They have Cities & Knights too (which I just got into).

Great site & free, they also let you customize your own maps & play on dozens of pre-made maps.

If anyone wants to play post here & maybe we could set up a game. :)

Note : I'm on there now BTW.

Y'all are missing out. Playing Cities & Knights online is my new addiction. :)

Wow, that's weird. I was planning on trying a forum game version of Settlers of Catan, and here it is in all its glory.
Thanks for the link Narz, I'll look further into it later tonight.

A forum game version of Catan? Sounds interesting. Link it here if/when you come up with it.

I think those AsoBrain people did a fantastic job with that site. Really, super impressive. Much, muhc better even than the version of Catan you have to pay for!

I played against the AI and I got crushed...i think I finished with the same amount of points I started with :crazyeye: I have no idea how to play. :( But it's fun thanks! :)

I have no idea how to play. :(
Well that explains the "getting crushed" part. ;)

Cities & Knights especially has a rather long learning curve (I'm still learning after about two weeks & forty-odd games.

It's definitely addictive though & it's kind of cool playing an online game knowing you can play it without the technology also (unlike say, Civ). :)

I played Toulouse (Carcassonne) at this site a while back. It's another great game, which I prefer to Settlers, that you really should try if you haven't played it before.

I actually have that game ("in the flesh") but I haven't tried it yet.

Won four in a row & up to my highest rating of 192 (in Cities & Knights). Ranked 148th out of 30,000 or so. :)

(that's for the month of January, ratings get reset at the end of every month but you also get a yearly score)

Unlike Civ SoC is something that you can actually convince (most) girls to try. You can also play it with kids, Luddites & even people who generally don't like board games, let alone computer games. It's got a broad appeal which is one of the things I like about it. :)

I tend to play more of the Carcassone-game, which I had heard of but not had the opportunity to play. ( :bump: )

FYI, the asobrain site is currently down but there's an equally good Dutch site where you can play on the same Java platform here : http://www.xplorers.nl

My name is Narz on there also.

Be honest, the site is down because of copyright violation.
Too bad, it was fun while it lasted. Will try the new link, thanks.

Allegedly it's security issues: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090921201828AA9IohO

I wasn't sure why so I didn't say, I did assume that though. Personally I don't think it's harming anyone & is actually spreading the influence of the game (I only bought a physical C&K game because I play so much online).

I agree with you here.
I mean, I have played much more since you pointed us towards this site that since I bought the actual game years ago.
I'd probably buy one of the extensions if I came across them, but it's still difficult to find friends to actually play the game with (and my kids are too young... yet).

Let's just hope it's a security measure, like they said.

Excellent. So it really was a security issue after all, go figure.
