I have just edited one of the era's and when I run it says missing tag in ForceControlInfos but their is no tag there for an era

Try looking in the files that you edited (or files that are affected by them). I had a similar problem when I removed barbs from my mod. I was getting XML errors mentioning ForceControlInfos, but the problem was actually in another file.
