Hey guys.

In this picture the worker is equadistant from both York and Thebes, yet the chop says it will go to York. How can I make it go to Thebes? Can I?

I thought having Thebes pop its cultural border first to "claim" the forest tile might work, but it doesn't. Since York comes before Thebes in your city list (the order they appear in the domestic advisor screen), York will always get the hammers. So the only possibility would be to gift York to Boudica or Genghis :lol:.

The more I play Civ 4 the more I realize that those who created it didn't play the game at all.

ROFL! The more I play it, the more I realize a lot of genius went into the game. I discover new nuances and synergies all the time. I won't deny there were some dumb things done, but man, you're WAY off base.
