Self nominations encouraged.

If you would like one of the Management positions, post in this thread. Make sure that you list the position that you wish to run for. This thread is only for the 4 management positions. All other RPG positions are assistants and will be appointed by the appropriate manager.

Elections will start tomorrow (Aug 29)!

The positions are:

Game Manager: The Game Manager is responsible for the overall flow of the RPG game. He must be able to take over the duties of any other manager at times of need (manager absent or manager is personally involved in a transaction).

Bank Manager: Responsible for running the Bank, recording transactions, tracking loans and loan repayment, etc. Must understand the loan system, overdraft system and automatic loan system. Skill in mathematics is important.

Item Manager: Responsible for keeping official track of what items each player has. Excellent record keeping skills are a must for this position.

Price Manager: Responsible for keeping the official price lists and checking that private businesses are figuring costs correctly when selling an item that is on the official list. Responsible for Official stores. Must also be familiar with the business startup costs as this position figures those for prospective business owners. Must have a decent grasp of relative values of items.

Thank you, AJ but I will not be accepting any nominations. I'm going to have a stroke just getting this thing started. I'll need whatever rest I can find once the game starts. ;)

A point here which needs clarification:
As the RPG Managers become leaders (At least financially), they will not be able to hold other leader positions... Right or wrong?

Shaitan
Aug 28, 2002, 09:06 AM
Wrong. The RPG is totally outside of the normal COC and the RPG managers are not leaders in the Demo game.

Thanks, dis, but I am declining all nominations. I would be stretched too far as I am already a mod, active citizen and associate at A, P & N.

PROPOSAL:
these elections may end in chaos.
i have 3 proposals as alternatives:

1) only the main rpg manager is elected termly
he appoints his "submanagers". they only run thru acceptance polls. they can then found offices at will like all other leaders can.
payments: 4gpt for main manager, 3gpt for submanager, 2gpt for office head, 1gpt for office helper

2) main manager appointed
he main manager is appointed by the president. he runs thru an acceptance poll. he then appoints his submanagers as office heads, and they hire helpers.
payments: main manager 3gpt. office heads=submanagers=2gpt, helpers=1gpt

3) nobody gets elected or runs thru acceptance polls
this would limit all rpg-positions to a max pay of 2gpt.
payments: managers (main+sub)=2gpt, helpers=1gpt

i go with number 3 at the moment this is only adding confusion
at a later date with it all set up we can go to number 2 but this is only adding confusion

i think we need to hold off election thigns until we decide which off disis choices we are gonna use

i would prefer #2, as this would honour the main leader and will only clutter a single acceptance poll into the forums without interfering with any existing guidelines (i know the rpg is not in the rules, but we should treat it as if it was! the rules ensure democracy, and we can not live without this in here without risking to loose participants or having massive confrontation with the citizens)

it would also be possible to do this fast and without risking to have to move people from their existing positions.

The nominations and elections will continue. This discussion would have been appropriate when I was asking for feedback when designing the rules. It is not appropriate at this late date.

I decline the nomination for game manager, but thanks. I have already made commitments to other potential responsibilities in the game and don't want to be unrealistic about what I can take on.

this is probably a bit late to be asking but what does an item keeper actually do i dont totall understand it do i just have a list of names and everything they have?

Shaitan
Aug 29, 2002, 01:14 PM
Yup. The Item Manager needs to check the posted transactions as they occur and update everybody's official inventories.

BCLG100
Aug 29, 2002, 02:49 PM
so in the end they will haver 1 long list or do some stuff wear out like food clothes and the such like

That's mostly going to be up to the first Item Manager. How detailed do they want to keep records? Add a date stamp to each item and depreciate it? Add a Term number to each record? Have a progressive "failure chance" the older an item gets? Go with the simple approach and assume an item is good forever? These are all questions that will need to be addressed by the Item Manager.

I'm closing this thread now as the nomination phase is over. Feel free to post more questions/discussion to the rule discussion thread.

Elections have been opened in the main forum for Game Manager and Price Manager. SAAM and BCLG100 are the confirmed winners in their uncontested contests for Bank Manager and Item Manager, respectively.
