View Full Version : RPG - Economy/Salary base
Shaitan Aug 29, 2002, 05:22 PM Our economy will follow the money in the system. This comes only from salaries. If we base salaries on a per chat basis the amount of money coming into the economy will be very stable and predictable. If we base it on a per game turn basis the economy will fluctuate up when there are more turns/chat and down when there are less turns/chat.
Note that this decision does not affect the relative salaries in any way. Prices will still need to be set based on how much money is coming into the economy regarless of which system is used.
If this poll results in a majority of "per game turn" responses, the RPG rules will be modified to accomodate. The relative costs for opening businesses and taking loans will remain unchanged.
EDIT: This topic was discussed in this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30868). This is a 48 hour poll.
BCLG100 Aug 29, 2002, 05:31 PM Go Fixed
Shaitan Aug 29, 2002, 05:35 PM It's you and me against the world, BCLG100. But right now we've got 100% of the vote!
Danke Aug 29, 2002, 07:10 PM No, I'm with you both as well, I think it will be more stable.
BCLG100 Aug 30, 2002, 04:53 AM ok so its me shaitan and danke against the world then
Go Fixed
Shaitan Aug 30, 2002, 05:43 AM Aparently the world isn't up to taking us on. It's 3-1 in our favor right now. :)
Cyc Aug 30, 2002, 01:04 PM I voted fixed also. The only real advantage I see in the variable option is purchasing items mid-turn chat (which probably isn't allowed). The variable option may also influence the DP, as far as the length of any turn chat. With the fixed option, I don't see any real problems.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Aug 30, 2002, 03:45 PM mid tc purchasing is allowed, but it will not be finalized until the following tc. im voting fixed
BCLG100 Aug 30, 2002, 04:29 PM so there are 5 people who voted wavriable but are too scared to take us on
Almightyjosh Aug 30, 2002, 05:23 PM The main benefit of variable is that in every proposal so far, variable would have paid out higher!!
BCLG100 Aug 30, 2002, 05:31 PM fixed we have a competitor to our hallowed fixed get him ;)
Shaitan Aug 31, 2002, 04:25 AM Higher payout doesn't matter. This is the economic base. Everything else follows this. If we pay out more, prices will be higher. If we pay out less, prices will be correspondingly lower.
donsig Aug 31, 2002, 06:10 AM Hmmm... yet another thing based on the turn chat. Wonderful. :(
Shaitan Aug 31, 2002, 06:12 AM @donsig - If we do get optional turn chats, pay would be based on the game turn schedule.
Shaitan Aug 31, 2002, 12:28 PM Tied at 7-7 with 5 hours to go. This is the season for close polls!
disorganizer Aug 31, 2002, 02:05 PM tied.... its as excting as the pres-election!
Anyways: just ot remind everyone that we will have to adopt and check the prices no matter which method we choose...
Shaitan Aug 31, 2002, 04:18 PM I hour left. Still tied!
Shaitan Aug 31, 2002, 06:11 PM Fixed wins. A nail biter right to the finish!!
Stuck_as_a_Mac Aug 31, 2002, 07:39 PM fixed wins and makes it easier for everyone!
donsig Sep 01, 2002, 06:34 AM Dare I ask about the validity and bindingness of this poll?
Shaitan Sep 01, 2002, 07:18 AM Nah. No point, really. The official ruleset will be posted tomorrow morning (running out the door right now). Since all polls had substandard support they're classified as info polls at best. The ruleset will be a compromise that should make everybody happy except the bean counters.
