As requested by mister president: a poll!
We've got 5 units right now and we have to decide if and what they are going to explore.

First, phalanx in RC, it is at the moment not necessary for keeping peace in RC so it can (as Duke of Marlbrough said) move up one north and back again to reveal another black square. It's not really necessary because I think the land north to RC is connected to our land and can be revealed by other units. But said again it won't hurt us so let's do it anyway.

Archer NW of TFalls. It has two options I think: exploring north (option B) or exploring south in the region of the new SSC, revealing some tiles there and staying there for protection of the new SSC city (option A). Advantage of option A is that the new SSC won't have to build a defensive unit first (archer has a defense of 2) and can start on colossus right away!

I think we will decide on popping the hut so the route of the legion has been drawn and it will pop the hut. Then I suggest it to follow the river: it can move fast by doing that. The chariot will assist in popping the hut and then has two options: go west (option C) or go east (option D) I like it to go east because it will probably reveal land there which will be close to the capitol and therefore cities founded there will have less (unrest) problems than cities founded far away.

The horseman will move to TFalls and will make the people happy there.

OK, vote and discuss, now! :whipped:

Swing the chariot eastward and explore the region north of RC, lets see if it really is connected as hoped. I don't see the point of sending a third unit north also so we should let it explore sout of the new SSC and then defend it for reasons mentioned.

Nice picture, Civ1! Archer B NE, Chariot up river then swing back D SE, Phx up and back. The D area is close to our capital, and therefore would siffer low corruption.

Our Archer has been wandering anyway, so why not wander north just in case, then meander back south to meet our Settlers.

Regarding the Hut, I'm ambivalent. A Settler from None would be superlative, of course, but not expected this close to home, eh?

I like the idea of the archer following A as there are a few more tiles to discover there and it can then wait there for the settler. This poll does mean that the chariot will move into position, this turn and then pop the hut on the next turn I believe. Also where will the legion go next? If the chariot goes D then the legion should follow the river NE

I agree with Dell. :)

I don't know which unit will be the first to move in a turn, chariot or legion but I think it would be best to let the chariot pop the hut next turn like Dell said.
When the legion pops the hut it has 1/3 movement left to attack any barbs, the chariot has more left (1 2/3 movement I think) so let the chariot pop the hut, if barbs arise at the side of the legion it can still attack and has 2/3 movement left to attack which seems to be better.

I voted option #1. I agree with the argument that the
Archer should get those tiles to the south, and therefore
be available for the Gem City. I think the Chariot should go
W (D), and let the Legion go East, since it will be a while before
a settler can get up to the area N of RC, and so speed isn't
as critical. IMHO we should push west ASAP to see if we have neighbors.

Of course, if the hut yields another unit, it all becomes academic (i.e. another poll will probably be necessary)...

If we get another unit then I will probably send it west whilst the Legion follows the river and the chariot goes down.

I suggest we thoroughly explore the Coast of Faith to the east of our capital. That might entail rough terrain, to which our legion is best suited. Our chariot may take the easy ground, loosely searching northward.

Its just as likely to have mountains to the North as to the East.

Total votes so far:
Option A: 7
Option B: 3

Option C: 4
Option D: 6

Option A and D get the most votes, option A and D is the second option in the poll which also has the highest number of votes. :crazyeye:
