Sooo my brother has spore, and I need to know how addicting it is! I don't really have the time to get addicted so I'm afraid to try it... :(

I guess it's about addicting for 1-1/2 weeks. It's a perfect "lazy day" game

More like a 15 mintue game.
Almost non-existant replay value, watered down gameplay.

I'd be more addicted if I was less busy with IB.

I agree with this. You will get bored very quickly if you play it all day, but after the novelty wears off, it's a good "meh, nothing else to do" game that you can't really get tired of.

I am saddened by it

It depends on what you like to do, if you like to design, even a little, it is a must-have. Check my blog (link in my sig) for a set of extremely cool things players made using it.

I haven't found it addicting, but I have found it fun to have a quick blast in the editor for five minutes, or to play a short half-hour game :)

I do like designing random stuff! I'll try it! I'll report back soon!

Okay, PreLynMax- cut it out. You're just trolling now, and not making any sort of useful criticism.

You are aware that spamming is an offense, right?

Anyway, the game is not quite addicting enough to prevent myself from doing the IB, as I have discovered.

Not touched it in weeks.. :(

Its all just to "pointless"

I would have loved the creature part, if what I did actually mattered!

I can have a 1 legged, 1 eyed thing, with the highest level mouth beating anything in the game.. daft daft daft!

PLEASE, make this game more realisitic!!!

Still playing, every now and then, but unlike other games, it is not something which i can play for hours on end (apart from the first few days), but i can go back to it unlike other games.

Me too, just so many planets I can visit/plunder/explore in an hour or two:)
The creators are awesome alone, amazed at what I can create?
Just would like a comment ,seems to drive me to make something amazing.

I wouldn't call Spore 'addicting'. Im not playing at all now, roughly a month after purchase. I predict that I will get back into it at some point, play it for a while, and leave it for another while...

I should say I'm like that with most games, though. There isn't one I play regularly except Starcraft, multiplayer. And emulated console/amiga games :)

Unfortunately, I have forgotten about Spore recently. I simply do not get the urge to play it at all.

It can get a little addicting in space, because you want to conquer so many planets, terraform something to L3, or you're just trying to get enough money to get that next uber bomb.

But as others have said, it winds up collecting dust for a few weeks before you feel like playing again.

Will Wright stated this is a "casual" game. Yeah, I guess so, because I only feel like playing it once in awhile and not for much. So, I suppose that's casually... lol

It's not like Civ. I love coming back to this game, and it's always fun and different.

seems like much about this game conspires to drive customers away.

I'd say at this point in the game's development, the only addicting part of it is the designers.

If you want to design, just buy the Spore Lab. It is much more cheaper, and it's the only thing that might interest you for the time to come. The gameplay of the full game really isn't worth it. Neither for hardcore nor for casual gamers.

Spore-Lab? I believe that's a product unavailable in the USA. Only the full game, or the demo is available in the states.

It's the creature creator, I think.

I don't agree, the other editors are fun as well. When you get the hang of it, you can make crazy stuff in the UFO editor:

Just a shame all your vehicles and UFO's behave exactly the same way, no matter what race you have and what 'traits' you acquired.

I love creating things, but not if its just cosmetic. Right now, the cell stage of Spore is the only part that interests me.

EDIT: wait, that's your creation? I should point out that I was impressed :D (how did you do the 'petals' I wonder :) )

Not addicting at all. Too shallow.

Thanks! I was inspired by creations by Slartibartfast38, he makes wonderful stuff. The petals were made using a wing from the 'plane' tab, first column, nest-to-last row. It is called 'Helix wing'.

The vehicles do have *some* stats, not too game differing though. But you have to realize that this is done to give the player the liberty to make the UFO exactly how they want it, without being punished by the game. If it was done differently you would get much less diversity. The Hybrid is but one example many other vastly different, but awesome UFO that have been made. Someone used the light beams of one of the available lights to form the 'structure' of the UFO. Other people make great loony tunes figures, or more wacky household stuff.

Although it might not be gaming in the traditional sense, but it is a very entertaining way to spend time looking through them and creating your own.
