Hi,
I have the Vanilla version of Civ4 and downloaded the 4.1 GEM. That works fine, thanks for the (incredible) effort! I am not sure whether you realise how much fun you have generated for all players of GEM. :)
But I wonder this: Why do I only have the standard civs? (Romans, Germans, Chinese etc.) Why don't I have the smaller and new ones that are a part of GEM? Am I doing something wrong?
I also only have one map, is that how it is supposed to be?
(By the way, the vanilla 4.1 does not seem to work with the 1.52 patch.)

Hi,
There is only one map- a giant one of the earth (GEM).
Genghis Kai has been constantly updating the scenario, but for a while now has been focusing on the Beyond the Sword version- he is now up to 6.1.
I agree that the mod is fantastic and has certainly provided me with days and days of fun when i would otherwise have moved on from civ. I would recommend picking up a copy of BTS so you can then download the latest version of GEM (6.1), which also includes the 1860 scenario.
A full list of scenarios included with 6.1 is:
Ancient resource start only
Modern resource start only
200bc
1500ad
1860
1940
There are also scenarios by a couple of other modders as you look around the forums and these are great and worth checking out too, although i believe that these are yet to be updated to v6.1.
Each scenario varies in the amount of civs, but in most (and all of Kai's) there are more than 30 civs (around 35 i think). Depending on the historical perspective the civ list differs e.g. 200bc contains the Gauls, whilst 1860 has the South African Boers for instance. There are full civ lists on each of the scenario threads if you want to see for yourself.
