View Full Version : Term 1 Election Poll - Chief Justice Cyc Feb 25, 2009, 10:40 AM Please vote for the candidate of your choice as Chief Justice. Black_Hole Feb 26, 2009, 07:22 PM Are there any more questions that might persuade the fence sitters? Cyc Feb 26, 2009, 10:54 PM Man, this is such a difficult choice. Cyc Feb 26, 2009, 11:05 PM Ok, lets start off with the subject Black_hole discussed in the Election Office. How does each candidate feel about the stipulation in our laws concerning public polls being used for elections? Black_Hole Feb 26, 2009, 11:13 PM Well first off it doesn't matter what the chief justice thinks about this because it codified in the constitution and neither of us will legislate from the bench. Well I'll repeat myself a little. I believe they should be public because I think of all of us citizens as representatives since we are members of a "legislature". We are voting for the leaders of our country. I also think it helps prevent Double Login votes which was problematic several demogames ago. Second it makes people accountable for their vote so everyone knows the opinions of everyone else. Cyc Feb 27, 2009, 01:54 AM Ok, both of you try this one. It looks like we will be playing this Demogame under the Game Structure of the Sibling/MortalEnemy concept. When this is confirmed, can we just add it to the Constitution (Article C, I believe) plus put in appropriate Sections in the CoL about the concept, or will we have to do a Constitutional Amendment? Furiey Feb 27, 2009, 02:07 AM Another related question: Do you believe that the Sibling/Mortal Enemy concept should be in the Constitution at all? Lord Civius Feb 27, 2009, 09:32 AM Ok, lets start off with the subject Black_hole discussed in the Election Office. How does each candidate feel about the stipulation in our laws concerning public polls being used for elections? Section H.1 Elections The regular election cycle starts at the posting of the nomination threads, and concludes when the last poll, including runoff polls, closes. Nomination threads will be posted 8 days before the end of the current term. Election polls will be posted 4 days later, and will list all accepted candidates for each election. Election polls will be marked public, and last for 3 days. I would look no further then CoL-H.1 which mandates all election polls to be marked public. My feelings on this or any issue mean nothing and will not interfere in any official business of my court. Ok, both of you try this one. Another related question: Do you believe that the Sibling/Mortal Enemy concept should be in the Constitution at all? Section C of the constitution has no ammendments and one will need to be added when the assambly is ready to add Game Structure to the Constitution. It is up to the Assembly to choose whether or not to adopt an ammendment concerning the Sibling/Mortal Enemy concept at that time. I see nothing unconstitutional about it nor can I find anything within our Constitution that mandates it. I hope this opinion answers both of your questions, once again it will not be the policy of my court to set policy or create law. Black_Hole Feb 27, 2009, 12:28 PM Ok, both of you try this one. When this is confirmed, can we just add it to the Constitution (Article C, I believe) plus put in appropriate Sections in the CoL about the concept, or will we have to do a Constitutional Amendment? It must be done via constitutional amendment if that is what is decided because we have already started "following" this constitution with respect to elections so we can't change the constitution without following rest of the constitution which means an amendment. Another related question: Do you believe that the Sibling/Mortal Enemy concept should be in the Constitution at all? I personally don't think it should be in the constitution, the Code of Laws would be a better place in my opinion. This way it is easier to change if we so desire. Cyc Feb 27, 2009, 02:29 PM Good question Furiey. Thanks for the answers you two. Ok, this is like splitting hairs. Because of today's answers, I'm going to vote for Black_Hole. Sorry LC, he just answered a fraction better, and I need to vote. Please run again. Lord Civius Feb 28, 2009, 10:20 AM Good question Furiey. Thanks for the answers you two. Ok, this is like splitting hairs. Because of today's answers, I'm going to vote for Black_Hole. Sorry LC, he just answered a fraction better, and I need to vote. Please run again. As you can see I haven't even been able to put in the time to post a platform. BH has run a great campaign and deserves the position. I formally concede the Chief Justice election. Congratulations BlackHole. Furiey Feb 28, 2009, 02:31 PM Oh well, I even ask a question then get the dates wrong and don't remember to vote in time... Congratulations BlackHole. Cyc Feb 28, 2009, 04:52 PM Black_Hole is officially the Chief Justice for Term 1. Black_Hole Mar 01, 2009, 02:23 AM Thank you all for the congratulations and thank you Lord Civius for a well fought campaign. |
