Hi Folks!

Looking for advise when stepping up to immortal level from emperor. I heard that the difference is not that big as from monarch to emperor?
In any case; my standard tactics, which is probably not the best is to play Julius C, standard map, temperate cliamte, standard time, everything standard.

Mile stones on winning according to my last strategy:
Go for Judaism and build the pyramids and stonehenge. It is good to have organised religion.
Go for Iron and destroy the nearest civiliation as soon as possible. etc etc

But on immortal i have a feeling this is gonna be very hard.

Thankful for answers.

Stick with emperor with different leaders. Once you can win with at least 10 different leaders, then move up to immortal. :)

I've moved from monarch to emperor in ... less than 10 games? From emperor to immoral in... 50+ games :p

ok, on warlords, where the difference was sensibly higher, but nevertheless. And founding religion on immortal is quite iffy. Also, I'd say it's about time(I think it was about time at emperor already) to drop any pre set plans and start adapting to the map; but anyway, your plan lacks both any defence in case you don't find bronze and early commerce, so I wouldn't hold my breath. I don't play normal speed and barbarians should be easier there, but still... warrior vs archer is the wrong end of the stick. A non industrious leader both wonder spamming and taking over the world... dubious. Praets are good, but still you need a number of them supposing you'd survive barbarians with only warriors.

Alright, adapting to the map, yes. This is a tricky one. But i guess u are right.
I am a bit bound to a specific starting map with either stone or gold nearby. Somehow feel i cant win without them.
Also I play always Romans, bc I know how to play them quite well.
So you mean you won 50 emperor-games before you played immortal? or just played 50 games? Anyhow, I just played a "testgame" on immortal to see what difference it is. And yes there is quite a difference.
On the other hand I managed to build both Pyramids, Hanging gardens and found Judaism. Built prets and took two citys form Napoleon. However, I still am far below in score; so I played until 1000 AD. and thats it I think for now.

Is it easier to play on epic time than standard? Then one has more time to use prets...
I think I will go back to emperor for some time to get used to it. But I think I have played already 30+ games, almost won around 5 and really won 1. But I am still too tied to the map type. Should not be like that.
Thanks for answers!

You're probably not going to get stonehenge if you tech to organized religion. And I don't see why you're getting pyramids when on a lot of maps you can just conquer it. See if you can play an efficient no wonders game, no early attack game on emperor.

Hi there! What is HOF gauntlet? HOF=hall of fame? but what does it mean?

Yes it is a tricky part to go to organized religion/monoteism and at the same time build stonehenge and pyramids. But i will try to go by your advise and see what happens.

HOF = Hall of Fame, see the Hall of Fame subforum.

I've just won my first religious win in GMajor43, it's a large Hemispheres Epic Emperor game with Sitting Bull as the required leader. The gauntlets are fun and the discussion threads educational.

Gauntlet lists here:

So you mean you won 50 emperor-games before you played immortal? or just played 50 games? Anyhow, I just played a "testgame" on immortal to see what difference it is. And yes there is quite a difference.

I mean that I've won the last 3-4 monarch games and then moved to emperor and won the vast majority of the last ~15 emperor games and then moved to immortal.

I am a bit bound to a specific starting map with either stone or gold nearby. Somehow feel i cant win without them.

if you want to move up the levels no matter what, I'd try incas on marathon. Assuming you're somewhere around monarch with a random leader/random map, I'd say you could even win on deity(ok, with a very good map and with hand picked ai opponents) provided you read some walkthroughs which are on this forum. Because, assuming you want to "finish the game"(that's what I understand from your post), hc should be superior to jc in very favourable settings.
