I don't know if I can manage to win this war. I might be to far behind.

Two big stacks from Ragnar, eh? Well fortunately for yourself you're in a fine position to at the very least defend yourself, thanks to your nice stack of about two dozen hwachas. As long as you don't mind sacrificing half of them, that is. I went ahead and played out the war some to see how it went.

First things first, the stack right outside Ulsan. First I sent in as many hwachas as a could. Many died -- it would have been really nice if you gave some of them promotions other than city raider -- but plenty survived as well, and the remaining troops from Ragnar were extremely weak and easily picked off by the regular units, even the archer got to help! Once everyone had moved, this patethic stack was left of Ragnar's men.

All extremely injured. The swords and a few macemen picked off the remaining mounted units next turn, while the rest of the units rushed to meet Ragnar's other stack, which was focused on Wonsan to the east. They combined with forces brought over from that city further east of wonsan (a few units and trebuchets) and they arrived at the city just in time.

Not a very threatening stack on our side, I'll admit, expecially since all those hwachas are so weak. To help fix this, I merged a great general earned from that last battle with a random protective archer you had lying around for a Medic III unit for quick healing.

He quickly rushed back into the city. To help weaken the opposition, all the healthy hwachas suicided into the stack this turn, while the weakened ones and the rest of the units healed. No healing this turn though as all the units had moved, and Ragnar spent his move bombarding the city's defenses to zero.

While my units then healed for one turn to become usable, there was an attack from Ragnar. I had the quick attack setting on so I missed most of it, but it didn't really do too much damage, only killing four units and not really hurting my seige. Plus it left a lot of his units weakened, so my counterattack actually had decent odds against their best defender, a catapult.

After the hwachas attacked with their might, healthiest units first, and then my regular units had their way with the stragglers. Once again even the archers got to help out and pick off the weakest. After it was all said and done, the Viking's magnificant second stack consisted of only one extremely weakened catapult which I let limp away.

And look at Ragnar's power rating fall!

Ragnar still won't talk, but at this point you can certainly start taking the war to his side. With the super medic, almost all of these units will be fully healed after just one turn, and you can start capturing cities. Though I'd advise you to go back to Wonsan first, Ragnar's got a meager third stack of about eight units headed to it and it'll need some defense.

Also it'd be really great if you'd scout out the lands of your continent, or at least trade maps. Not knowing your enemy's city layout sucks! Though overall your economy seems improved from your last game, your tech rate is decent and you got some okay cities. You aren't doing great, but it's certainly improved.

Also no save game for ya, you'll have to do this yourself. :p

Big thing I'd like to point out to help you in future is don't promote your units until you need them. Most of the time siege units will be attacking cities, so city raider is best, but in this case they were attacking units. If you had waited to promote you could have taken fewer losses against Ragnar and would have been in a better position to counter-attack. CR is just as good if you give it to a unit the turn it attacks or the turn its built, so why specialize a unit to do something it may never do?

Hwacha rock!! Seriously though, they don't seem like much, but their bonus against melee units is very handy in MP. Hwacha + War Elephants is almost unstoppable. The bad thing is - you don't always find Ivory.
