View Full Version : User Input Required (Choose Your Own Adventure)
Maniacal Nov 21, 2008, 03:22 AM I have absolutely no idea how I am going to run this, but 40 I thought it would be fun. It will be a choose your own adventure story, but I want people to suggest what to do next and I will choose one of them, possibly the first but not nesecaraly. Or I may give a multiple choice poll and see which decision wins and then make the next picture (or pictures).

It was a long day at the office, NAME worked 9-5 Mon-Fri for MANIAC (Monetary Assitance Nigerian Internet Advertising Company) in the E-Mail Department as a Creative Writer. This day had been aprticularaly rough as the software that randomizes capitalization and use of leet had been broken by a recent update and NAME had to add them in by hand, a complciated and time consuming process that involved many crumpled sheets of paper and overdosing on caffeine. He is currently just ending a call to his boss and the time is 4:55 PM.

How the hell am I supposed to portray that? Anyways, I can't update for a few more hours so keep the suggestions coming.
Captain2 Nov 21, 2008, 04:43 PM He should say that he loves his boss before hanging up, due to force of habit
then spend several minutes feeling like an idiot and starring blankly at his monitor before facepalming
Maniacal Nov 21, 2008, 05:04 PM Deal. Updating now.
Does anyone have CivGeneral's steam id?

Realising that you just told your boss "I love you" after he told you you could leave 5 minutes early, you spend the next 5 minutes staring blankly at your computer screen and facepalming, a nearby co-worker who overheard the conversation stares at you in shock.
Great, it is now 5:00 PM, you embarrased yourself in front of a co-worker and while talking to your boss on the phone, now what?

Maniacal Nov 21, 2008, 05:58 PM SEPULCHRITUDE
What does that mean?
Catharsis Nov 21, 2008, 06:02 PM Doesn't matter, it's just a reference and I would've literally burst if I didn't post it. Ignore it. Carry on with your game.
(BTW, "a term used to describe a hot goth girl", apparently. News to me.)

MrPopov Nov 21, 2008, 07:14 PM before leaving for the day he decides to finally fix that picture that is hanging on the wall (The one that is backwards) but completely ignores the piling trash.
Ninja Dude Nov 21, 2008, 07:46 PM Just leave the building.

Ouch, that hurt, you lose 1 HP. The moniter is cracked. But still operating... *wiggles mouse* or the image is frozen in place. Whatever, it has been a hard day at work and you'll just leave it to the evening shift to deal with, along with your overflowing garbage. You decide that since you were off work 20 minutes ago it would be a good time to start heading home but first, you fix the two pictures someone has hung up backwards.

Do you;
A) Heat up lunch you brought from home and didn't have time to eat.
or
B) Leave the building headed for the subway.
First one with at least three votes in three hours wins.
Captain2 Nov 21, 2008, 08:56 PM A!!!
lunch is an important meal of the day
Ninja Dude Nov 21, 2008, 09:02 PM A
Eatin' is important.
GoodGame Nov 21, 2008, 09:10 PM Yeah it's a jungle out there, so heat up lunch first.
e350tb Nov 21, 2008, 11:11 PM A.
What game is this?
Maniacal Nov 21, 2008, 11:36 PM I'm using Garry's Mod to create a story.

You survey the "break room" at work, it is extremely messy. Seems like nobody takes out the garbage around here. Repulsed by filth and rotten mess inside the fridge you decide it might be better to just go home.
(Also I was unable to find a working link for food to add into the game, sorry, will keep looking)
Do you;
A) Get a ride home with a co-worker.
or
B) Walk home, it's only a few blocks and maybe you can stop to get something hot to eat.
Captain2 Nov 21, 2008, 11:41 PM A, work on your people skills
Ninja Dude Nov 21, 2008, 11:45 PM B. We have to walk. Surely we will get ourselves into some crazy hi-jinks on our way home.
Nylan Nov 22, 2008, 01:10 AM These boots were made for walking.
e350tb Nov 22, 2008, 02:13 AM B sounds good. Is there a bank on the way home? He could rob it!
GoodGame Nov 22, 2008, 09:38 AM A., if your co-worker is a hot female. (Bonus points if her game model is a hot pr0n star).
Otherwise, B.
toda Nov 23, 2008, 10:03 AM Switch off all the lights and get eaten by a grue.
Edit: Failing that, go with B.
Edit 2: And check your inventory.
rhawn Nov 23, 2008, 10:16 AM B. Supposing that getting something "hot" to eat means browsing the nearby red lights district.
Catharsis Nov 23, 2008, 12:41 PM Ride co-worker like a mechanical bull.
(by which I mean Option A)
sirtommygunn Nov 23, 2008, 01:43 PM Ride co-worker like a mechanical bull.
Wow, what a waste of time.
Maniacal Nov 23, 2008, 02:34 PM Ride co-worker like a mechanical bull.
(by which I mean Option A)
Not if you want a second date.
Also 6-2 in favour of B. I'll get an update this afternoon, hopefully soon.
Maniacal Nov 27, 2008, 02:59 PM http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b357/PrinceScamp/CFCCYOA/855b72a5a6485926982c6cc16abb8112ac2.png
On your walk home you decide to pick up a burger at the local fast food joint, seeing as how you havn't had anything to eat since breakfast. Looking at the greasy and somewhat zombie-like workers, you start to feel better about your own job.
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b357/PrinceScamp/CFCCYOA/d1d0abcdaa46f6e96bde9e1ad2e5e44f6ee.png
With your burger under your arm (in a take out container), you ponder your route home while waiting for the light to turn red (not that there is any traffic).
A) Left to go to the supermarket.
B) Straight on to a few small stores, and the government building.
C) Right to the gas station. Although there is nothing there for you.
D) Straight home (I need to find which apartment would work for you, so I don't know which direction it is in).
e350tb Nov 27, 2008, 11:55 PM A. We should restock on food.
silver 2039 Nov 28, 2008, 12:26 AM B. Government buildings sounds cool.
GoodGame Nov 28, 2008, 09:09 AM A. Restock on food, because the zombie horror is sure to come soon.
toda Nov 28, 2008, 12:32 PM C. All locations in an adventure game must have some uses.
dude_lewis1 Nov 28, 2008, 06:52 PM A. You have to get some cleaning supplies for your office.
Captain2 Nov 28, 2008, 06:54 PM B!
the government deserves visiting

Maniacal Dec 01, 2008, 12:37 PM Hold your horses. I wasn't at the right computer from friday to sunday evening. Update today, I promise!
EDIT: By today I meant today in PST, so it won't be done until tonight after I get home from work.
Maniacal Dec 02, 2008, 03:18 PM http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b357/PrinceScamp/CFCCYOA/8162e7c93192db6a4367cf48941f99ee60d.png
Ah yes, the good old Cubs Foods, serving your town for, well, as long as you can remember. A police officer is standing outside, there has been a recent wave of shoplifting.
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b357/PrinceScamp/CFCCYOA/eaede393e48545268fc9c5f8e0feb4b035b.png
You go inside. Those are shopping carts on your right (the character's right, not the viewers).
Will you take a shopping cart or not?
What do you want to buy and how much?
Mulholland Dec 02, 2008, 06:52 PM Which one involves you shooting someone or jumping on some crazy Source based physics rocket?
sirtommygunn Dec 02, 2008, 06:56 PM Don't take a shopping cart, we aren't buying much.
silver 2039 Dec 02, 2008, 06:58 PM Those shopping carts are huge. Take them for a joyride and crash into stuff.
CCRunner Dec 02, 2008, 09:50 PM Those shopping carts are huge. Take them for a joyride and crash into stuff.
I second the motion to create a commotion.
Captain2 Dec 02, 2008, 10:17 PM I support the motion previously supported
e350tb Dec 03, 2008, 02:11 AM Trolley ride, trolley ride!
Then shoot someone!
Catharsis Dec 03, 2008, 03:16 AM Purchase the following:
Doughnuts (donuts)
Remote-controlled car
Use them to get rid of the policeman. Then do the trolley joyride thing.
GoodGame Dec 03, 2008, 09:14 AM Buy: matches, butane fluid, glass mason jars, dishrags so we can make molotov cocktails.
Also buy ramen (any flavor, it all tastes the same), oysters, soy sauce, and tuna so we can make some soup.
Maniacal Dec 03, 2008, 10:55 AM I'll get an update done tomorrow, maybe two as I have the day off.
Also in the picture where you are standing at the street light, I forgot to mention, the GMAN is hidden in there, there will be cookies and a prize for whoever finds him first.
Small update;
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b357/PrinceScamp/CFCCYOA/02586784f29a00f3766d1a390c03ca5a600.png
You ride a cart into the store happy as you can be, which aisle do you go down?
GoodGame Dec 03, 2008, 02:35 PM It's 'aisle', not 'isle'. Lets check out contraceptive aisle first! Can't wait to try the new anti-head humpers condoms.
I don't see G-man, in the street light photo, unless he's wearing citizen clothes.
CCRunner Dec 03, 2008, 03:21 PM Go down the booze aisle and knock it all on the floor!
silver 2039 Dec 03, 2008, 05:20 PM I agree. We go down the aisle with the most breakable items.
e350tb Dec 03, 2008, 06:28 PM I concur to these staements of breakable areas.
dude_lewis1 Dec 03, 2008, 06:45 PM Motion to break things seconded.
Maniacal Dec 03, 2008, 11:51 PM I don't see G-man, in the street light photo, unless he's wearing citizen clothes.
Oh, he's there, he's just really, really hard to find. Also you can't see his head, it somehow got stuck inside something.
Also, I'm having trouble building the store, as it is empty and the default items I have are run down and look fugly.

Also I wish they would stop making models using real life products, GAHUGH. Fugly.
carmen510 Dec 09, 2008, 06:56 PM I also agree to the most breakable items. I think I see the G-Man, is he inside the left curved bar which shows the outside of the street?
sirtommygunn Dec 09, 2008, 07:05 PM I think I see him behind the truck.
Maniacal Dec 10, 2008, 12:05 AM I think I see him behind the truck.
Look a bit higher.
As for the update, I will do soon, I'm busy tomorrow and the weekend,
P.M. Petros Jan 13, 2009, 02:19 AM Is that him in the circle?
Oh, I'm for breaking stuff too.
Maniacal Jan 13, 2009, 02:32 AM Yes, yes it is. Congratulations!
I should update this at some point. I can't few a few days though.
There is a prize, not sure what yet.
