This is where you can discuss the Citizen Honors. You can post your idea for a new honor or anything else you want to talk about(Citizen Honors).

First off we need to create new honors. I'm sorry I couldn't post this thread sooner and it's alittle late, but I don't think this will take too long anyway.

Here are my suggestions:

Honor for people who got RL(Real Life) Injuries while serving as a mod, leader, Pres, VP, or citizen. (Hey I deserve something for having a 2 ton vechile land on my leg.... Do you know how big a dent that thing left?[The dents gone now BTW])

Now what about "Fanatikan Verdienstkreuz"?

THe awarding for being assailed in Real Life is tantamount to idiocy. First of it gives no benefits because of the recipients hard work, but because of hte recipients bad luck (if I may use the term, htough luck is really in my opinion non existent, more like random chance was against Strider) Now if we are going to reward things in RL life this will be tantamount to hypocrisy. For we do not allow (though it does sneek through) real life chat in the turn chat, but we allow awards for it? So please, when the decision comes, do NOT award real life accidents for people elected. Good Day!

All I ask is that these awards are not handed out based more on the buddy system than on actual contributions like they were last game.

Well, i think maybe awarding rl accidents wont be good because the risk of them may increase if people would like to have a honour ;-)

Anyway, the "Verdienstkreuz" is more like a "medal of honour"

OK, my suggestions:

Der Stern Fanatikan (The Fanatikan Star; general award)

Das Kreuz Fanatikan (The Fanatikan Cross; better general award)

Medaille von Valour (Medal of Valour; oustanding military service)

Medaille des Wissens (Medal of Knowledge; outstanding work in
science, the arts, mapping, etc.)

Die Oliven Zweige (The Olive Branches; outstanding work in
domestic policy and peace)

Hero des Fanatikan Reich (Hero of the Fanatikan Empire; greatest
award; awarded for outstanding work
in any gov't dept. during time of crisis)

Mit Streifen (with stripes, level 2)
Mit Gekreuzten Klingen (with crossed swords, level 3)
Mit Diamanten (with diamonds, level 4)
Mit Gekreuzten Klingen und Diamanten (with swords and
diamonds, level 5)

What about the 'Iron Cross' for general awards? it's the symbol on our flag...

Grandmaster

My suggestion of Fanatikan Cross is the same thing. Just slightly different, didn't want to go full-ahead German.

I like the proposed medals but use the English equivalent instead of German. We're not Germany.

i think we should use german as we are a german civ maybe we could use some easily understadable german and the rest english

Shaitan
Sep 06, 2002, 12:29 PM
We are not a German civ. We are a Fanatikan civ. Did the Phoenatics use arabic? No. The Phoenatics developed a freaky and wierd but unique language style to represent them.

Maybe its because of my natural handicap ;-) So i will stay quiete on this one and on any language things :-)

Perhaps we could use the suggested medals and names, and eventually (topic for another thread) develope a Fanatikan language based on German (kinda like English....)

Danke
Sep 06, 2002, 02:58 PM
Let's use the rankings (nice job GM!) and make up names for them, like last time. As long as one of them is the something*mumble* plotz, with stripes, I'll be happy

OK Straider, we all know you deserve a medal for getting run down. I'm against giving you an honour for it though (not that you dont deserve one for other things and I'm sure that I'll nominate you soon - send the money to my house ;)).

And howcome nobody nominated me for an honour in the last game. Oh well, at least I had a city named after me .

One more suggestion.... how about the "I Had an Oversized SUV Land on My Leg Award"? (maybe then *certain* people will accept my recommendations....)

Strider
Sep 06, 2002, 04:36 PM
Ok guys I've got 4 sections for the honors:

Leaders: President, Vice President(all the poistion's we vote on in elections)

Citizens: The Normal citizen awards

RPG: Non-Profit(No extra gold to your salary) awards for like: Most gold, Most items, most succesful business etc.

Special:(Non-profit or profit... depends on the awards)

Grandmaster
Sep 06, 2002, 04:37 PM
Hmmm..... gonna have to rethink my proposals.....

Grandmaster
Sep 06, 2002, 06:22 PM
OK, how about this.....
my original recommendations but for diff. (sub-divided) purposes:

Fanatikan Star, Fanatikan Cross: Citizens
Medal of Valour: Military Leader/Deputy
Medal of Knowledge: Science, Cultural Leader/Deputy
Olive Branches: Domestic, Foreign Affairs Leader/Deputy
Hero of the Fanatikan Empire: All gov't positions in time of crisis

New:

The Imperial Order: President/Vice-President
The Sausage & Banana: Trade Leader/Deputy
The Golden Gavel: Justices, Public Defender, Judge Advocate
The Certificate of Merit: RPG

Rankings still stay the same. Comments, questions?

I oppose separating the honours for citizens and leaders.
This would limit the eligable people for an order.
We should stick with grouping them in areas, the only new area i see is rpg.
So grouping should be imho:
general, domestic, cultural, military, scientific, forum work, rpg, non-citizen

I've worked with dis for about 6 months.... and I still don't understand how his mind works.....

We should write a book: "Inside Disorganizer's Mind."

I'd be against creating so many specific honors. Perhaps, we could have one for leadership, rpg work, and a general award.

Grandmaster

Thank you! Ok, I'm agreeing with Octavian this time. Keep it simple: have general awards, a coupla different kinds of gov't (leadership) awards, and an RPG award. It would work, and maybe we'd get the awards finished in time to hand one out in Term 1 if someone does something important.... (and the Medal of Valour goes to Eklektikos for beating the Aztecs to death....)

I agree with that just add one for awards awarded by govonors. IE: Almighty thinks someone in his province has done a great job. He wants that person to be recognized for his work. He can give that person an award(non-paying) that will go in the citizen honors hall of fame.

BTW, if anyone would like to be the sub-manager for citizen honors. Just tell me.

Ok.... how about for the governor-award awards, we could have something like "The Order of the Governor" or the "The (Insert Province Here) Order (ex. The Bohemian Order).... my old suggestions still withstanding for other awards..... btw Strider I might be interested in sub-managing. Would does one have to do?

Not that hard. Run the Hall Of Fame Thread and take over when I'm gone. Otherwise I'll post the polls, run the nomination thread etc.

Sounds good. You'd just have to show me where exactly those threads and such are, I get lost in my own house, let alone this huge forum. Does it by any chance give me any extra say in selecting which awards to use? *evil political smile*

Neither of those threads are up yet. The honors used will be voted on by the citizens.

Also everyone in agreement to have an RPG, general, leadership, and govonor sections for the honors.

I can't say I agree with tge governor's awards, though it would add a whole lot of interest to provincial history. We have to keep the number of awards down, because we don't want to give out so many that they become worthless.

Grandmaster
Sep 08, 2002, 04:32 PM
Good point. We should try to keep the number of awards down... maybe stricter criterion, or perhaps a limit on each kind of award each term (like 5 of each category of awards?)

disorganizer
Sep 09, 2002, 12:47 AM
Now i would propose:
Each province can have a number of "local awards" (i would propose max 2). The governor defines which ones and decides who gets them. They are different for each province.

The nation has only a limited number of 3-4 award, +1 "non-citizen" award.

Btw:
I like the idea of the "The Disorganized-Mind --- An inside view of disorganizers thinking"-book. Go forward and write one!
I will authorize it for a small reasonable fee $-)

Grandmaster
Sep 12, 2002, 03:30 PM
OK..... coupla questions

1) Did we just decide to stop thinking about this or what?
2) Are we generally in agreement about honor categories?
3) Will or when will we put up a poll about this?
4) Do we discuss honor criteria (or is it already set, what?)

Strider
Sep 12, 2002, 03:32 PM
1) I guess we all forgot about it
2)I'm in agreement
3) Once a good number of honors are proposed
4) We can discuss anything about the citizen honors in this thread

Grandmaster
Sep 12, 2002, 04:25 PM
By the poll I meant what set of honors to use.... should we not figure this out ahead of time before we start handing them out?

Octavian X
Sep 12, 2002, 07:45 PM
A poll would be a good idea. It's always good to get citizen input. Can we compile all the honors proposed so far?

disorganizer
Sep 13, 2002, 04:20 AM
i see 3 polls coming up:
1) multiple choice on the award names
2) normal on number of award to choose (will define the top-n of 1 which we use)
3) local honours?

if for example poll 2 gets us to 5 awards, then we will take the top5 of poll 1.

Leningrado
Sep 17, 2002, 05:57 PM
I would sugest:
1-The Forbes Award (for effort and money making)
2-The Trotsky Bear (for honor in the battlefield)
3-Honored Citizen (for hard working citizens)
4-Ad Honorem Mention (for citizens working hard for the govermente for free)

Strider
Sep 17, 2002, 06:16 PM
Ok..... Let's do it this way:

Catagory's: No poll... We decide on them here

Honors: 5 day poll....

Ok.... Sorry but I want everybody to repeat their honor suggestion/cat's suggestions. While the honors are polling we will decide on what cats to use.

Der Stern Fanatikan (The Fanatikan Star; general award)
Das Kreuz Fanatikan (The Fanatikan Cross; better general award)
Medaille von Valour (Medal of Valour; oustanding military service)
Medaille des Wissens (Medal of Knowledge; outstanding work in
science, the arts, mapping, etc.)
Die Oliven Zweige (The Olive Branches; outstanding work in domestic policy, trade and peace)
Hero des Fanatikan Reich (Hero of the Fanatikan Empire; greatest
award; awarded for outstanding work in any gov't dept. during time of crisis)
The Imperial Order (President/Vice-President)
The Golden Gavel (outstanding work in law)
The Certificate of Merit (RPG)

Mit Streifen (with stripes, level 2)
Mit Gekreuzten Klingen (with crossed swords, level 3)
Mit Diamanten (with diamonds, level 4)
Mit Gekreuzten Klingen und Diamanten (with swords and
diamonds, level 5)

Can we change all "The"s to "Der"s? Just for a bit more. And Golden Gavel seems a bit single person oriented..

Octavian X
Sep 17, 2002, 08:17 PM
I like all of Grandmaster's suggestions. I would narrow it down to these...

Das Kreuz Fanatikan (The Fanatikan Cross; better general award)
Medaille von Valour (Medal of Valour; oustanding military service)
Medaille des Wissens (Medal of Knowledge; outstanding work in
science, the arts, mapping, etc.)
Die Oliven Zweige (The Olive Branches; outstanding work in domestic policy, trade and peace)

We could then add awards for work in a specific branch of the Gov't

The Imperial Order (Executive Branch)
The Golden Gavel (Judicial Branch)
The (provincial name) Order (Legislative Branch)

i think we should have all of grandmasters suggestions exactly hoe the are, except with the thes turned into ders. This would give everyone who deserves an award a chance to get one.
