View Full Version : Aretian Democratic Party
1889 Oct 10, 2008, 01:53 PM Aretian Democratic Party
We have all seen how the exclusive institutions of a representative system restrict input and hamper national planning. The Aretian Democratic Party will rule by the principles of equality and openness.
There will be no government positions aside from a turn player.
If any player has something to contribute simply post it. All game play decisions will be decided by majority vote of all citizens of Aretania.
Each turn set will be played by a turn player dedicated to following the orders agreed to by majority vote.
The turn player must be a member of the Areian Democratic Party but will be elected by majority vote of all citizens of Aretania.
That’s all the rules we need.
If this party wins the election we will have to research Democracy (2 turns) followed by 2 turns of anarchy while we switch civics to:
Universal Suffrage, Free Speech, Emancipation, Free Market, Free Religion.
P.S. I’m not married to the name so if you think of something cooler please post.

Cyc Oct 10, 2008, 09:02 PM A true Democracy. Low maintenance too. :goodjob:
1889 Oct 24, 2008, 12:21 PM One more member makes this guild a faction and gives us a chance to get this game moving again
Cyc Oct 24, 2008, 01:01 PM Sign me up, 1889. And please tell me what your Avatar represents. Junk Food People?
1889 Oct 24, 2008, 01:09 PM Welcome aboard Cyc.
The Avatar is Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Yes they are junk food people although I imagine they would prefer to be called fast food people.
1889 Oct 26, 2008, 03:31 PM I propose an amendment that allows any DGer to serve as turn player regardless of faction membership. The turn player will be required to abide by agreed upon instructions posted in the TC thread so I don't think faction membership needs to be a requirement.
civplayah Oct 26, 2008, 06:16 PM If I'm allowed to vote, Nay.
Furiey Oct 26, 2008, 07:19 PM Who will post the instructions in the TC thread?
1889 Oct 26, 2008, 09:43 PM If I'm allowed to vote, Nay.
Well you're not since this thread is for Aretian Democratic Party Faction members.
@Furiey, when a turn player creats a TC thread they will probably want to post some ideas they have for the turn set and then everyone can post comments suggestions etc. If it gets really contentious then we'll probably need a poll thread. This is what has been happening all along of course except that discussions in the Assembly Thread were restricted to about four people and discussion was practically nil as a result.
Also I hope that we will be persuing a goal now rather than just mushing together orders from the four states. That should create more clearly defined goals which will help give direction to the turn sets.

But, according to your faction ruleset, I am allowed. I am a citizen of Aretania. I had something to contribute, so I posted it.
1889 Oct 27, 2008, 09:36 AM Yes everyone gets to decide about gameplay issues, but if you also want to have some control over how this faction is run you're going to have to actually join. All that requires is a post saying you want to join so it doesn't really exclude anyone.

Sounds like a no-brainer to me. Factions stink anyway...
Also, please sign me up for this faction, though I can't promise to hang around.
1889 Oct 27, 2008, 02:17 PM Thanks Dutch and Welcome back to the game.
Thats 2-0 in favor of the resolution. I'll leave it on the table until Wednesday when PF elections wrap up, then I'll update the first post with a ya or nay. For now though I'll add a membership list.
dutchfire Oct 27, 2008, 02:20 PM In the mean time, where can I find the latest save, and what's the game plan right now? (Is there a game plan right now?)
1889 Oct 27, 2008, 02:29 PM I did open a thread for a TC this Wednesday however everything still depends on the PF election. I will post the current save in that thread shortly.
Joe Harker Oct 27, 2008, 07:38 PM I would like to join the faction :)

I agree to this :)

Cyc Nov 05, 2008, 03:39 PM Right on! Obama wins!!
Furiey Nov 05, 2008, 04:48 PM And Bedfordshire runs out of Sparklers!
civplayah Nov 05, 2008, 05:04 PM And Bedfordshire runs out of Sparklers!
I'm not really big on England, so what's that mean?
Furiey Nov 05, 2008, 05:14 PM The 5th of November, when we celebrate Guy Fawkes failing to blow up the houses of parliament by letting off ridiculous quantities of fireworks and setting light to enormous bonfires. All the local shops were sold out of sparklers today (hand held fireworks that little kids love) causing a panic in the office when someone realised his wife hadn't got any. Main points of conversation throughout the day were therefore Obama winning and where there were still sparklers for sale. It just seemed a ridiculous combination.
DaveShack Nov 05, 2008, 05:26 PM I'll join, vote yes, and may want to play a set. If I remember to come back before the game is finished. ;)

Cyc Nov 05, 2008, 10:11 PM It's just that the only radio station they get in Bethel is Mush Limpa. They HAVE to listen to his lies.
Just kidding 1889. SOMEBODY has to still like Palin. Might as well be you. :)
CivGeneral Nov 19, 2008, 12:16 AM Talk about comming back from a long LONG hiatus :ack:. I still see there are a few familiar faces still here.
Anyway, I'd like to join this party.
Furiey Nov 19, 2008, 12:40 AM Better look in the Gameplay section under the last turn session CG, we're trying to arrange the victory session.
1889 Nov 19, 2008, 10:03 AM CivGeneral, the game will be over this Saturday but welcome anyway.
CivGeneral Nov 19, 2008, 03:43 PM I should have joined in sooner :(. Is the next Demogame in the works?
