I just bought the Civ IV Game of the Year edition. Installed it, tried to play gets to the loading screen, then send error report comes up. I have read the FAQ from the Civ IV website, did everything I could no help. Have did search through this forum did everything I could find that remotely looked like it would help, nothing. I downloaded the 1.74 patch, installed, gave error at the end 1706 error code. Now I can not even uninstall the game. I have an ati video card, all drivers up to date. Did the recommended support for having an ati card no help either. System is a 2.3gh athlon 64, 9800 ati radeon video card, soundblaster audigy sound card. Windows xp home. All drivers up to date, as well as all windows updates. I have uninstalled 4 times and installed 5 times as stated above can not uninstall using add/remove programs now. I even did the recommended for the d3dx9 sticky no help either. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :sad:
