road there, and one that SHOULD short #5, but doesn't due to poor wiki editing :-D

1.Communism
2.WWII
3.Computer
4.Video Games Console
5.Halo Series
6.Halo3

Note that #4 Video Games Console specifically names Halo3 in the article, but does not link.
