Hi there!
I just got tired of the new Colonization remake and i would really love to discover new game for these dark months ahead of us.

I love empirebuilding games:king:
Other games ive Enjoyed the last couple of years includes
-Civ 4 incl. all the exp-packs
-Settlers (actually didnt really enjoy it this one)
-CivRome
-Mount&blade
-Patricians
-Port Royal
-Ceacar

It does not have to be a new game. I often find that older games in this genre are just as fun, since resources are spend on gameplay instead of fancy graphics.

Any ideas on what do purchase next?

The EU series by Paradox might be something you like. Or perhaps Victoria: Empire under the sun.

Civilization II or the Europa Universaille or Victoria as suggested. There is also Dominions III or the Total War series.

With expansions the time periods are extended.

I would reccomend Master of Orion 2 if you can get your hands on it.
It's quite old, but still the best Space TBS after all these years.

Quoted For Truth! That was one fun game to play, especially when you got into the late game in MP and you were in competition with your friends to see who could research advanced engineering techs fast enough to be the first to design a Stellar Converter-armed Frigate.... My one friend called them "One-hit wonders:" One hit and they were gone, but woe to he who was on the receiving end of a "first strike" by a fleet of them.... AAH, the memories!

Also, Medieval Total War was pretty good.

The Total War series. If you want the cutting edge one you can wait til february for Empire:Total War. If you want something cheap, you can probably find a copy of Rome:TW cheap enough. I wouldn't bother with Rome's expansions and M2:TW is good but not worth the extra price if you don't care about eye candy.

Get RTW Gold, as the Barbarian Expansion is needed for some mods.

My personal favories have been:

Europa Universalis II (1419 - 1819)
Hearts of Iron II (1936 - 1948/53)
Rome: Total War (Republic to Empire)
Medieval II: Total War (1066 - 1520?)

From those people, there is also going to be 2 games coming out next year:

Empire: Total War (1700's - 1815?)
Hearts of Iron III (1936-1948)

BI usually isn't necessary for the best mods, but it helps, cause the AI is superior. And all mods have a variant that runs off of BI.exe anyway. :p

1701 AD is a great city management game. Combat is atrocious though.

Rome Total War if you want a casual, yet very strategic game.

Anything by Paradox if you want headaches and a very steep learning curve.

The good old classics. Imperialism and Imperialism II: Age of Exploration

are two good empire building games :).

What those two said.

I've probably literally spent three months of my life playing Victoria and Hearts of Iron II.

Apart from Paradox games, many Impressions games were good back in the day.

These include titles like Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, the Caesar series, and Pharaoh.

... many Impressions games were good back in the day.

They still are. I'm currently replaying Caesar and Pharaoh, the two best ones.
