Sorry, this seems to be an obvious one, but I've done a search and can't find owt in these forums.

So why can't I build artillery? I can't find anything in the 'pedia that says I can't, the building tool tip says I can, but I can only make cannons.

Am I missing something obvious?

Artillery is a unique unit of the King's. Same as they can't build cannons.

Well that's what I guessed - but then surely the tooltip (and 'pedia entry) on the magazine and arsenal are wrong?

Sorry, I don't see any problem with it. It specifically states that it's a unique unit for the King nations (Empire denotes the Kings, Colony denotes the New World nations) and it states "Replaces cannon".

No bug here. It works the same as Civ4 unique units.

My guess is that if the King takes over one of your towns, he now can build artillery with your magazines/armories. But, yeah, it's confusing.

Yeah this confused me, too, for some time. They should say explicitly that the player can't build them, it's too easy to misinterpret the "king's unique unit" thing.
