If you are a participant and have not already read the long version of the rules please do so now, before you start yourself off in this game. Depending on how well this game goes, another will be started afterwards, and possibly with rule adjustments if anything pops up during this game.

Remember that to vote, the easiest way to go about it is to quote the previous voter, remove the quote code, changes the names of the people to vote for, obviously change the message, and add your attacks and assists to the counts in the Standings box. It should be fairly simple if people stick to the same format for the vote posts.

Remember also, that the message section of your vote is the only opportunity you have to explain your actions. You don't have to, if that is your choice - it's up to you how diplomatic you try to be.

So you think this is a laugh, do you? Haha, everyone laugh at the funny clowns, is that what you think? Well, it's not. Last night one of my closest political allies, and a good friend to boot, was beaten to death with a jester's rod. Every day is a struggle to survive, for me and for my party (P.S. I also do children's parties). And I will not allow your baseless hatred of clowns to harm my people, who are not clowns. Attacking them is a cowardly way of showing your dislike of us. If you have a problem with us, I will gladly take you on in one-on-one combat or maybe a game of charades, I like charades.

And PureE will not suffer this insult, either. Not while I have water in my squirtin'-flower. If he is to be attacked, then it should be by a better class of enemy that your so-called 'Alliance'.

Now, on to other matters. Ramesses, I notice that you wear a lot of make-up, but it is not produced by Clownin' Around Industries (that's the state monopoly over here if you haven't been paying attention). Of course, you don't have to change your ways, but wouldn't it be convenient for you if you did, eh? Consider this a disapproving glower in your direction.

Man, I made another mistake: I forgot to add an assist to Peace of Mind. Can the next person please put that in for me? And I also made the names too big. Oh well.

Also, sciguy you messed up heaps of the formatting (lots of the bold is no longer bold). If possible, when you fix your post can you please just quote the previous poster again, and make your changes again. I want the posts to remain consistent because each vote needs to be quoted from the previous voter.

For some reason when I quoted the bold and the colors didn't quote with it so I just changed a couple of the things wrongly. I will try again this time.

Whoops, I accidently posted this in the other forum before I realised that other people have posted and now this is my third time trying to get this right. I decide to go with Peace of Mind the Ruthless for assisting me and vote for the clown leader to be attacked along with him. I also go with attacking Ethiopia to sway it into destruction. I think that we should continue to attack the Clown Empire because there realy is no way to save it from complete and utter destruction.

Ok it seems PreLynMax is not going to vote any time soon. This is exactly why I made a rule giving a time limit on inactivity. I gave him more than 48 hours because it is the first game and first round, and also the forums seem to have been down (at least for posting replies) for at least 6 hours about 10 hours ago or so.

So... the new round begins, and according to the rules PreLynMax is the only one eliminated!

No, no, after you. I insist.

Nobody wants to go first because the first person to play in a round is the most vulnerable. Or rather, the earlier you post, the more likely it is that you will make enemies.

lol. Ok but I really don't think it's as bad as you say. If anything, you can intentionally give the first voter some slack because they are doing the first vote. I would do that if I weren't the first voter but I vote first I can't give myself slack. Especially in the 2nd round onwards, targets should be more clear than before, and you would not be considered evil if you attack the civs who attacked you.

But anyway, I'm sort of breaking the rules here by discussing this... I'm saying because it's the first game it's a bit more educational :) If you can think of a nice way to make a rule change to help the first voter, please makea suggestion. The main drawback to being the first voter is it involves the most work in editing the previous vote. Probably easiest to quote the first vote from the previous round - that would require the least changes I think.

Attacking CCRunner because he seemed to join in on the fun in attacking me :mad: :lol:. Also he seemed to garner support for not attacking anyone - a little suspicious if you ask me! I'm still against clowing around so the Clowns cop my other attack. Since Icekommander is more likely to assist our organisation in buying the oil we have stolen from so called "demoracies", we will be assisting him in this phase of world wide conflict.

It is impossible for me to survive the round unless one or both of Charles and Roller don't turn up, so I will vote for them in the hope that they will get despondent and go for a cry instead of voting. Mwahaha!

Also, assist CCRunner because, well, gotta assist somebody. Now my army is helping Southwestern Tajikistan beat up my army, which seems like a suitably hilarious way for an empire governed by clowns to go down. This is in the rules. It is calculated as attacks-assists. However if there is a tie the player with the fewest assists (ie. most attacks) is eliminated. This means you are rewarded if you survived more attacks in the round than the person you're tieing with.

I feel a bit sad at the ferocity with which the world hammered the Clowns. I can already see the leaders sort of splitting the world up into factions. Ramesses and CCRunner seem to be friendly (each assisting each other in Round 2). Charles Li and Roller the Roller also seem to share a growing military partnership. Meanwhile on the anti-Clown front we have sciGuy, Icekommander and myself seeming to side together, with PureE somewhere in no man's land.
But this round since Roller decided to attack sciguy I will be attacking him. Icekommander, sciguy might be able to do with your assist this round. We should keep an eye on the CCRunner-Ramesses alliance.
Ramesses cops my other attack because I have to attack someone, and just sharing it around. :)

I think Pieceofmind is absolutely right. I am somewhere in no man's land, and I need to make a stand. So consider this: We're having some loners and a solid alliance between Piece, Sciguy and Icekommander. We need to end that NOW. I will therefore join in by defending Ramesses from the evil attackers. Since Roller is doing good in the "grab my land" charts, he gets a vote to. I have to think of my own ass, of course.

Clownstorm guerrillas strike back at the Ultimate Canadian Research Operation for attempting to justify the dogpile on their nation. UCRO is at fault for the genocide of the Clownish people, and we will not forget it, until the next round, when all the guerrillas will go away for some reason. Also Icekommander was strongly anti-Clownstorm and he's looking likely to be the next casualty... let's help things along a bit.

PureE, I think, was the only world leader that did not attack our once-glorious nation, so some of our guerrillas can do a funny jig for their troops to boost morale, I guess.

Since last round our generous offer of ceasefire to the Egyption Federation was blatantly disregarded by Ramesses, he will bear the full wrath of the determined people under the banner of the Anti Freedom Militia. When soilders offer handshakes to the enemy but recieve live hand grenades in return, they quickly lose their respect for their enemy, even in an organisation as brutal as the Anti Freedom Milita and under a ruler as cruel as PieceOfMind the Ruthless. So the war with the Egyptions will go on and we will not stop til they are brought to justice. We all know what sort of justice I'm talking about. :D

Roller the Roller's leadership in directing his artillery towards our common enemies was great appreciated last round and so we would not dare fire a shot their way. However he assisted the Chin Empire who attacked our great ally in the UCRO, which was not looked upon favourably by my oppressed peoples.

CCRunner, directing his military of the Imperial Empire of South Western Tajikistan, also attacked the UCRO and so will recieve our extra attacks for this phase.

As our ally is forever at risk from the opposing alliance, the leader of the UCRO - Sciguy - will receive our aid in weapons and munitions as these are far more valuable in desperate times than food and blankets.

No easy choices to make, the world is getting smaller and smaller.. but decisions must be made, therefore this round i direct full power to cannons pointed to Sciguy who declared vendetta on me and is spreading propaganda, causing quite a confusion among allies. :D While we do not have active fights with PieceOfMind going on, this does not extend to the alliance partner, who was balancing on the edge between be or not be for the long time already. And Ramesses, a target of collateral damage. This one is a lot more dangerous, but i strongly believe it is not a mortal would, given that not everyone in our ally will attack you. Hiho Charles Li, how is it going over there on your side of the globe. New roads are fine i hope. Thx for the Ming vase. I am kind of unsure what reasons could Ramesses possible have which would move him to break his alliance and join our cause.

What else would you suggest? I wanted to limit the amount of messages being thrown around so the thread didn't get drowned with people debating alliances etc. Also, it makes it a bit more of a guessing game as trying to form alliances can backfire if the person does not accept it.

Really though, please feel free to make suggestions for rule changes in the other thread (linked in the first post of this thread). If there is an optimal strategy already obvious to anyone then there must be some rule changes to help reduce its strength.

So far I haven't seen any obvious strategy, so I think the game's going well.

Whoops, sorry to keep you all waiting, I had a busy weekend =)
Anyhow, Piece of Mind gets a piece of my mind, or rather of the ghosts of my tanks. Roller can get some too, because his name is 6 by 3 by 6 letters.
Since Ramesses is taking a lot more heat than CCRunner, I'll opt to assist CCRunner and see if can make it another round.

Tajikistan has been most hostile towards my cave dwellers. With the mighty Egyptian Empire now in ruins a great ally for his cause has fallen and his military and cities lie exposed and vulnerable from the Egyptian border (Egypt borders Tajikistan right!? :)).

Our guerillas have had little trouble sneaking into Tajikistan now and at this stage of the great war many military targets of opportunity will be neutralised, bringing CCRunner's army nearer its end. Some civilian casualties are expected but the Anti Freedom Militia believes it an acceptable cost of war, as long as they are enemy civilians. ;)

Unfortunately my trigger happy guerillas are not satisfied with the spoils of the Tajikistan lands and they are out of control attacking our neutral neighbour Roller the Roller.

The people claimed they could not attack any man or woman in the Chin Empire because of the generous gifts they had received in an earlier conflict. The leader PieceOfMind requested the understanding of the leader Roller and would gladly accept an attack in return as we have already been assisted. However an attack on the UCRO and not the lands of Tajikistan would be met with increasing hostility, and avoiding further action could not be guaranteed in that case.

Further assistance is provided for the UCRO to ensure no last minute dogpile.

So it came down to the ultimate clashdown. The good guys vs .. well actually vs the good guys too. Time will show who is more good thought Roller, walking down the hallway to the communication room to relay following message to CCRunner:

CCRunner, we could have been great allies thats true, but if you are sorry, why are you attacking us. Need i point out who started raining death on your lands ( The PoM/Sg alliance), who negotiated the worldwide ceasefire, to finish you off( The PoM/Sg alliance ), who destroyed your potential ally PureE, wanting to join you ( The PoM/Sg alliance ) and which alliance did not attack you with full power two rounds ago, and gave you both a real chance to survive, which unfortunately you didn't use. You are played my friend! by dark powers and trickery of the evil PoM/Sg alliance! Think again before its too late and make the right choice. Additionally i must add that Charles Li was offered the chance to backastab, me, but refused. This is a complete opposite of being a backstabber. I know that the desciosion is entirly up to you and we did do some not nice things to you in the past, but I want you to consider this in your vote: We attacked you because you and Egypt were our sworn ememies from near the beggining. Did we, like Charles Li, invite you into our aliance just to backstab you? No, but Charlse Li did. Charles Li, speaking of anything related to the diplomatic situation in the game outside of your vote is not allowed. If you wanted to point out Sciguy was wrong you should do it in your message. Attaching "out of character" to your post is not good enough.

Out of character you should not be saying anything personal at all anyway.

A reminder to everyone that if 10 players start the game, the odds are heavily stacked against everyone and you have to expect to be eliminated at some point so it's best to not take it too seriously/personally. The winner will probably need a huge chunk of luck in his favour.

I am surprised at the way Roller the Roller the great and previously honorable leader has decided to now describe our alliance as evil. With the option of attacking only 1 nation this round, he chose to attack the Anti Freedom Militia as well as his normal enemy in the UCRO. Since this attack was unprovoked an unexplained, an attack will be cast back with equal (if not greater) magnitude. Apart from the terrible terrible clowns we have only attacked nations when provoked and describing our people as evil as a justification for war is dangerously cunning.

I refuse to attack the Chin Empire after they have never attacked us and in the past have only assisted us. I trust they will not attack our great nation at the first opportunity that arises. I wonder if the Chin Empire will notice the cunning of Roller the Roller.

I will give my explicit assistance to SgiGuy for his continued loyalty and for respecting our great cause!

Roller, Charles Li is still to vote, so it would be nice if you didn't yet make assumptions about how the round will end. There is not a double kill so far.

There is a small problem here, and it may be what Roller was alluding to. At the moment, since by the rules it is technically allowed for Charles Li to submit 0 attacks and 0 assists, he can win the game by casting a completely empty vote, letting the 3 others be eliminated by each other.

If he wishes to not end the game here, he will perhaps accept the rule change that when there are four players alive, a minimum of 1 attack must be used.

In other words, you must submit 1 or 2 attacks and 0 or 1 assists. This would mean he still has the option of killing 1 or 2 players, but he would not have the option to win right now. Charles do you consider this a fair change to the rules?

An alternative to having a rule change at this point in the game, is for me to change my vote by attacking Charles Li as well, so we would not arrive at this strange situation (I didn't anticipate at the time of my vote). I would be happy to do that as well if other people agree.

Yes well, the later rounds it seems are very vulnerable to multiple cases of stalls and total eliminations. Its just too easy to kill multiple people. Next round will be worse.

I could make the rule that you must attack more people than you assist. So you can do 2 attacks 1 assist or 1 attack and 0 assists. That would prevent game stalls at least.

I'm having trouble thinking what a good rule here would be.

A additional rule should... make ties less possible. For example, in case of such a tie, by additionally calculating assists from the whole game. Easy to calculate due to minor number of survivors and superior formatting thanks to some people. Would make long term diplomacy better too, i guess.

So far we have over 6 rounds.

this could be a benefit to often dogpiled people too, kind of a reward, and encourage more aggressive play, usually leading to dogpiling, which leads to this reward, even if its minor.

Rather than counting up the assists, I'd prefer to count up the attacks against the player, just as we do for a tie in the final round.

When two players tie the one who has been attacked most (ignoring assists) will survive. Having the player with the most attacks get the advanatage is meant to reflect that they have been more resilient in warfare. If still tieing, perhaps give the benefit to the one with most assists. Then finally if still tieing just eliminate the lot (this would be very very unlikely I guess).

So the tally so far:

Tbh i dont think it matters much, the main issue is to prevent a draw. The outcome is still decided by the voter, and since it is not anymore possible(or highly improbable) to kill both, if a voter would want to specifically kick out somebody, he will simply not attack another. So it is not important how high the Atk rating is, but the not-equality to other atk values. Or something like that.

What if we just went back to last round? Less math involved that way. And if that was tied too, the round before that. Whoever has less points (attacks-assists) loses.

With the Chin Empire standing idly by as our militia crumbled apart from the inside-out, a document was leaked revealing the leader Charles Li had planned for their demise all along. As such, our shattered guerillas and also street-walking protesters have given full support to their most respected enemy in Roller the Roller. Roller sustained far more attacks and only attacked our nation when provoked, generally speaking :D.

It's interesting that you decided to let us both perish, Charles Li, as did you not expect that to cause me to attack you with my last vote? However SciGuy votes it will be Roller the Roller who rolls forth victorious from this devastating conflict.

I feel discussion of the gameplay should not really be prohibited now as the game is more or less over. Hence this post.

There was also the option of attacking 1 and assisting 1, Charles Li - this would have meant only 1 would be eliminated. If you attacked Sciguy for example, and assisted Roller, then next round I'd probably have attacked Roller alone and Sciguy would probably have attacked you and/or Roller resulting in Roller's defeat. Then in the last round it'd have been up to roller and he probably would have chosen you to win.

EDIT By the way technically you and Roller are both meant to vote still but there's not much point I guess. We still need Sciguy's vote before the final outcome is presented.

It is yet unclear which party will get the majority in the senate. however Rollers primary concern right now is to make sure the city will have a nice large monument dedicated to CCRunner, whose effort made it possible to ensl.. to free Earth.

Well I don't know what to do now. I think Roller wins.

Should we prepare another game and get more to join? If any of you are still interested, I'd imagine roughly 15 players would be a nice number to start with, and we could change the rule to one round per 5 days.

I was also thinking of making it even more like the game RISK by introducing a map into the game. I would then call the game Diplomination. :) The map would wrap in both directions to make it fair for players near the edge. Now when civs get destroyed, the territories the civ owned would be distributed among the civs who attacked the victim. One could only attack civs who share a border. There's a few more rules I have in mind but what do people think?

Just wrapping up the game. Congrats Roller:, you have won all of the land in contorl of Canada and all of our people shall swear their loaylty to you.
