View Full Version : graphics downloads fewi Aug 25, 2002, 11:11 AM Hiya, i have downloaded graphics to add to civ 3 and have un zipped them all, but don't know how to include/istall them in the game, i am very new to pc's so please go easy on me. Thanks:confused: tyguyx12 Aug 25, 2002, 11:41 AM most graphics come with a readme file that tell you where to put them. If the graphics you downloaded are of terrain just put them in the terrain folder under the arts folder. Bamspeedy Aug 25, 2002, 11:45 AM there should be a readme.txt file with the downloads that will tell you where to put the files. But sometimes there isn't. First, save your Civ III folder in case the downloads, or something else causes your computer to crash you can go back to the way it was before the crash and not have to re-install the whole game. Go to My computer... C: .....Program Files.....Infogrames Interactive....Civilization III Then since you downloaded graphics, I bet you would go to the arts folder. Then find the folder that pertains to whatever graphic you downloaded. Move the files from the zipped file to the proper folder and if the computer asks if you would like to save over existing files say 'Yes to all'. If you are unsure what folder they go in, you would have to go into each folder and look at the files names and find files that are the same type (similar names and same type of file) as the ones you want to add. The above is for changing existing graphics ONLY. If you are adding NEW units, etc. it is more complicated as you would need a civlopedia entry and other things for them. I would ask in the Creation and Customization general forum for more info. Kryten Aug 26, 2002, 12:14 AM Everything that Bamspeedy said is correct. Downloading new units can be confusing if you've never done it before, so have a read of this.....:) VenomLord Aug 26, 2002, 02:36 AM thanks kryten, just what new modders need :D i figured it out myself but that would have saved me alot of time fewi Aug 26, 2002, 11:17 AM Thanks for all your help guys, much appreciated, big thanks to Kryten.:) |
