View Full Version : Anyone still interested in a Champions League prediction game?

This idea was brought up some time ago by Dell19 and willemvanoranje (where is he?) I think. But back then the World Cup distracted any thoughts about it. Besides that the Champions League is probably not everyone's favourite league (at least it is not mine) but it is the only major international one.

So who is still interested in it?
If you are, any suggestions or preferations about how it should be done?

I'm still interested and I still have the spreadsheet. Basically when all the qualifiers have been played I will try to finish it off. Then everyone can download the file, predict the scores and send it back. I'll then add all the different entries onto the same file and then everyone can download it again for reference and to show I have not altered the scores, and so that they can see how well everyone is doing.

Sounds great Dell! :goodjob:

Now is there anybody but us two who would participate? ;)

And where is willemvanoranje?

Heres the thread with the different versions of the spreadsheet so you can download it and see if its okay.

I like to participate.
But I only have Works, not Excel on my computer.
Hope that will be no problem.

My edition of works included Excel and Word so you might find that you do have it, otherwise you can make your predictions in word or something and then send it to me and I will add your predictions to the main spreadsheet.

The plan at the moment. I will fill in all the team names when the qualifiers are done. Then everyone can download it and make their predictions. *

Then they send their predictions back to me where I will combine them all into one big spreadsheet that everyone can then download and fill in themselves, and it should limit cheating as well.

*Are we just going to make predictions about the first group stage and then predict the rest of the matches later?

I would suggest so. Otherwise you'll get double reward or punishment for a correct/wrong prediction, which is quite pointless.

we have to make a kinda prize for the winner not money but in our sigs we have to say so and so is the best or summin like that

That would be fine by me, although in WC competition I led for most of the time, only to lose on the last day or two...

Yep thats a good idea, a few of us should PM him about it so that it looks like there is some interest already.

Hmm, we can still do that when it comes near, I mean it is more than half a year until there will be a winner.

Can you two send a PM to TF as well since he may be too busy to notice just one PM but he should notice it if he gets three messages. Btw I have already PMed him but no answer yet.

Just describe the game and why it would be helpful if we had a message on the front page to show that there is going to be a football competition.

Do you want to predict a whole round or the whole system at once? I like to play, but not if I've got to predict over fifty games at once.

We are going to do predictions for the first group stage. And then another set of predictions for the second group stage and another set for the knockout stage.
