More degrees on profissions:

Normal +0%
Competent +50%
Expert +100%
Master +150%

Only Free colonists can be tought a new profission, and only level "competent". After that the unit can be tought again to uppgrade the level all the way to master, one step at a time (normal->competent->expert->master). Taking longer time for each step.

(This repaces the expert/master level +100%.)

What do you think if this idea?

Too much micro-management for me, without adding all that much strategically - just tediousness.

Well, you could implement something similar :
an array of counters for each free colonist counting how many turns he already worked in a certain profession ... when reaching the 100 turns for one profession, the player could get a message if he wants to turn the colonist into an expert ... if the player agrees, the free colonist would be replaced by the expert ... learning by doing

The idea of levels isn't bad, but maybe mixed with a quicker learning time for the low levels of knowledge (The ones that give under 100%). Or ways to skip past levels later in the game (Maybe Universities give normal to expert). But the general idea is not bad. :goodjob:
