Alright, so I may have messed up. Bought Civ IV and played it for awhile. Decided on a Sunday evening that I needed to have BTS, so I went to Direct2Drive. It said it was compatible with both the disk and downloaded version. For the record, I have bought several games from Direct2Drive before with no problems what so ever. So the game has worked fine for several weeks. I loaded up BTS and click on multiplayer. Tried logging onto Gamespy, and my computer froze. Ever since then I have had serious problems with BTS. I load my last saved game, and everytime I do something that is more computer labor intensive, the game either goes into a mode that shows a bunch of lines on the screen, or it just flat out quits.

Also for the record, this is a new computer which has been running for 3 weeks now. My computer is more than capable of handling anything that Civ IV can throw at it. I have downloaded no mods, and have not downloaded the newest BTS patch.

Could not having the patch be my problem?

My apologies, I guess the patch came with the DL version.
