Berkobob Oct 27, 2008, 08:31 PM Is it possible that you did not have the prereq's for Sci Method, therefore the AI would not show Sci Meth as available to trade but would show that he/she is able to research Physics on the trade screen? Bleys Oct 27, 2008, 11:47 PM Is it possible that you did not have the prereq's for Sci Method, therefore the AI would not show Sci Meth as available to trade but would show that he/she is able to research Physics on the trade screen? Well, if Sci Meth isnt showing in the trade window, then Physics isnt either. He is probably seeing it as an Espionage "can see current research" thing, but doesnt have the requirements for Sci Meth, so thats not being seen. Stuff like this happens all the time with the late-game branches. I can be researching Guilds, and see that Pacal is researching Economics, but I dont see Banking in the trade window, for example. Berkobob Oct 28, 2008, 12:21 AM You're right Bleys, he can probably see Physics being researched via espionage, but I was thinking of the 'can research' part of the tech screen, rather than the 'will trade' 'wont trade' parts. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that would display Physics among the techs researchable even if you did not have Sci Meth. TheMeInTeam Oct 28, 2008, 01:12 AM If you know the tech tree well enough (or just look at it a lot to infer I guess), you can pretty much figure out exactly what techs an AI has without anything other than "can research". Obviously will/won't trade makes it easier. If the AI can research physics, is has sci method, no exceptions. If it can research something that requires physics, then it has both. And yes, you can also see what it's researching via espionage. Not surprisingly, it's often easy to guess, as once the AI goes down a certain branch it tends to continue on it for a while. Ah, yes, I forgot about that, I think you're right, it does show those even if you dont have the pre-req's. kxa7 Oct 28, 2008, 06:10 PM You're right Bleys, he can probably see Physics being researched via espionage, but I was thinking of the 'can research' part of the tech screen, rather than the 'will trade' 'wont trade' parts. AI finished researching physics, grabbed GS and then the same AI went back to research scientific methods. Unfortunately, I have no savegame. I though it was a bag or some feature it didn't know. I will post a savegame next time it happens. Gwynnja Oct 28, 2008, 06:30 PM it won't happen again |
