View Full Version : Game Session Instruction Thread - Sat 4/4 0900 Arizona (1600 UTC) DaveShack Apr 01, 2009, 07:06 PM The next game session is scheduled for Saturday April 4th 0900 Arizona (UTC-7) 1600 UTC Save: (to be linked) Bowsling Apr 01, 2009, 07:08 PM Pop any huts. Wait until a third warrior, hopefully built in Moira, arrives on the mountain to attack the Goths. Explore mainly westwards, with the exception of the next warrior from Tara, who will explore southwards. civplayah Apr 01, 2009, 07:29 PM Pop any huts. Wait until a third warrior, hopefully built in Moira, arrives on the mountain to attack the Goths. Explore mainly westwards, with the exception of the next warrior from Tara, who will explore southwards. I concur...... Zearo Apr 02, 2009, 03:26 AM If we come across another Civilization maintain good relations, and don't delcare war.... If england , however, don't worry about offending, If germany, maintain good relations. I think thats kind of obvious though... DaveShack Apr 02, 2009, 10:16 AM I've been "invited" by my wife to participate in a charity walk at the time this session was scheduled for. I think it will be later in the day -- maybe 1pm Arizona = 2000 UTC. Cyc Apr 03, 2009, 06:47 PM You might want to change the info in the first post, DaveShack. Some people may not read this far. That time works for me, although I'll be working. I'll try to stop in. DaveShack Apr 03, 2009, 07:32 PM Wasn't going to change it till I knew the actual time. Turns out she's not feeling well anyway so it will most likely be at the scheduled time. Cyc Apr 04, 2009, 08:05 AM As we are building a Barracks in Tara (to allow for growth), no additional Settler will be produced this T/C. Please plant the current Settler on the Hill by the Incense as discussed. That location received wide support. I would say build a Temple in Tara, but with those 5 Barbs heading to the BBQ, we might want to think about vet Warriors. Posibly that Temple in Moira we discussed earlier? Good luck with the Barbarians. DaveShack Apr 04, 2009, 11:09 AM Game session starting Update: Turn 4 reached. England met! Her reward: contact with Theodora of the Byzantines!! We can even get a very good trade. :) http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/8339/dg1950bcbyzdeal.jpg (http://img91.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dg1950bcbyzdeal.jpg) Ending save uploaded. The barbs were fortified on a hill, thus our chances were better defending than attacking. One warrior (named billybones27) lost to the first attack. The second warrior took damage to 2/3 and killed a barb. The third warrior had three victories and was promoted twice to Elite, ending up 4/5. There is a barb village in the frozen north, and another barb warrior headed south. We finished writing and research is set to philosophy. Nothing will be lost by changing, no beakers are invested. The Byzantines beat us to writing by one turn. If they are also going the philosophy route it may be a close race. From huts we got maps of the English lands, and knowledge of the Wheel. There are horses just outside the borders of Tara. Bowsling Apr 05, 2009, 11:48 AM attacking with the minister of defense's warrior first? :nono: oh well, my new unit can be an archer or a spearman! :woohoo: civplayah Apr 08, 2009, 04:02 PM That's the icon for CivAssist II. DaveShack has it running in the background while he's playing Civ3 Conquests. It'sa game analyzing program that can give you additional info you may have over-looked. You can set it up to run automatically when you start Civ3 or you can bring it up later and scope out any Civ3 game on your hard drive. Really? How do you get it to run at launch? Cyc Apr 08, 2009, 05:10 PM Really? How do you get it to run at launch? I don't run it while I'm playing. Just as an after thought later to check alerts and do some planning. I believe (just looked) it's the first option in the options box. (press the options/about button) CommandoBob Apr 08, 2009, 07:50 PM I use MapStat, part of CrpSuite (Crp = Civ replay :D). This doesn't have all the details that CivAssist II does, but it has a smaller memory footprint. I use it for three things: 1) cities that are currently unhappy this turn and will shut down next turn and 2) see who has what to trade and 3) how many turns left on my Military Alliances. I find it easier to use than CAII, but that is just me. I can Alt-Tab from MapStat to Notepad; CAII doesn't do that easily. Furiey Apr 09, 2009, 01:37 AM I've used both MapStat (CRP suite) and CivAssist. MapStat is definitely better if you have a older PC with less memory, CivAssist give more info. Both can be run without Civ running to get the info about the save. CommandoBob Apr 09, 2009, 10:08 AM On my older PC (500 MHz, 256 MB RAM) I couldn't run C3C and CAII; C3C and MapStat wasn't a problem. So I got used to it and prefer it even now on the newer box. CAII has more detail, but when I'm playing I don't care for all that detail. If I'm trying to decide on a strategy, I'll generally just open CAII and examine the night away. In-game, for me, the best part of CAII is the detailed breakdown of the current trades, especially when there are several live deals with one civ. All MapStat is show how length left on the most recent trade and sometimes that is not enough. I think both programs are good and highly recommend both of them. Oh, and MapFinder also. It will help you locate a decent starting position for a game. |
