Thanks Whomp!
Hope everyone gets a kick out of this one.

Just in case anyone is interested in the music used (and why) – here are the details for you:

NFL Gameday – Jock Jams -- (because it's gametime!)
Drops of Jupiter – Train -- (Jupiter – Saturn … whatever, close enough!)
Kernkraft 400, Sport Chant Stadium Remix - Zombie Nation -- (Because we're awesome. Super awesome.)
Pon de Replay – Rihanna -- (Rihanna is from Barbados. Barbados is a Portuguese Word. Team 4 is playing the Portuguese. See? It makes sense!)
Spider Pig – Hans Zimmer, Simpsons Movie -- (Come on, this one is obvious.)
Tick Tick Boom – The Hives -- (Nothing says "big finish" like something exploding.)

Aside from that though, great work. :)

10 bonus points and the chance to see your name in the next Inner Sanctum Documentary for the first person who figures out which CFC member (who IS listed on the team roster maintained by Ginger_Ale) got left out.

The ISD apologises for the cut backs in the production values due to the increased allocation of resources to wonder builds, instead of military propaganda.

(I mean really, who needs propaganda when you're winning?)

The Cult of the Triple Alliance follows up on it's stunning Oracle build with a large phallic symbol made from the copper rims of kazakh chariots.

The Collosus:

Said Cult figure AT - "Well, we found this funny weed in the jungle and we were smoking it, dude. And then Memphus says "we should build this TOTALLY huge guy and Krill says "Dude, that's a great idea" then Memphus says "People will come to see it and throw money on the water and we'll collect it" and Krill goes "DUDE!! What a totally kick-ass idea!!" and Memphus says "We'll call it The Colloseum" and Krill goes "Dude, that name sucks - how about the Rathaus?
and Dreylin goes "Rat House?" and General_w goes "combine them - the Ratoleum". But all we remembered was to combine them, so we got Collosus - eh.

The Pyramids:

SANCTAN scientists have investigated claims that the square-based tetrahedron-like object known colloquially as a pyramid has vast powers, including sharpening Cult axes made dull chopping up defeated Kazahk chariots, preserving food for cooking on fires made by the wood in destroyed Kazah chariots, and providing extra energy for Cultish victory dances around the fires made from Kazahk chariots. While the majority of the claims have turned out to merely be the ravings of diseased minds, we have discovered that the craps tables we installed are making people happier, and funding scientific research for many of our residents - including, oddly, the ballerinas.

"The creation of a wonder dedicated to light might seem strange for a super awesome civilization based on the Tao of the Ninja, as the perception is that Ninja's prefer the dark. This is simply not true - Ninja's work best in the shadows, striking from where they are unexpected and snatching the prize right from under the noses of imperialistic running dogs.

We create a beacon of light to speak for the thousand points of light, of all the community organizations that are spread like stars throughout the Cult, doing good. We illuminate the people and the programs that are the brighter points of light, and we ask every member of the Cult to become involved. The old ideas are new again because they are not old, they are timeless: duty, sacrifice, commitment.

Personally I just like it because it lights to way home from the pub after closing time.

...we have discovered that the craps tables we installed are making people happier, and funding scientific research for many of our residents - including, oddly, the ballerinas.

Our Ballerinas got quite upset. They had no Music to dance to.

As such, funded by the craps tables, the SANCTA'n scientist got to work, feverishly, in the middle of a war none the less, to find a way to discover this so called Music.

The task at hand?

Out research thier current war rival which had a 3 tech lead in the race!!!

However with focus and dedication, such as the Ninja way, we have pulled off another miracle in this game.

SANCTA is proud to announce the birth of Raphael

as the first team to discover Music

Let the Ballerinas rejoice!

Memphus:

Maces...what Maces? :wow: Oh yes a war is happening...thanks guys...at least Ti Kuan Yuan (formerly) Angle now in the proper hands, will have Walls and some Longbows to shoot from them. Zero our front line city, will have to rely on it's troops which have been fortified there for a long time. And Moral. With Proper Moral an Axe can take a Mace anyday! :run:

But more importantly...Now that our Ballerinas are happy, how do we find a way to ride those horses or elephants we have?

The recent successes of the SBSF in adding the great city of Ti Kuan Yin to the growing empire and the ensuing border war with Kazakhstan had been good for the men

Unfortunately doubts as to the sanity of SANCTAN leadership with rumors of Kaz super weapons had begun to eat at their confidence. While at first their was speculation about reasearching this Music...Seeing some of the superweapons (men in armor with odd looking weapons of iron balls at the end of sticks) brought further unease to the forces here, offset only a little by the arrival of the new more powerful bows, but morale hit a nadir recently, as a large force of these armored behemoths, accompanied by men on horses, men with machines that threw rocks - and, off in the distance, men on elephants. SANCTAN counsilors were rumored to be in a tizzy, with leaders AT and Ronnie urging for a strong defense.

The fear - not just for their lives, but for the thought of not being able to protect the brave pioneers who's lived were in their hands - was palpable, even numbing.

Then came rumors of a great sea battle in the East, of victory against all odds, and the urge to strike these arrogant invaders rose. Hearing of this, Counsilors Krill and Memphus concocted a plan and tasked a leader named Geronimo, to lead our forces. The attack was greatly successul and we welcome Geronimo as our Great General.

We expect that to be the battle cry for our soldiers every time they jump into hopeless odds from now on. They seem to do that a lot...

I talked with GG Geronimo about the battle:
Dread Ninja Roberts: General Geronimo, how do you explain the success? Some of those attacks seemed to shear suicide attacks, yet they succeeded?"
GGG: Well, Clete - can I call you Clete? I worship at altars of the old gods of the Triple Alliance - Ra, Nemesis and Gaia - and they can affect the outcomes. We think the Kaz forces were confused that they were being attacked - or perhaps they just weren't used to their new weapons - or, quite possibly, one of the gods just decided to be arbitrary.

This is Clete Roberts, somewhere in the fields (or woods, or hills, or river) near the front lines, signing off."

This is a SANCTAN News Leak:
From the furtive transcriptions of a secretary hidden in the curtains (Update: Now mysteriously dead of natural causes)

Krill leaned back in his chair and put his feet on the desk. “Well Memphus, after finishing getting my office moved, I’m like super bored. We need to find something interesting to do.”

Memphus, after managing to squash a yawn struggling for freedom, responded “Yeah, I know, ever since that amusing war-game at TKY I’ve been, like, you know, twiddling my thumbs in boredom. Have you tried that new opera, according to rumor it’s not all that bad.”

“Nah, I know Charge of the Ninja Axe Brigade, is patriotic, and part of the way of the ninja and all that, but really, ninja ballerinas with axes, really? Who in their right mind would do that?”

“Well I had too after I let Iamjohn and Ronnie1 try to do that whole ninja feast day thing, AT was not happy when that smell settled around his villa, and with that thing with the trireme that AT did I couldn’t say much you know.”

Krill gave a glare Memphus “You were the one who approved that? Did you even bother to look at that weird fruit those two knuckleheads stockpiled from jungle? I had to buy a whole new wardrobe after that debacle, and I don’t even know how they didn’t go unconscious from the smell after they started throwing it at each other.”

“Well you weren’t the only one who had to endure hardship, I had to move the whole capital, that stupid fruit they started throwing everywhere made a weird smell I couldn’t get out of palace no matter how many scientists I ‘encouraged’ to clean it up.”

Krill sighed, “Well as long as you had to endure as much inconvenience as me. Still though, that opera AT’s obsessing over is weird Memphus, I need to something to distract me from that sound.”

“Yeah, just the thought of Ninjas singing is weird. Well if it’s that hard on you go figure out how to make the rest of the scientists happy, they aren’t all that delighted after I made their buddies go clean up that mess Iamjohn and Ronnie made.”

“Hmm, sounds like an interesting idea, maybe if I threw some more money at them, shouted at them a couple times they’d do something worthwhile. And that weird lighthouse they’ve been obsessing over for awhile finally got one them to get off their butts and do something now that I think about it too, maybe he can do something useful, or at the very least come up with some sort of idea how to remove that horrid smell.”

“Well it’s worth a shot- toying with people is fun, you want to see if you can research liberalism? The peasants will like pretending they have a choice after we forced them to keep on living in that town after we stunk it up so horribly then left.”

“Who is saying we?” Krill restarted glaring at Memphus for including him in the newly dubbed Deathfruit controversy.

Memphus ignored him and continued prattling on “But won’t the little people be surprised when we start randomly selecting people to fight! Heh, researching liberalism is sounding better and better!”

Krill paused glaring temporarily and considered- “Hmm, we might have to stop allowing them to eat, maybe mass transporting some of the population again, enslave some more, you’re right, this might be interesting to consider for an afternoon.”

“Hey they should be used to it by now anyway.”

Dear People of the World,

It is I, General_W of the Ninjas with an important announcement!

You know… General_W!

The voice of SANCTA. Diplomat emeritus. Creator of the Inner Sanctum Documentaries.

Well, they were a series of videos commenting on the news and stuff.

Well, I suppose it has been quite a while, but surely you must remember them?

No? really? Doesn’t even ring a bell?

Ok then… well anyway – I have some news now.

Would you let it go?! I’m sorry I’ve been gone so long… just get over it already. Sheesh.

After a long sabbatical, I have returned to find my once glorious team totally eviscerated. Krill is gone. Memphus has been driven out. General_aWol can’t be trusted anywhere near the reigns of power. And the rest of the ninjas? A motley assortment of lurkers, drive-by posters, and semi-actives that can’t play the save. It’s a sad deal.

Already the government is on some sort of horrific night-of-the-undead auto pilot that somehow manages to be both inefficient AND slow. Clearly not a good situation for anyone on any team. Our current operations are unfair to the people on other teams who want a real fight, and also seriously un-fun for those who remember that this is still, afterall, a game.

The best of our bad options seems to be turning over our empire to the AI who can at least get the save played on time and offer an imitation of strategy.
In the interests of full disclosure – we offered all of our cities to team SATURN to do with as they wish. They have been our allies in-game and our sudden departure will move them from the grim situation of 3v2 into the horrifying situation of 3v1. We were trying to find the best way to honor a very close alliance and attempt to leave Saturn with something resembling a sporting chance.
SATURN declined most of our cities, and we have opted, instead, to gift them to team KAZAKSTAN in an effort to keep this game interesting.

We’re letting the rest of you know about our intentions and actions, so that if you’d like to make your arguments to eachother about how the cities get passed out – you can do that. Don’t bother arguing with us about it. Our complaints department is totally understaffed, and I doubt you’ll get much response. I’m pretty sure Automatedteller still reads the notes from the complaints box… but by “reads” I mean “takes them down to the bar to read at the open-mike comedy improv session to a bunch of drunk ninjas” for whatever that’s worth.

We should be completely out of this game in about 2 turns. We’re sorry to do this to all of you.

Really we are. We literally have no good options left – and we sincerely hope that the game goes on to provide many hours of fun and enjoyment for every team left. We’ve had a lot of fun, and are sorry to end on a bum note. Hopefully the sad end of the Ninjas doesn’t totally wipe away the memories of all the good times.

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
“My Name is OzyNinjas, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Might, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare

In hindsight, it's kind of amusing that even if we didn't get the Oracle, Saturn would've got it ~6-7 turns before Cav, even though we were so sure that Cav were very close to building the Oracle themselves.

That is because you did not know at the time that the mapmaker woud give only one team a second city spot with food copper and 10 chops!

I don't really see how that's relevant to my post.

No one else was close because none else could do what you did with your second city, because noone else has such a site.

However it is true that your dedication on getting Oracle was by far greater than Cav's so propably even if they had such a site you would still get it.

But my point was, that had SANCTA chose to ignore the Oracle, Saturn would've beaten Cavs anyway. So, in hindsight, the banter we directed at Cavs was misguided, and what appeared to be Cav feeling that we stole the Oracle from them was actually incorrect.

Saturn was 8 turns away from Oracle not 6. So it is not certain that they would beat Cav should you had chosen to ignore it.

Cav were supposed to get the Oracle around t68 IIRC, so Saturn would have had it...

Also, MS could have chopped out the Oracle in 1 turn with a city 23 of the pig (http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=197070&d=1229188437).

Cav could have chopped out the Oracle in 1 turn in Serpente, or anywhere north of their capital (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v619/RenataK2/CIV/overview0001.jpg)

Saturn could havbe chopped out the Oracle in 1 turn if they settled 1111 of their capital (http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=199367&d=1231261173)

Kaz could have done it if you settled the sheep/deer city first (http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=199711&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1231493045) instead of the gold city.

It would have been possible for Kaz to settle for horses/cow first and chop out the Oracle in 1 turn. Saturn had horrendous land that meant they would never be a first rate civ anyway, with so little food. Cav could have played the start completely differently and they would have gotten the Oracle. I don't even kow what MS were doing, but anyone could have done it if they didn;t mind the consequences of their actions.

It's the knowledge at the time that guides the decisions, and we didn't know if anyone else was going for such a stunt. Although in hindsight if SANCTA hadn't gotten the Oracle We'd have been completely screwed.

Although, getting Fued from the Oracle is a long shot at the best of times in MP.

You forget Krill that the other teams were not creative. So us for example if we settled the sheep spot we would have had 3 chops available and 0 production (I dought that builds the Oracle in 1 turn).

Cav could have 6 chops, that is 120 hammers, still 30 hammers mising and no production tile was there to make these hammers.

You had copper tile (6 hammers) + 2 hammer pland + the hammer from wheat. That is 9 hammers/per turn copared to 2 hammers per turn that the other teams had. + you were creative so had plenty of chops to use both for overflow + directly into Oracle.

So if the competition of this game was build the Oracle in your second city as fast as possible you would win hands down.

*shrug* You should have considered the power of CRE when picking civs then, not like anyone forced you to not pick it.

So if the competition of this game was build the Oracle in your second city as fast as possible you would win hands down.

Kaz and Cav got second cities out pretty fast, could have easily grown to size 2 once food was hooked, slaved a monument, and prechopped forests for when the borders expanded. That would give enough forests quickly enough to get Oracle, maybe 10 hammers short which an overflow slave from a warrior would cover. Even without optimisation it's doable. Question is, how important was Oracle to every team? You said so yourself higher up and TBHI don;t think any team drastically needed it (and it definitely helped Cav from a metagame position if they lost it).

I don't think that Oracle won the game or even that it gave you such a big advantage in any way. Other things decided this game.

It is just that the discussion here is around the Oracle and I am pointing out that what you say is inaccurate and not all other teams could have done the 1 turn Oracle like you did.

That was your discussion with azzaman not me, I'm just illustrating why SANCTA did it that way for the benefit of the readers, nothing more.

OTOH, this comment is therefore wrong:

No my statement is not wrong (at least not completely).

The second city site you had was by far the best production site any other team had for a second city.

But it is true that your creative trait allowed you to take advantage of it, which you would not be able to do like you did if you had to chop monument etc.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying that you had the best land overall, just that the second production city along with your trait helped with the Oracle.

Actually I think the best overall second city site was ours (sheep spot), but gold is shiny and we failed to take advantage of it...one of the biggest mistakes if not THE biggest we did all game.

Not necessarily. I think we could've been successful without the Oracle had we met Kaz before Cav, or met Saturn much earlier.

No Oracle = No forges = No pyramids or collosus. No early gems either, so a much more limited happy cap, and a much more limited tech rate. We didn't have much cottagable land other than JD either.

I counted the tiles needed for a wb to meet Kaz before Cav did. It would have had to have been the second build we did, and when you look at the Kaz private forum there's alot of Anti-SANCTA feeling from early on in the game, thoughts about 4v1's against SANCTA etc, so meeting Kaz wouldn't have been all that useful...and the economy would have been that much weaker. Meeting Cav would have been useful though.

I was more thinking about meeting Saturn much earlier, but meeting Kaz earlier would've forced them to think harder about whether it was a wise idea to blow us off from day 1.

It's tough to say whould would have happened had SANCTA met Kaz before Cav met Kaz. We (on Kaz) were certainly wary of SANCTA from the beginning though some diplomacy on SANTCA's part might have changed that had we met first. :dunno:

I think if Cav and SANCTA had met first they would have formed a solid long term alliance. That was one of my big fears.

Had we met Kaz earlier and knew the shape of the land, I think the game would have been very different.

I, for one, was convinced that the barb city of Angle was in the center of the map and that Kaz had a ton of land south of it. I thought taking it would be stealing a march on everyone else and set us up well for the mid-game. I didn't realize that it was basically forming a stopper that basically made it inevitable for Kaz to attack us. Given that we had land for, I dunno, 10 more cities and were continuing to have barb problems... if we hadn't gone after that and just continued rex'ing - well, I dunno what would have happened, but the game would have been pretty different.
