Well, FileFront is going offline by the end of the month. Where should I host the files now? I've used Atomic Gamer in the past, but the wait time has not been popular.

I use rapidshare myself. (4,700+ downloads so far, haven't gotten any complaints.)

Without an account files uploaded there can only be downloaded 10 times before being deleted. There doesn't seem to be a way to get a Collector's account and I don't want to pay for premium.

Yeah, that gave me some trouble, but I do have an account now and I'm not paying. There's atomicgamer too, ofcourse (but they have a DL waiting period). And then there's SourceForge.

So how do you get a free account there? There doesn't appear to be a signup page.

I think this is what you need: https://ssl.rapidshare.com/cgi-bin/collectorszone.cgi (They do have a 200 MB max upload: http://rapidshare.com/index.html)

Strategy Informer has a 500MB limit, so I've gone with them now.

Also seems to be a pretty popular site for mods. Thomas War has nearly 5,000 downloads from there, which is as many as he's gotten from this site.

Can't argue with that.:nope:

http://www.filedropper.com has a 5gb free limit.

I've decided to go with filedropper. I'll reupload the 1.20 patch tonight and the rest of the mod tomorrow (FinalFrontierFlat and Convert Production to Espionage have both been uploaded to CFC).

Not to sound nagging, but remember to also upload the art and sound zip files because the link at the top there under "download latest version" is a dead link.

Thanks, love ur work brotha!

I think they pulled the file. I think I'll have to use Atomic Gamer again. At least I can keep track of the files there. I don't have time to do anything about it now, though.

I also came across this post in the "Filefront is closing" thread:

For whats it's worth I can host any mod of any size. No waiting time for downloading. 100% free.

http://www.stormoverciv.org/forums/index.php

At least one modder has taken MarineCorps up on his offer.

As it turns out, the first copy of it on Atomic Gamer is still there, so I didn't have to reupload anything. It also has a copy of the main mod, but it's beta 3. Let me know if the main mod or patch ever go offline.

That's patch 1.2, right? Getting a "File could not be found" message with that...

Still works on may end (and there are no other patch versions online; I don't even have them, actually).

OK, but from here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=288763&page=5) I can't DL. Sorry. (Actually it says "Page not found". It may just be on my end, but I wouldn't know how to check. Do you have an alternative link maybe?)

It looks like it's on your end. I copy and pasted the same link in to all the pages so all the download links point to it.

I better wait for the next patch then.:(

So looks like FileFront is back from the dead.

Perhaps it was just an early April Fool's joke.

No, it appears it was a 'serious' business affair, with FileFront threatening to loose its main sponsor; they found a new one, sort of last-minute-like.;)

Well, since FileFront isn't going down as though, here's the FileFront link (http://files.filefront.com/Star+Trek+120+Patch/;13017370;/fileinfo.html). I haven't changed the patch since originally released in January, though.

Hi guys!

So, anyone knows where we can download the mod and its patch?
Link shown does not work :(

Thanks!

I guess that's the end of filedropper. I'll re-link everything to FileFront tonight.

Speaking of patches: when's the next one coming?

deanej
Apr 07, 2009, 05:26 PM
There won't be more patches for 1.0 unless a really major bug comes along. That said, I'm currently working on 2.0, which will be like an expansion pack (and a new full download). I have most of the main mod done but I'm pretty busy right now so I'm not sure when I'll get it finished (especially since I plan to have new scenarios that I haven't started yet).

Deanej thank you!

Will download the files as soon as I get home.

One quick question: as I'm new to civ4 and mods...where do I install these files?
(just bored to read one million posts in various topics to find out lolol)

Thanks again!

The readme has install instructions that should tell you the location if you have civ installed in the default location (as in, where it installs if you have the CD version).
