The United Fanatikan Scholar's Voice

The United Phoenatican Scholar's Voice, a.k.a. the UPSV, has every right in my opinion to be reincarnated to find its home among the new people of Fanatika.

Now, it is even more important that we utilize our scientific abilities as our civilization is so defined by it. It is also important that we get a jump start on the things like literacy that caused problems in our nation for so many years.

Our Policy

As believers in the strength of science on the battlefield and in the international community, it is to engage in the endless pursuit of scientific achievement. Undoubtedly no nation can be successful should it not posses key technologies that will turn too expensive to buy. It is vital to the wellbeing and survival of our nation, and the Scholar's Voice seeks nothing less than that.

Our Goals

As a militaristic people, it is the ultimate goal that we remain self-sufficient in science. The United Fanatikan Scholar's Voice will strive to achieve such by it's members. upport any and all wars that are engaged so long as they do not disrupt scientific advance. As far as government choices, the United Fanatikan Scholar's voice should perfer a permanent and stable government in both wartime and peacetime with generous scientific funding and many libraries, universities, and research labs, as opposed to fragile governments that may collapse at the onslaught of war.

Low corruption would also sought to be achieved as it can have a disastrous effect on the amount of science put out by a given city.

Misc.

The United Fanatikan Scholar's Voice releases a weekly newsletter that concerns the major issues of the organization and its members. This is privately distributed by PM and your must be a member to recieve it.

Included in this newsletter is election coverage, national happenings related to our cause, and how the voice should seek to achieve the resolution of these happenings in a way that is beneficial to us.

The UFSV is currently accepting any and all membership applications.

Either way, I'll join the UFSV.

I'm very much in favour of getting our hands on as much knowledge as possible, but would prefer to gain most of this research via peace negotiations with rival civs we have crippled in war. The higher the difficulty the more I find doing my own research in the ancient/medieval eras to be a waste of money which would be better spent on a larger military.

If you do not feel this approach to be against the principles of the group then sign me up. Otherwise, don't. :)

Nicely put Eklektikos. I actually didn't sign up because of the same rationale. If this organization can pursue knowledge while weighing the strategic needs of the game, I'm in. If it is a pursuit of science at all costs, I don't think that will help.

But in general, me for science. learning good. oog.

It's not really against it, but it doesn't stand as a major goal. We are by no means pacifist, if a bit nationalist...in fact, I'm a member of the hawks society.

It is the pursuit of science at the highest level possible. Realistically we will have to cut science for things like military support and luxuries. However, we must put it ahead of any of the other goals we might have.

We're not pacifists, well... As a member of the Pacifists Organization, I must request that we take that stance!

*crickets chirping*

Oh, to heck with it...

I think that the UFSV should take a fairly neutral stance in terms of warfare, but support any war that doesn't interfere with science progress.

UFSV major discussion point:

What techs should we research first? Should we devote all of our early-game economic surplus to the research of science, or save it as gold so that we may trade with other nations more easily?

I would suggest that we begin with researching the pottery tech, followed by Alphabet, Writing, and Literature. If we do this, we can stay on top of the fast-moving AI civs in terms of technology, while designating our money into things like Libraries for when we must venture into the Middle Ages without it.

What is the opinion of the other scholars?

Greetings from the Department of Finance and Science in The Community. I am Scorpius A Perenius, Minister of Finance and Science in The Community. I come to you as a fellow scholar hoping to encourage the free exchange of ideas and discussion. I do not yet know all there is about your government and am not a citizien. Until I decide whether or not to aply for dual citizienship I ask that you make an excuse and send me your newsletter so that I might follow the preogress of Fanatika. This will make free exchange quicker and easier.

Though I strongly believe that the endless research done by the wisest of scholars lead to the development of a mighty nation - my pascifistic tendency does not allow me to ask for participation in this noble group.

However - I would like to express my support of your belief in science - the key to success is knowledge!

(The prospect of knowledge gained from rivals may seem tempting - but is it not in peaceful times that science progresses to new "heights"?)
