Seems like red-blue uniforms were more the thing of the French Expeditionary Force.

The only thing you need to do is create a mod folder, put the files you see above in the right folder structure in this mod folder, and add the xml code you see above in the correct file.
O yes, and the unit art too of course. ;)
Martock Oct 14, 2008, 07:19 PM Ok...tried to add this unit to Age of Discovery II - which shouldn't be a problem as far as I can tell - and it crashes the game. I open up WB and try to add a british regular to the field to see if it shows up and I get an immediate CTD.
I DL'd the file, unzipped, any reason why this is named rotrock as opposed to UK_redcoat? Anyway, plopped this file down in the \Mods\AgeOfDiscoveryII\Assets\Art\Units directory with the other 'added' units. I then did as Buddy3101 stated by editing each file as shown in the list. Since I didn't see a single mention of rotrock, I suspected my first CTD was due to this, but I was wrong. I renamed the unit DIR from rotrock to UK_redcoat and restarted. Same thing. Any idea on what I'm doing wrong here? Am I supposed to be putting this unit in the main art\unit dir?
Just noticed in WB, the british version of this is called 'british regular' instead of regular...so in a way, there are 2 regulars in the WB now.

Perhaps there is someone other who use the unit with the AODII Mod too. I don't use the unit in the AODII Mod. :blush:

Careful of the xml. I've added some new tags to some of those files. :)

Anyway, I tried to add the unit again to AoDII and again it bombed badly. No errors, just immediate CTD. Here's what I did.
1) renamed the folder from rotrock (?) to UK_Redcoat.
2) moved the folder and contents to C:\games\C4 Colonization\Mods\AgeOfDiscoveryII\Assets\Art\Unit s

I'm at my wits end with this. I truly TRULY hate C4's way of adding units to it. I had no problems adding units to C3...added tons of them but can't get a bloody one to work for C4. :mad: Any ideas? I'm at the point that I'd happily zip up the files and folders for someone to look over.

Martock Oct 23, 2008, 08:00 PM I corrected that line in the file, haven't the foggiest how it was missed seeing as I simply did a 'cut and paste' but that didn't fix it. I still CTD as soon as I select the unit from within WB.
Dale Oct 23, 2008, 08:46 PM hmm..... it's my experience from Civ4 that if it CTD's on selection of the unit within WB, that it's going to be an art issue (missing file, pointing to wrong file).
From main menu Pedia can you open the entry for the unit without a crash?

Now I simply changed regulars to be redcoats, they are shown in civilopedia correctly, but if you put them into map with world builder, they are using models from the standart regulars, REALLY weird thing +lol+

I'm playing as the French colonies, I've put a regular soldier (blue uniformed and all) on the map by worldbuilder, and settled it in a city. Now, when I bring it out of the city again as a soldier, it uses your UK_Redcoat graphic.
