I'm currently running 2 gigs of RAM on my laptop, and Civ tends to lag on me on the larger maps. My dad suggested as an alternative to adding more RAM, to use something called ReadyBoost. Anyone using that who can comment on how well it works?

It works quite well, actually. It's a really good alternative to adding more memory, if you aren't able to do that because of hardware limits or cost. I did it on my old 2 GB laptop and it made large and huge games bearable with 2 GB of Readyboost. USB drives are so cheap these days, why not?
