Introdruction

Over time, the NES has left its beginnings as a story into a more board game fashion. Well, I want to make this prospect a story again. When a person takes a nation, they must not only engage in international relations, make war, etc., but also provide a story for the internal happenings of their nations.

In order for this to maintain as a story, and not just back-and-forth glorious victories as it turned out, battles will work a little differently. Each is expected to be fully and richly detailed, however, by a neutral noncombatant nation. This will be the first one to step up to the plate. By the end of the year (1 day in the real world) each nation must supply orders, such as military expansion, economic expansion, etc., along with any military engagements they might pursue. Should a writer choose to give a battle story and decision, they will post it first, because they take a while to write out. These are the only two rules.

Country characteristics are to be thought of while creating a story, or while a writer is describing a battle.

All information will be posted on the timeline, and this will include updates from the mini-stories in each nation, as well as the battles and expansion.

Timeline:

2002 - Egypt begins civilian nuclear technology development, but Great Britain and America claim otherwise. In retaliation, Egypt halves its oil exports to America. In further retaliation, America and Great Britain declare and embarge of Egypt. Military spendings by America on Israel are cut. Italy signs MPPs with America and Great Britain, but after the killing of the Italian parliament and the invasion of Switzerland, these ties are nulled and relations are broken. Russia plans to invade Khazakstan, and under mobilization for war declares "National Crisis" and socializes the Russian industry. The invasion is, as predicted, a smashing success. Peace between Italy and the other nations is reached after a withdrawl from Switzerland. Israel begins a covert and military mission against Egypt.

2003 - Isreal invades across the Egyptian border and takes much of Sinai, but is still a fair distance from the Suez canal. Terrorist activities erupt as a bombing of the party in Rome, and the sinking of an American fleet in the Mediterranean Sea occur close together. Emperor Anders Scotterson thought to be dead but is in fact alive and kicking. Russia's economy improves due to Khazak annexation. Great Britain and America openly prepare for war against Iraq to help the Kurdish resistance. Secret police in Italy begin to eliminate political dissidents in cooperation with America to extinguish terrorism by and large.

2004 - Israel destroys the Cairo nuclear power plant, leveling two-thirds of the city. Following an indication that Israel was committing terrorist acts by this and her planned launch of cruise missiles to Memphis by the new Iranian head of state, Ayatollah Pezhman, Iran and the United States force Israel to open into peace negotiations. Iran contacts France about possible strong friendship ties. British submarines intercept the submarine wolfpack that sunk several American carriers and sink one submarine. There are no survivors, but an intercepted SOS transmission suggests the subs are of Italian nationality. America begins massive fleet expansion.

2005 - Iraq commits terrorist acts against the now-demolished Eiffel tower, London, and several other major coalition cities as they have begun an invasion of it. The explosion in Cairo is revealed to have been caused not by the destruction of a civilian nuclear power plant, but in fact the destruction of several nuclear warheads. As a result, Italy declares war on both Egypt and Israel.

All right, Toasty, back to the begining. I remember I was the last one to join the first NES, then it died. How many people still are playing who played in the first?

Anyways, I want America.

Nemesis

Prime Minister Justin Daniels(some of you may recognise him from the Dangerous Games stories lol) strolled into his new office.

It was in his new house too.

Number 10, Downing Street.

Just the name brought a chill to his spine, terrifying him with the power of his position.

He gathered his papers, and began to head for the door, knowing that he would have little time to read through his speech on the way to Parliament.

The ocean waves lapped against the huge aircraft carrier. This new, and highly advanced carrier was the first of many to come to the U.S. navy, which was undergoing a huge redevelopment. President William was on board, and was recalling the navy days of his life, and how they were exciting with cold-war drills and what-not. Pushing the screen door open, he walked out onto the deck of the control tower, high above the sea. On board this carrier were 100 (what is logical?) brand new British-design Harrier Jets. The lack of a run-way gave for more room of jets capable of rising and landing without having a run-way. The President watched the proud American soldiers swap the deck of the carrier, and was at heart sunk for the news they would be getting...


Also, Toasty, do we send orders to you? If we do, what will you do with them? To fight, do we say that we attack on the thread, then someone takes it and makes a story and then decides the outcome?

President Prugl Sbrozlaus has been recently sworn in as the new leader of the Russian nation. Around him so many things faulted, the population came to unrest and came to resent him.

Not only that, but not a single one of his advisors could spell his damned name right.

To make matters worse, his economic advisor, whom he would be so heavily relying on, spoke only in Ukrainian. A case of ethnic minorities here, as his party forced him to accept this pitiful excuse for slop.

A scheduled meeting with the cupboard was about to commence, on live TV, in his first national appearance as president.

Not like anyone in Russia could afford TVs, anyways.

Upon arriving back at the White House, the president was horded into the Oval office by media and White House Personel.

Sitting at the wooden desk, His eyes glared at the camera-man who was continually counting down from five. This was his first live appearance to the American people, and he was as nervouse as hell. He shuffled his papers on the desk for reassurance, and as the fingers reached one, he released the papers onto the desk.

"My American people, I am confronting you on a very frightful manner. American spies have reported to me the development of nuclear arsonals being developed in the nation of Egypt, and that they will be aimed at the United States if action does not happen. Why the nuclear arsonals will be pointed at the U.S. is unknown right now (a lie), as soon as information is available it will be given to the press. To counter this research, a series of diplomatic procedures will begin, and if they fail, military campaigns. So I leave you now to begin these operations, and want to remind you that your government is strong, and will prevail, and for you to remain your normal lives."

"And we're off," the camera-man replied. Before the President could rise from his seat, the press stormed in.

Very good Toasty. Seems to be the proper mix of story and boardgame. The problem with the original was that people could easily put in rediculus things like time machines.

I guess i will take the Italians as it's friendly prime minister, a former American resident who gained power by rigging the elections, Anders Scotterson. If no one minds i will "play" this by doing my favorite story telling in the form of news casts.

As it is very late and i am tired i will just my orders. Military: Send 20 Armored divisions to the French border. Position the navy off the coast of Eygpt. Send 5 armored divisions to the Swiss border supported by 10 infanrty divisions. The air force is to remain in defensive postions of all borders. Econimic: Raise taxes to support larger military.

I hope this NES is destined for a better fate than my ruleless one or the orginal one.

Justin Daniels grinned as he walked out of Parliament. The bill had been passed! Britain was finally going to have a military which could actually defend her! It didn't expand the armed forces much, he knew, but he didn't really mind keeping it the same size, it was mainly that it upgraded the technology, which had been keeping Britain back for so many years.

I'll describe the Swiss battle.

Anderson Scott had sent one of his greatest generals to begin the Swiss mission. Donicelli, a withered and greyed old man, held a great knowledge of strategy, depite his status as a nutcase.

The battle began immediately with a preemptive strike of the defensive Swiss fortifications. This was largely unsuccessful, as even though the Swiss were unprepared, they were well dug-in inside titanium reinforced Alpine bunkers.

Appearantly, one of the faults of Anders Scotterson's planned invasion of Switzerland was the fact that the entire coutnry was made of snow, ice, and mountains. Another thing he faulted was in the realization that the Swiss nation is armed to the teeth like no other.

Artillery bombardment began as well, with several mobile artillery of the Crusadorio class pounding creaters into the mountain. The unprepared Swiss lost their ammo shelter to this hail of shells, meaning that should the battle go on too long, they would inevitably lose.

The Romansch soldier has a deep passion within him. Immeadiately, counterstrikes began. Despite that many Swiss planes had been shot down on the ground, the jet fighters began to inflict heavy casualties on the Italian bombers, which were the cornerstone of Italy's offensive airforce. Also, as the artillery stations became manned, the advancing armor of the Italian 322nd mobilized division became nearly obliterated.

By the end of the battle, in which Donicelli overcame the Swiss border by sheer weight of numbers, the Italian casualties marked with 6 infantry divisions destroyed and 2 only at half strength from injuries, 7 motorized divisions, and the bomber force of the Italian airforce had been crippled for at least 3 years.

However, it would all pay off, as the road to Bern now lay clear...

President Prugl Sbrozlaus had returned from the cupboard meeting. It was determined by his "brilliant" advisors that in order for Russia to resume her status as a world power, she would have to pull her economy out of the gutter. A bum in Red Square could have told him that. He needed to know how.

Suprisingly however, the Ukrainian advisor (translated) had suggested the aquisition of the thired most industrialized, and largest, former SSR Republic: Khazakstan.

This would also bring in more oil revenues, and cut down Russia's dependency on the Fundamentalist European states. Besides, Khazak terrorists had been supporting the Chechens for years now. They had a very legitimate reason for taking out the government there.

It was also expected that they could declare a case of national crisis by the act, and socialize all industry in the nation (this is actually in the Russian constitution). With the economy under the enlightened guidance of the elected Russian government, it should be able to, in fact, pull itself out of the gutter.

Soon, Russia would retake her position aside America as a superpower...

Italys claims can be no farther from the truth. We will not take ANY land exept the canal, which will be used for international trade. And we MUST stop Arabic fanatics from getting nuclear technology.

The suprised Egyptian military, what was left at the Canal, was completely suprised when the army crossing the border. Thousands of Israeli soldiers ambushed the untrained Egyptian army, losing only a couple soldiers, while Egypt lost 1,000.

Israeli helicopters were met with fierce ground resistance, in which 20 out of the 50 attack helicopters were shot down by anti-aircraft missiles at the Suez.

Bombers met no resistance in the high skies, and succesfully disabled numerouse Egyptian military installations.

While the operation claimed a complete success, there are still more then 75% of the Egyptian military bases remain operational, and most of the egyptian army go un-accounted for, and who knows where they are at waiting for orders for a counter attack.

We recently captured a Major from the Republican Guard, whom during interrogation claimed he knew the location of a top-secret nuclear weapons research facility. I think you will find that a nuclear reactor cannot explode like a nuclear bomb, but rather releases radioactive pollution(OOC- Cherynobyl(sp?!) exploded, but didn't go nuclear, just released lots of radioactivity). Also, the reactor wasn't even online yet, so it was basically just an empty building, no nuclear rods that I or America know of had been sent there. That means even a huge TNT explosion there wouldn't result in any type of nuclear explosion OR radioactivity.

That is why I cannot understand the destruction of Cairo. What should have happened was if you by some chance did bring the reactor online(which meant you weren't using the non-weapons grade plutonium that America or I could have given you, but instead weapons grade stuff which could be used in the making of nuclear weapons), your people would be born with three legs for a while, but instead Cairo is nearly destroyed.

That leads me to believe that you were storing weapons of some kind near the reactor, perhaps ammunition(not nuclear weapons since they don't explode until armed). This is what my top explosives expert has confirmed - you must have been storing ammunition or something near the reactor(perhaps cruise missiles) and the Israeli attack caused it to explode.

ooc: uhm, well supplies dont last forever, especially not if they bomb cuba. Besides, why put ICBM on Cuba? You can attack America from USSR with those, so no need to put them there...
