We still need a generic terrorist units for terrorist attacks. It probably should look very inconspicuous, like a normal citizen.

You mean the unique units that you are coming up with? We have to get the list ready before we can start on art.

Here's how we're doing things, whether it is unique buildings, unique units, or just the standard units that are listed in this thread:

1- get a list of all the units/buildings we want to include.
2- add the xml for them to the game with placeholders.
3- create a checklist (like above) so artists can see what needs to be done.


It is unlikely that we will have 100% original art for each of the 48 UUs and UBs by the time we release version 1.0. I think our goal should be to have art for about 20 of each for version 1.0, and good placeholders for the rest. Once we have a working mod more and more artists will be interested in creating stuff for it.

Alright, hold a bit of this off. I'm going to try to stay as apolitical as possible when I say this, but you simply cannot lump all the rebel forces in the world together. They have different objectives, and as such, cannot all be placed into the label of barbarians who have declared war on all civilizations. It may be the best idea to create several "barbarian" civs and make different true civilizations at peace with them at the start, but we've already got a dangerously high player count as it is.

But if you have any specific suggestions as to what we should change, feel free to make them.

You could remove some of the rebels and replace some of their actions with events. That might be more favorable for places such as Chiapas and Tibet, because they haven't really ground their countries to a standstill the way some of the really cruel militants in the Middle East and Africa have; they're fighting for political goals, not based on intolerance. Thus, events could spring up saying "They're making such and such a demand" and you have to choose an option such as "Do nothing" (rebels will pillage improvements/city buildings), "crackdown" (requires certain number of troops) "address some grievances by paying" (requires certain amount of cash) and "agree to their demands" (change to certain civic or something). I don't know how to code the game's events, but that would be a simple and realistic way to do things.

Alternately, if you can't make five barbarian civs, maybe just two, "leftist rebels" and "rightist rebels," and again start certain leaders at peace with one of them.

For anyone else who wants to help find units, the best place to start looking has got to be here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=50). If you can't find a unit with the exact same name, one that looks similar is fine. We can always change names and strengths, what we need is the 3d art. I've tried to include links to pictures of all the units we need to help you guys. (Sorry, haven't had the time to find pics of naval units yet)

You can also look through full modpacks (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=2), many of these have units (as well as buildings/leaderheads) that can't be found elsewhere, that we may be able to use.

Everyone is fighting for political goals, most are based on intolerance. Obviously I agree that there are vast differences between different groups/causes. Good idea to have at very least left wing/right wing rebels. Maybe we could have what rebels you are at war with change when you change ideologies/civics. This would clearly require some coding we won't be able to get done for some time though, as we already have a backlog in that department.

We'll leave it as is for now, and play around with it once we get everything else done and start testing.

Thats a great looking model, but I dont think it matches anything modern in design, either MBT, AFV or APC. Nice find though, someone put alot of work into that baby :p

Also the Vanguard class SSBN is one of the few units that is already actually in our mod, it came with the nuke mod along with a bunch of fancy nukes. So there's one more ticked off our list.

Sheep21, I think we're in business. We can use most of the models you found and that we were discussing over yahoo. As you said, it is basically a matter of lowering textures and/or polygons, and then exporting them with the civ4 3dsmax plugin.

Can anyone compile all of this artwork into sets for each civ? I don't know anywhere near enough about the units to be able to do it, and Matty's too busy with the rest of the mod, so I'm hoping someone else with more knowledge could do so. I would suggest the groupings be made as such:

- USA + Canada
- Mexico
- South America
- UK
- Western Europe
- Russia + Former Soviet States
- East Asia
- Middle East
- North Africa
- Central Africa
- South Africa
- Australia
- any other countries that don't fit into these categories

Obviously, I know next to nothing about the military, so those groupings are probably horrifically wrong, but you get the idea.

There is a Chinese Stealthbomber project I have seen. I'm not at home at the moment but I would be able to find it when I get back home. I will upload the picture but it looks a lot like the B-2 Bomber. Given the way the Chinese seem to be copying military technology this look-alike for the American B-2 doesn't look so out of place...
