Are you trying to extract the file after you have downloaded it? Did you use a download accelerator to download it? I started to have problems with corrupt FFH2 downloads after I used a download accelerator, that could be your problem. Download it normally and it'll work.

I don't use anything of the sort. I just click the link, it loads like normal, then right before the extraction screen should show up, I get that pop up telling me to try a different file.

Sometimes downloads get corrupted. Have you tried more than once?

Works fine for me, just redownloaded the mod. What exactly are trying to extract, anyway? It's an installer, so I'm not sure how you would be attempting to extract it.

the file should be an .exe installer- no extraction is necessary.

yeah u see when I used a download accelerator it would rename the file to x6 and I would have to change the extension to exe, but recently, starting with the .34 release I have not been able to do this and now just dl the normal way. Thats what I figured was going on with this guy.

When you attempt to download it again, do not download to the same location/filename. Many browsers attempt to speed up the re-download process by looking at the file you already have and "picking up where it left off" But in your case it obviously missed something along the way, or stopped early. However, the computer is not noticing this and maintains the broken pieces in the new download.

Create a new folder and save in there, or just add a number or letter to the end of the filename before you allow it to save. Should help it work better on a new download attempt.

Also, try clearing your browser cache and deleteing the exsiting file. Also check you have enough hard disk space and that you are not saving to a removable media like USB drive.

I don't get far enough to get to the installer. My computer gives that message just before I'm finished downloading. I'll try to download again though....

Iv'e decided to reintall my copy of civ(I hope this works)....

Anyways, this is kinda off topic, but I was wondering, do you guys on the FF team have any plans on when you're going to convert to Colinization. I don't have it yet so.... no rush :).

I don't have it either, so no rush here :p

From what I understand, all the mechanics are VERY different in Colonization. So a straight up port would be relatively impossible/impractical. I suppose you might be able to ignore a lot of the new factors of colonization and attempt to wrestle it back to being plain ol' Civ with a slightly improved engine... but why?

I DO have colonization, and have to say that without some miracle code work, a port of FF would NEVER successfully work. Maybe a small mod-mod focusing on the Lanun... But a straight-up port is just not a good idea.

So you got to work pratically form the ground up? That really sucks.... O well, such is the price of progress...

Civ IV BTS 3.17 patch: http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/civilizationivbeyondthesword/patch/24475.html

FfH II 0.34: http://www.moddb.com/mods/fall-from-heaven-ii-032/downloads/fall-from-heaven-ii-032

FfH II 0.34 patch H: http://kael.civfanatics.net/files/FfH2034h.exe

Just to be safe, to a clean reinstall of Civ IV + BTS, apply the 3.17 BTS patch, then install FfH 034, then patch it up to H.
If it works, you could then go on to download the media patch if you want the extra cutscenes in the game.

Hope this helps~

oops just noticed its the FF you wanted

FF 043: http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=8500&act=down

043 patch D: http://grahamcox.co.uk/ffh/fallfurther/FF043-PatchD.exe

In retrospect you might just wanna do a clean reinstall of civ+FfH if you're having probs with FF as well. Might want to leave where Civ and FfH installs in their default locations since FF picks up parts of stuff from the FfH folder.

I don't know exacally which file. All I now is that every time I try to intall FF now, my comp says it has detected a virus. I really hope my computers just retarded, but it doesn't usually do things like that. At the moment I have Telus Security System installed, and it's pretty good for the most part.

I've redownloaded all the FfH and FF files, and none of them contain a virus... You sure the virus isn't on your end?

I downloaded patch 3.17 (forgot to upon reinstalling civ :mischief:), but for some reason I can't extract the file. When I try a pop up says "Error reading file". I use Microsoft Extraction Wizzard (the default for Microsoft).... What is wrong

I've rid myself of that troublesome virus, and I will now try to dowload again. Thanks for all your help. If it doesn't work this time.... never mind... Thanks.
