View Full Version : Please help me with units_32.pcx?
dannyevilcat Aug 24, 2002, 01:59 AM I'm too stupid to make my own units_32 file (I try, 8-bit, 256 colour, etc, but it never works right!)
All I want is to add Kinboat's Jump Carrier to the other one I've enclosed in the zip file here.
It should only take a quick moment for someone who knows how to do it, and I'll be your new best friend :D
Please?
dannyevilcat Aug 24, 2002, 02:00 AM See? I can't even remember to attach the file!
zulu9812 Aug 24, 2002, 02:27 AM check out my sig :)
dannyevilcat Aug 24, 2002, 02:33 AM But it doesn't have Balou's modern infantry, does it?
I downloaded yours (at least, I think it was?) and didn't see it there.
zulu9812 Aug 24, 2002, 04:10 AM sorry, I thought all you wanted was to add the Jump Carrier ;)
I was going to wait until Smoking Mirror did his naval units, but I guess I'll just put a new version out anyway! :p
dannyevilcat Aug 24, 2002, 04:39 AM Good stuff, thanks.
zulu9812 Aug 24, 2002, 05:04 AM updated the file :D
Polaris Aug 24, 2002, 07:33 AM Dannyevilcat, here is your units_32 file with the jump carrier added.;)
zulu9812 Aug 24, 2002, 07:39 AM you've broken the grid lines, I think it might cause problems
Polaris Aug 24, 2002, 09:35 AM You're right Zulu9812. What dimentions should I be using to preserve the grid lines? Until now, I thougt the squares were 33x33. Nothing else seems to line up.
Polaris Aug 24, 2002, 09:46 AM Ok, here's the fixed version.
zulu9812 Aug 24, 2002, 10:04 AM 32x32 pixels are the dimensions of each square
Polaris Aug 24, 2002, 02:28 PM Thanks Zulu. I tried that in Paint Shop Pro, but for some reason, it doesn't line up. Back to the drawing board.
zulu9812 Aug 24, 2002, 02:42 PM If you're pasting as transparent, try pasting as new selection instead. Transparency doesn't really matter, and pasting the background as well as the foreground will help with positioning.
dannyevilcat Aug 24, 2002, 05:53 PM Thanks guys. I owe ya one :)
EDIT: I pasted the whole selection when I tried it. I tried converting it into a bitmap and back, and also tried cutting straight from .pcx to .pcx. But the file would always save a few KB's less than the original, even though it should be the other way around, and it just never works.
(It's my crappy graphics program. I'll start looking for a new one.)
Polaris Aug 25, 2002, 12:41 AM Zulu, I set my grid guide in Paint Shop to 32 X 32 in the preferences section. I downloaded your units_32 sheet, but the grid lines don't match up. I checked "change grid guide properties" and it said 32 X 32 as well. What am I doing wrong? When I set it to 33 x 33, it lines up perfectly.
Polaris Aug 25, 2002, 12:51 AM Okay, I think I found the problem. Everything needs to be set to inches rather than pixels, right? Making this change seemed to line everything up.
Polaris Aug 25, 2002, 01:13 AM Now, the snap to grid won't work with everything set to inches, arrrrh!
zulu9812 Aug 25, 2002, 05:33 AM dunno what to say really - I always work with pixels, the dimensions of each square on my icon sheet is 32x32 and I never use this 'snap to grid' thingy either...
Polaris Aug 25, 2002, 06:52 AM Okay, thanks anyway zulu9812. I guess I'll just have to lean to get along without using the snap to grid.
