Yeah I know I'm a n00b, but I thought this might be an interesting idea: a BtS mod that emulates the gameplay of Colonization! Of course I just joined so I would need a lot more practice before I tried that, but maybe somebody else would like to make that. I'm just throwing out the idea. Hey, I'm learning and maybe I could eventually help! Some of my ideas that are different from Colonization:

5 European Civs- England, France, The Netherlands, Spain, Portugal

Play as Native Americans- Play as the Sioux, Aztec, and Iruqouis

Choice of Revolution (only for English)- Choose to become the USA or Canada

Early Exploration- You could have the option to start in your home country and explore the New World before placing a colony.

I think you should expand it a little bit, if you were to do this, and add the Tupi and Arawak tribes. And I would allow revolutions for the Spanish and Portugese civs as well (at least, although I think all civs should be able to rebel).

Well first of all the purpose is to make a version of Colonization playable by those who don't have Colonization (I don't and I probably won't until Christmas). And yes, all Civs could rebel, but only the English could choose to become either the USA or Canada.

I doubt that Firaxis/2K Games would appreciate such ideas...
Also, I do not think is makes much sense to develop a mod that replicates already existing game - there are so many new and creative things that can be done instead.
Maybe if it would differ more from colonization itself, it would be a good idea.
By the way, I think it would be good if french rebels could form Canada, too. You may call it Quebec if you prefer ;) Not that Canada was established by rebels in the first place...
I can think of many countries that can be formed by spanish rebels.
