I would like to upgrade my business, Die Fanatischen Zeiten (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31135) from a private to a public company. I sell a journal and the single issue price is 30 gold.

It is a service company and the start-up cost Your original startup cost was 500g (services) x1 (personal business) x 1 (average price <100g), or 500g. The cost to upgrade to a public company is 500g x 4 (public company) x 1, or 2000g minus the original start-up of 500 gold. Therefore the cost to go public is 1,500g.

Upon approval by the price manager and my payment of 1500 gold I will issues 50 shares in the company. Since I am paying the startup cost all the shares will be mine. My intention is to sell some of the shares through the stock exchange.

EDIT: I also request that BCLG100 review this for approval so I can go public before the Spending Spree!

We figure what an original startup for the combined company (partnership) would have been 3000g. You need to pay 3000g minus the amount of the original companies(2500g in this example). So, in our little case study here the two companies could form a joint partnership for 500g.

Amt you pay = Startup cost for partnership - (startup for private business 1 + startup for private business 2)

Regarding free first businesses: Even though you didn't actually pay startup expenses you still get credit as if you did when you are figuring the cost to upgrade or alter your business.

Strider, Ehcatl and VHS - The numbers for the partnership are wrong. Ehcatl's startup was 2000g. Strider's startup would have been 2000g as well. The partnership startup works out to be 4000g so there is no additional money due.

VHS - The cost of upgrade is:

C = N - (O1 + O2)

Where C is the cost of the upgrade, N is the new business startup cost and O1, O2 are the startup cost for old businesses 1 and 2 (and 3, 4, 5 etc if there are more).

These were first businesses so there was no actual money paid but that doesn't matter because they get credit as if they did pay the startup funds. Both businesses had startup costs of 2000g. (That's a total of 4000g "credit".) The new combined business just happens to have generated a 4000g startup cost. So...

C = 4000 - (2000 + 2000)
C = 4000 - 4000
C = 0

Cost of the upgrade is 0 gold.

Startup costs:
Owner: donsig and Octavian X
Business name: The Fanatikan Lottery Co.
Type: Service
Size factor: Private business (x2)
Expense factor: x1 (avg price <100g)
Partnership: x2
Estimated startup price: 2000
Description: Your chance to win BIG!

Price List:
1 ticket - 10g

Here's how it'll work:
Every participant purchases any number of tickets they want. A random number will be chosen, and if anyone has the number, they win the money.

Every time someone wins, the jackpot is set at 500g. However, if no one wins, the prize will go up, until someone does.

To encourage participation, a super jackpot may be set up, with a much larger beginnning sum of money.

Two people may pick the same number: however, if that number wins, the prize will be split.

For each ticket purchased, money will be divided as follows:
10g/ticket
-2g bank
-5g Prize fund
-2g to donsig's account
-1g to Octavian's account

Please note that all startup fees are to be withdrawn from donsig's account

Also, donsig holds 2/3 thirds of the company, and I hold the other third

Octavian X

I have been discussing this with donsig via pm.

So, tickets are 10g. 2g goes to taxes, 5g goes to the prize fund, 1.5g for you and 1.5 gold for me. If no one wins the prize it rolls over to the next drawing. Multiple winners split the prize fund evenly. Drawings at the rate of one per chat (preferably between chats). you and I can't buy tickets. Random # generator picks the winning # between 0 and 999 inclusive. It is permissible for more than one person to have the same #. I will pay the start- up costs, you run the business and we split profits 50/50. I think that covers our agreement, right?

Anyway, the following businesses are approved:

The Fanatikan Lottery Co. (a partnership between Octavian X and donsig)

Bäckerei des Plexus (first private comany of Plexus)

Futuristic Weapons Shop (first private company by Grandmaster)

The purchase of Animals R Us by Shaitan for 2000g is approved.

Notes: The first is a service company. The last 3 could conceivably be either manufacturers or resellers. Under our current set-up it is important to know since the start-up cost is different and the tax rate is also different.

This whole Shaicorp ,no, the whole RPG goes against every principle I have as a human being. Ah well, here is the updated post starting up the Fanatikan Lottery Co.

OK here goes - I'd like to use my one free startup to establish the Primus Gems and Jewelery Shoppe. As citizen of the Community, I can - on a limited scale - get my hands on gems from the rich depostits to the north-east of our capitol. Gems make excellent decoratives for all kinds of items, as well fabulously decadent paperweights. As gold can be found near our second city Nibbon, I can craft the two into beautiful jewelerry or other ornaments.

Owner: Maniacalmonkey

Business name: Primus Gems and Jewelery Shoppe

Business Type: Manufacturing and Resale

Size factor: Private

Expense factor: 148.75

Price list:

- Simple cut Primus Gem, 1.0 Ct. - 85 G.

- Elaborate cut Primus Gem, 1.0 Ct. - 120 G.

- Simple cut Primus Gem, 1.5 Ct. - 150 G.

- Elaborate cut Primus Gem, 1.5 Ct. - 180 G.

- Simple cut Primus Gem, 2.0 Ct. - 220 G.

- Elaborate cut Primus Gem, 2.0 Ct. - 260 G.

- Fabulously decadent paperweight, 3.5 Ct. - 500 G. (due to rarity and transport difficulties - hired mercenary escort to be paid by customer).

"Simple Cut" gems come in square, recangle, oval and round shapes. "Elaborate Cut" comes in heart, marquise, tear-drop, and pear. Purchased, cut gems can be fitted into most items at negotiable cost.

Gems can be fitted into:

- Gold neclace 80 G.

- Gold bracelet 50 G.

- Gold pendant 65 G.

- Gold Pin 45 G.

- Gold Ring 30 G.

All these gold items are simple versions. Elaborate, custom versions will be negotiated per item ordered, as will special gold-and-gem items like sword grips, small chest- or shoulder plates, cuff links, etc.

The general rule is you can do evolutionary changes but not revolutionary ones. That is, a weapon shop could add long bows to their stock but couldn't add furniture as it doesn't fit with the business. You've also got to be careful not to go over the average price range your business had when it was set up. You are certainly allowed to do so buy you may need to pay additional setup fees.

That said, the Price Manager will have to let you know about your specific request. ;)

SAaM: I'm not sure that businesses get a free start-up of a business. Also, I think a business must be a corporation before it can own part or all of another business. Finally, the bank was set up to process loans and handle accoounts, not rent out retail and office space. I can't approve this.

Strider: One way I can see if for you to take the S&E public. By doing so you could alter your charter at the same time. (Plus sell shares. :) )

Great Iguanaman: I looked through your thread and your partnership with the boat people isn't meant to be a true partnership like Acroama. It is an agreement more like that between the Rebel Pub / SAaM's Eatery and Obsessed Nuker's Inn. In that sense you don't really need the price manager's approval. I've haven't found the start-up for the boat selling business though. looks like they were trying to set up a public company or formal partnership but they never actually started the business?

Couple big problems here. The Bank isn't a player so doesn't get a free business.

The Bank isn't a corporation so can't own another business.

Having an NPC organization that you are running "give" you 30 free shares is pretty unfair.

SaaM: another set of problems:
* we didnt even event construction, so how can we build 30 stories high buildings?
* who built that building? the bank would have to pay for building it, like every other player or business. acroma homes would be happy to provide you with this building for a reasonable price, i think. but you wont get it for free.

Now to defend my tower:
1) 30 shares is estimated. I used that as a figure, and I am regreting it.
2) Why cant the bank (the biggest NPC of them all) own something? RL banks own land, businesses, and other things. So why cant the BOF own a tower?
3) We would pay for it if we cant get it for free. We earn over 300g/tc in loan income (and when the VHS loan is payed, thats 1600g *4000g if you count the total debt). We could/will pay for this tower.
Now let round two of arguments begin!

1. Yeah, definitely drop stuff like that.
2. Because they are an NPC and because they are not a corporation so cannot start and own another business. Take them to corporation status with their earnings and you'll get less resistance.
3. As far as I know you have not tracked a single bit of loan income. In any case your estimate is about a magnitude of 10 higher than what is possible.

okay, regarding profits: in the spreadsheet, there is one entitled BANK. This account has over 300g, and it earns aproximatly this ammount every turn (the exact ammount differs turn to turn, new loans taken out, old ones repaid). This is the bank profits.
Also- how do I get to corparate status? I have stock, it has a thread and is used (daily-ish)

But you don't have to sell it to make it public. Shaitan has done almost the same thing with Shaicorp and I did it with DFZ. When you go public you (or you and your partner) get all the shares. You don't have to sell them you can just keep them. But this would allow you to expand your business to hire out the things you want to.

okay, regarding profits: in the spreadsheet, there is one entitled BANK. This account has over 300g, and it earns aproximatly this ammount every turn (the exact ammount differs turn to turn, new loans taken out, old ones repaid). This is the bank profits.
Also- how do I get to corparate status? I have stock, it has a thread and is used (daily-ish)
It can't possibly make anywhere near that amount per turn. There are not that many loans. In addition, the loans were not set up for interperiod dispersion. You can't take profit until the original principle has been paid off.

shaitan- my figures for income are based on the following:
1- Take the g/tc pay back of all loans.
2- Add them together. (Note- there are at least 6 people with loans and more apply daily)
3- If it is so that I can only collect profit when the loans are payed back, then we make around 1000g whenever a loan is repayed.

Only the interest on the loan is profit for the bank, not the entire loan itself. The principle of the loan is the money that you gave them in the first place. You're just getting it back.

As no loans were set up for increments you cannot take the interest income until the last payments of the loan, when the entire principle has been repaid. We can restructure the new loans to allow for increments so the bank gets income from interest each turn if you'd like, but we'll have to renegotiate the fee for running the loan office then. ;)

Shaitan- Fee? Theres a fee? I thought this was one of your gratis moves....
Anyway, so basicly the bank dosent make any money until the loans are repaid in full. Give me until the S&E auctions are over, then ill pay for this. VHS left a nice paycheck to the bank when he *cough* retired. THIS (after S&E gets its share) is bank profit. So, in conclusion, Bank no money from loans until they are repaid, this could change and the tower will be funded of VHS debt money.

I doubt the auctions will cover it. However, while doing the item tabulation I discovered that his aka diabloinex has 10 catapults that also need to be liquidated. That might take it to the top.

Enough thread highjacking though. PM me if you have anything further. I'll clean all this garbage out of donsig's thread when I get the chance.

I would like to upgrade the Fanatikan lottery Company to the the Fanatican Racing And Lottery Association (FRLA), which will be a public company.

Price list:
Lottery tickets 10g
Parimutual tickets for horse races 100g
Race horse registration fee 100g (maximum)
Entrance fee for horse race 1750g/horse (maximum)

Avg. price is 490g so the expense multiplier is 2. Public company multiplier is 3. Base start-up is 500g for this service company. Start-up is (500g*2*3)-original startup of 1000g=3000g-1000g=2000g.

I will pay this start-up cost.

The FRLA will issue 100 shares with a par value of 100g per share distributed as follows:

donsig: 60 shares
Octavian X: 10 shares
FRLA: 30 shares

We will have a registry of horses allowed to race . It will cost the owners up to 100g to register a horse. This gold will go into the purse fund. We will have a race every chat. Owners wanting to race must pay an entrance fee for each horse they enter. These fees will also go into the purse fund. The purse for each race will be distributed as follows: 60% to the owner of the winning horse, 25% to the owner of the second place horse, 10% to the owner of the third place horse and 5% to the owner of the fourth place horse.

We will take bets on the horses in each race. Bets will be in 100g increments. 15% of the bets will go into the purse fund. 25% will be the company's take. 60% will be returned to the bettors via a pari-mutual pool.

AP&N will post the order of finish in each race for 25g.

Lottery tickets will cost 10g per number chosen. The company's take of the lottery ticket sales will be 25%. 75% of ticket sales will be returned to the jackpot fund.Numbers range from 0 to 999. One winning number will be drawn per chat by AP&N for 10g. Purchasers of the winning number will share the drawing's stated jackpot.

donsig, you've erred in your startup costs. As your average charge is 100g you should be at a x1 price multiplier instead of a x2 multiplier. That makes your new startup 500*1*3 = 1500. Less the1000g original makes your upgrade cost 500g.

I thought my average charge was (10g + 100 g + 100g + 1750g)/4 = 1960g/4 = 490g. I expect some big stakes races in the future that's why I used the x2 multiplier.

Private company multiplier is *1
Partnership multiplier is *2

If you are the sole owner Civanator then your start-up will be 1500g.

If you have a parner (or partners) then the start-up is 2000g. If this is to be a partnership please post the names of the partners, their initial investment (how much they are paying of the start-up fees) and the percentage ownersip each partner has in the company.

If you wish to be a public company (and sell shares on the BSE) then the multiplier is *3 and the start-up would be 2500g. There are different ways to get the public company launched.

Once you clarify whether this company is to be solely owned, a partnership or public company then I will approve it. :)

The EgoCentric Eatery is looking to become **Name to be decided later, since im not calling my store S&M [SaaM and Mokra]** We will sell "stone books" to people. These books will go for around 125g a piece. You can choose from our wide variety of titles from all over the world. If you want an expidition to be mounted in search of a certain book, that will cost you an extra 50g. When you have payed for your books, the will be delivered to you (ie- ill email them to you)
I am keeping the eatery as is, only changing the menu to a caffe/bakery.
So: ECE (private owned) will change its menu from food to coffees, cookies, cakes, ect (ie- Starbucks). It will also sell the books (More like Barnse and Nobles, then).
So: Pastry: 10g
Coffee: 25g
Cookies: 5g each, or 30g for 10.
Cakes: 30g a slice
BOOKS: 125g per book
50g to go on a world expidition to search for a book.
This cost is estimated at 1000g. Please accept.

Yes, you can sell the discount card.

You can add additional items to the categories you already sell but you'll have to post your revisions here for approval. I'll just be double checking that the new items are within your pre-defined business category and I will also be checking to make sure the average of your price list doesn't increase to the point of putting you into the next expense category. If your business started with a price list avg. of under 100g, you'll have to keep your revised price list avg. under 100g or pay the higher expense start-up fee. :)

i request closure of the following shope:
Futuristic Weapon Shop (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=629137#post629137).
Reason:
Breaking of the rules.

The shop sells items which do not comply to the "max 1 tech advance" rule for item sales.

In my own defense (is this allowed)

A) I was unaware of such a rule. It is either not placed clearly in the rules thread, is confusingly worded, or I'm just too stupid to notice it.

B) Dis claims the problem is that we have Conflict rules that my merchandise creates problems for. The weapons are not meant to be used in the Conflicts, and a disclaimer will be up shortly.

C) Dis claims I am selling Conflict Units. Untrue. I am selling sport weaponry for individuals (actual living players of the DG and RPG)

D) How many times can 1 store be requested closed? I think I hold the record. If you will remember back to the other times angry mobs have threatened my store, every time it turned out to be ABSOLUTELY NOTHING>

I am willing to change my item list and put up disclaimers. Let it be known that I will use everything in my power to fight a decision to close my store. Thank you, and have a nice day.

Well, a new business would just be the straight cost, it would have nothing to do with an existing business. Upgrading a business is different. You figure the cost of the upgraded business then subtract the original investment(s) and pay the difference. If you want to upgrade an existing business I can figure it out for you if you specify the business, detail the upgrade wanted and post a link or links to the original start-up and any subsequent upgrades.

The start-up cost is 2000g since you have to pay 1000g in legal fees.

This business is approved pending the payment of the 2000g.

am i approved to start bussines? :egypt:

OK, for starters the company you bought at auction was never approved. The Iguanaman Dealership was the original company. It was a private manufacturer-reseller. The application post is here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=503777#post503777) and the price manager's approval is in the post after the application. The asset value of the dealership is 3000g. I would say that you are now the owner of the Iguanaman Dealership but the Fanatikan Transportation Partnership was never legal.

If you would like to convert the Iguanaman Dealership to this new business then here is the start-up cost (assuming it is a personal, i.e. one owner business with no partners or shares):

The average price on the list is just under 2000g making the expense factor X6. The base is 2000g since this is a manufacturer/reseller. The multiplier for personal business is X1:

2000g X6 X1 = 12,000g
Subtracting the original asset value of 3000g leaves a start-up cost of 9000g.

BTW, a partnership would cost 24,000g - 3000g or 21,000g. A public company (with shares) would cost 36,000g - 3000g or 33,000g.

If you want to reduce these start-up costs then lower your price list average.

The Iguanaman Dealership was registered. Then Great Iguanaman tried partnering with another business I think to make the Fanatikan Transportation Partnership. I recall exchanging a few pms about this very issue. Was that with you? Perhaps you can claim the other business as well from your auction purchase. Guess I'll have to research this again to see who owned the ship building business that GI tried merging with.

FRLA restructuring:

We would like to change the way the FRLA earns its income. We would also like to phase out the purse fund. Here are our proposed changes:

Variable entry fees (up to a maximum of 7500g) will be collected in each race and will be distributed as follows:

50% to the owner of the horse that finishes first
20% to the owner of the horse that finishes second
10% to the owner of the horse that finishes third
5% to the owner of the horse that finishes fourth
15% to the FRLA

We will continue to accept wagers on the races. The maximum wager accepted will be 7500g. 15% of the wagers will go to the FRLA and the remaining 85% will be returned to the winning bettors.

We will continue to charge registration fees for registering race horses: 100g for thouroughbreds and 50g for hunters and light warhorses. These fees will now go directly to the FRLA.

Our new price this thus becomes:

Registration fee (TB): 100g
Registration fee (LW): 50g
Registration fee (HU): 50g
Maximum wager: 7500g (1125g ro FRLA)
Maximum entry fee: 7500g (1125g to FRLA)

Avg. price is 490g which is within the range of the original FRLA set-up.

The original start-up is here. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=543724#post543724)

The FRLA will continue to have a CEO who will be paid 20% of the FRLA earnings. This gold will come from the COGS/taxes.

A couple problems. As a straight manufacturer you will be able to sell only to businesses that resell the items. You most likely want to be a manufacturer/reseller. Manufacturing costs are set by existing value so you will lose tremendous amounts of money with these prices. See the Equirias thread for an idea of what horses and wagons are valued at. Galley prices are set by the Conflicts thread. You can get free assistance in starting up this business by visiting the Apro, Poe & Nuffin thread.

the "lancre fund for the fanatikan populace" wants to be registered as non-profit organization.

we already have an account at the BOV, the startup of 1000g can be payed out of the fund.

Charter of the Organization:

The money should be used in favor of the fanatikan populace. No citizen of fanatika should be rejected by the helpers of the organization when searching for shelter and food.

As a result, the fund builds "populace centres" in each provincial capitol. Those centres can be used as public shelters by the poor to sleep and eat there.

Those centres also are used for cultural and private events, like concerts, shows etc.

Income for the organization is generated by donations and by the income of rental payments for the halls of the centres for events.

As chief-curator of the fund, at the moment gunning1 is nominated. The leader and owner of this non-profit organization is disorganizer the enlightened, baron of TSort.
