2.build the shrine for your state religion
3.spread your state religion to default number of players for this world size cities (7 for standard)
have you ever activated this event? have you ever completed it? comment on how it was triggered and whether or not it was worth it.

edit: i just realized that i screwed up this poll, too, by forgetting that there is a fourth option, that it has never triggered with random events on. my apologies to the moderators;) please delete this thread. i'm not doing this to be obnoxious, i just want to know about what kinds of odds you can expect for this event. so one last post, and that's it.

I dont remember ever getting this quest. As for how it is triggered its right there in the description--looks like anytime you have a state relgion but someone else controls the holy city there chance of it happening.

As for the rewards--1 is meh--4 unpromoted units not THAT big a deal unless youre protective or something and your at tech level where conscripts (assuming by "conscripts" they mean unit type you could draft at time of reward) would be muskets or something that would have built in promos.

Freebie holyshrine is a NICE reward and probably best reward of the three although might not be necessary since it usually good odds that AI will have built it already but if they havent then this definitely reward I would choose if I could.

Freebie religion spread can be ok better than 4 unpromoted units so one I would pick if it already had a shrine and didnt need reward number two. UNLESS because of way AP was at the time sending out auto religion spread to foriegn cities like that COULD end up coming back to bite you if you not careful so I would make sure that wouldnt be the case before I chose that one.

I had this quest once.
I was at war with the Greeks and the quest popped up with my SoD about three turns from Athens, also the Buddhist Holy City and the target of the quest. But when I took the city the reward didn't show up and the quest was completely gone from quest log. I'm not sure what happened; I'm just assuming it was a glitch though.

Make peace and declare war again might be the way. But then you have to wait another ten turns ;-)
