Please post suggestions and ideas for naming our fist city. Then we'll poll it.

Maybe Nyrex - it appears in Greek texts as a Celtic settlement, or what about Ancyra or Tavia if we want to go Galatian?

I have two suggestions.

1. Imbolc - meaning the Spring Feastival

2. The Royal City of Tara - the center of the world, awaiting the return of the Celtic Goddess Gabhra’ and this was the name of the valley inside the Royal City. Gabhra means White Mare and this was the name for the Goddess of the Iron Age Celts in Ireland.

I prefer the Royal City of Tara

I like Nyrex or Imbolc for the first city. Breyr sounds good for a later city.

Breyr takes my pick for first city. Not that Imbolc isn't good, i just like breyr better :)

Sorry, but Nyrex sounds too much like Nirex, the Nuclear Industry Radioactive Waste Executive as it was called in the UK (now called Nuclear Decommissioning Authority). We have a monument in Bedfordshire as a result of a long fight to stop them using a totally unsuitable site as a long term nuclear waste storage site.

I like the Royal City of Tara (or just Tara) or Breyr.

 I can't argue w/ that reasoning. The Royal City of Tara is growing on me, but sounds more like the heart of an imperial empire & maybe just a wee bit too grand for the first settlement of a band of nomads. I'm leaning towards Imbolc or maybe Tavium.

We're wondering Nomads who are just settling down at the dawn of civilization. What do we have to compare against for our standard on man-made Grandeur? Cousin Og's fancy new Club?

Hey, now. Cousin Og has a really nice club. Aargh! :)

Can't help but ike the Royal City of Tara. Bessed with a city at the center of the world, they put a beautiful name on her. And a gorgeous valley it was.

I like Tara, but I'd rather it was just Tara, or the Hill of Tara, or Seat of Tara. They seem a little more, I don't know, iron age to me.

We could start with just Tara then add more as our nation develops.

Tara was the name of the o'Hara estate in Gone with the wind, so we can think of Rhett and Scarlett as honorary citizens.....

Coolness. I did not know that. And frankly, I DO give a damn.

Do we have consensus for Tara then? Remember we can use some of the other suggestions for later cities.
