I hear so much crap about "oh make sure your computer is protected" and "get anti spywear" and so on. The virusus and trojans and whatever could slow down your computer, BUT THEY DONT POP UP IN YOUR FACE EVERY 10 MINUETS ASKING FOR YOU TO SCAN YOUR COMPUTER FOR VIRUSES. All of the anti virus softwear I have ever used has been nothing but trouble. It will tell you you have 200 viruses on one run, and 18925 on the next, and 15 on the one after that.

I dont want to point fingers, but sometimes you have to point the finger. The worst antivirus software i have ever had was called windows xp antivirus or something. I could not even remove it from my computer; i had to go to the website and remove it from there. All the software did was tell me that my computer was dangerously infected with some random number of viruses, then tell me that i had to pay $100 a month or something to remove them. That is totall bs im not paying a red cent for virus protection, I mean common, Icould buy a decent video card or something for that much.

And if you buy an antivirus cd from some store, that is some bull too because after installing the CD it tells you that you have a 30 day free trial and you gotta pay for the software AGAIN. That is ballony, why in the world someone want to pay for a product twice.

Hey if you ask me, i would rather have the viruses then the antivirus software. The viruses are free, and they wont interrupt you every 10 minuets asking you if you want to scan your computer from viruses, then after you press cancel, just search your computer anyway and tell you have 100 million trillion trojans or whatever.

This is more or less a vent, so keep that in mind before you start to critizise me.

Yeah, I hate Norton, I had to call some place in India to help me uninstall it since it would not allow me to even load cnn.com.

I use the free AVG, I highly recommend it.

Did you even read what he said(or the wiki for that matter)? 'XP Antivirus' is NOT an Anti-Spyware program, it IS a spyware program. As in, your so called antivirus is a virus itself. Get rid of it!

XP Antivirus is a rogueware. It's not real. Try AVG or Avast.

There used to be a tool called RogueRemover to remove it but it's discontinued. You can probably find it if you google a bit but I can't be arsed right now, especially if someone's gonna generalize all antiviruses to the same thing.

AVG or Avast wouldn't help. HijackThis is good if you know what your doing. I might just backup files, format, and reinstall.

That would be because it IS spyware in its own. Better yet, you actually decided to click on it without doing a little googling about such strange behaviour.

Sure sure, I too prefer to have my keystrokes keylogged, my passwords stolen, my computer made a part of a massive spam botnet that really hurts people, and best of all, I just SO absolutely love those zillions of popups you get with some spy- and adware.
