So I'm trying out a few different approaches to a crowded Deity map (Pangaea / Temperate) and I think this game hates me now. I'm looking for a start with a 3 food tile, and the game throws me some AWESOME starts...however without food I desired.

The first had 3 coastal Clams, 1 Plain Stone, and 1 Gems in the BFC. I moved one tile to on top of the Stone (yay for 2 hammer capitols!) and settled just to see what was nearby. That placed a previously unseen coastal fish in my BFC.

Next had me start on a Plains Hill (yay for 2 hammer capitols!) and tons of other fun stuff...however the only non-seafood-food was in my 2nd ring and it was a non-riverside Banana.

The latest one has a coastal Clams, coastal crabs, Plains Cows, Plains Wine, Gold on Plains Hills, and Marble in the 3rd pop.

These were all ridiculous starts yet none of them had any 3 food tiles in the first ring, some no 3 food tiles in the BFC at all!

I'm on my 9th or 10th regen in a row (and some of them were AWESOME starts) without a 3 food tile in my starting BFC. :suicide:

Arrgh, sorry for this but I just needed to vent a bit about the RNG hating me.

So, how has the RNG been treating you lately?

Badly. it either puts me in the middle of a desert with ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE to put my second city, or else it plonks me between Monty and Shaka with nowhere to go either, or it isolates me.
It seems to have been treating the AI well though. Wang Kon got six seafood and gems last time:lol:

I find that seafood are good food tiles.. what, dont' like sushi?

(Don't worry I don't either)

But yea.. I would've stuck with the first one... but thats just me.

Gagonite,

The reason I didn't stick with it was because of a strategy I was trying with Cathy. It works out very well, too, but it requires a bit of luck. It took me about 20 tries, but when I finally got the start that I wanted I managed this:

I captured 3 cities, then promptly sank my economy in a way you wouldn't believe. I'm going to replay this map a few times and start the same way and see if I can improve on my axe rush by building fewer units and focusing on my economy sooner.

I'm thinking I should have targeted Delhi first and razed it, then targeted the Buddhist holy city, which Asoka had already planted a Great Prophet in, for economical support. Instead I went directly for Vin, the city to the northwest, and another city that was right between Delhi and the Buddhist Holy city, culture trapping it like you wouldn't believe. What a mistake. This is Deity, quality over quantity!

I won a 9% battle yesterday (wait, why would you attack at those odds? Oh yeah, immortals abuse for a fast domination...). HAHA, RNG SCREWS ALL.
