Who are we? Right now, we are the wandering Nomads. But we need something better than this. We have come together as a people, a tribe, a community. We need to identify ourselves as such. When new and distant people come to join us, who will we tell them we are?

Please post below with your suggestions. All sugested names will be condiered.

Validus? Means "strong" in Latin...
The Germans could be the Amicus because that means "friend" and the English could be the Hostis because that means "enemy of the state."

What is democracy in latin? How about Validus (Democratis?) for us and the Germans could be something like "friend and brother", or "good friend".

They didn't have a word for democracy, but Republic is Res Publica. Friend and brother is Amicus Frater

how about Dumnonia? Or Dal Raida?

Dumnonia might be a little too close to our Mortal Enemy the English. King Arthur and all that...

"The word `Dalriada' therefore signifies 'the territory of the descendants of Cairbre Riada". This was a quote from an expert on the subject. This name may be the one. Cairbre Riada was one of the original Celts. He had three sons. There are stories about these sons and their journeys. Might one of these sons be us, one be the Germans, and one be the English? Are you seeing a workable RPG storyline/Tribe History here?

We could call the germans "amicus imperius" (friend of the empire? {i think]).
Can't really think of a name for us though... DRC? (democratic republic of the celts?) USSC (united soviet states of... celtia?)

the romans called cornwall as 'Cornovii', the isle of man as 'Monapia', and ireland as 'Hibernia' << sounds good :)

'Arevaci' were celts in iberia (celtiberians) with 'Numantia' as their chief city, the 'Vaccaei' were their allies (i like this one! lol) search in wiki

or my brother made this up for his story: Desideria

or we could ditch latin names and come up with a totally random name, such as Cyphur, Phalaneuf, Thosiphur or Csan. Those are just totally random names for my city names that I pick

Lots of good info can be found at Celts.

How about Galatia? That fits with the Gallic Warrior.

I was thinking of the Welsh kingdom of Dumnonia that fought for its survival against the English, but I guess since they ultimately lost, that might not be the best name. (You are right about the King Arthur line of thought, I recently finished reading the Warlord Chronicles.)

I wish I had thought of that, I was just thinking of the immensely successful nation of Irish raiders back in the dark ages that eventually conquered the Picts, as well as harried the Britons and Saxons well into the middle ages. I was trying to keep with the Celtic theme.

I guess a city name won't work, so
Cypheria
Phalanieu
Thosiphuris
Csania

montizzle, I do like the idea of the Irish raiders. In fact, Cairbre Riada, the man I mentioned, married a Pict princess (who bore him the three sons). That's why I think this would make fantastic role playing. Maybe no one else would agree to the three brothers plot, but I like it. It has potential depth.
