Don't you think settlements looks too large in Col2 ?
The look was ok for me in Civ4, because it could be megalopolis with millions of people. But even the larger cities at the time of the Independance war were villages comparing to European cities like Paris or London.
I have a 13-size settlement and it already takes completely over one of my farm square! So it doesn't help readibility, especially with the small Colonization maps. Maybe large city helps see builidings inside, but i was never able to recognize the different builiding anyway.
I have found in this forum that you could change the size of city in Civ4:
From the xml/misc/Civ4DetailManager.xml:
...
<Fader>
<Name>CITY_LAYOUT_SIZE</Name>
<!-- controls how big a city is, in terms of numbers of plots -->
<Value>1</Value>
</Fader>
...
I changed from 1.3 to 1. With this size, i think that the graphics look a bit more realist, with small settlements in a wild nature. Of course you can choose any other value. I haven't see any issue with that yet.
