What about the budget discussion thread?

What about the budget discussion thread?

At this point our budget is so small an independent discussion thread may not be warranted. If you have any concerns about our national or provincial budgets, please feel free to post in this thread. Most discussions on national bugets will be about funds to rush a city improvement. And these discussions may come from Provincial Budget discussions. We haven't reached that point yet, but when we do, I'll be sure to bring it up.

Thank you for asking. :goodjob:

The Domestic Department would like to take this opportunity to point out that Hibernia's Culture point total is higher than our score! :goodjob:

Looks like we were beaten to the Collosus by our enemy (it will be ours), so we are currently building the Musoleum of Mausellos (5 turns). We do however of changing this to the Great Library which will currently take 27 turns if we change now. The Great Library seems a preferrable option to me.

same with me. the other option tho, is to put it at the great library, go 100% to Map Making, then get the GLH.

Good points. We shall switch to the Great Library at first light, and continue with that Wonder until the nation decides to switch to another Wonder.

I started a discussion in the citizen's thread for the GL -- guess it wasn't needed. ;)

GLib makes sense, we'll need some cash to finance our future war, and not paying for research would be just the ticket.

I was thinking perhaps Rhiannon could build the Statue of Zeus (would be completed in 17 turns), which would give us ancient cavalry every 5 turns.

Though it may just be a bit of a glitch that Rhiannon can actually build it when I view the save because it doesn't look like we have any Ivory (which is required to build it)

thoughts?

The people chose to play in a slightly modified world, in which Ivory is not required for this wonderful wonder.

Would we be required to support all of those ACs? That's a lot of units.

I believe the Unit support requirements still apply to the AC's

However, the power of the AC's are greater then warriors or Spearmen so we might choose to disband some of these to support the units. Though hopefully we can beef up our economy a bit to be able to support these, accomplish our research and still gain gold.

Personally, I'd love AC's, because that is a whole lot faster to get them then GS's except maybe if they were built in Tara, and we can have a flourishing country during war (building a lot of buildings, etc. instead of almost entirely military). And the extra health will make defense very happy.

Also important to note, IIRC from looking at the save the Hated English are in the progress of building the Temple of Zeus themselves, and this is an advantage we can not afford to let them have.

If Rhiannon were to switch immediately I'm confident we can beat the English and finish first.

Also, the 17 turn estimate can be further reduced by reallocating some citizens, though I forget exactly how many turns it went down to.

I think it's a good idea. We can use the ACs instead of our Gallic Swordsmen to help us re-distribute land. ;) That will enable us to hold off on our Golden Age. I'll start a thread in the Citizen's sub-forum to see if there is any dissent.

I may have missed this in another thread (sorry), but...

the Courthouses being built in Tara and Moira are Market prebuilds?

Cyc

Yes Sir, CommandoBob. It wasn't really in another thread. The only way you could've gotten concrete proof was to have read the Chat Log.

Did some checking ~

I can't see spending our gold upgrading any unit that is a Regular or below. If we upgrade the Vet Warrior in Molly, we can send him to Rhiannon the next turn. We can also move up Warriors, but not upgrade Regs or Cons.

During pre-turn I can change where our citizens work to give us a boost in Commerce.
If we rush the Vet Warrior in Molly, that will leave us with 29 gold. With the change in Commerce, we will get 87 gold next turn, giving us 116 gold for rushing. We can also do that for the turn afterwards, but can't really keep that up, as our cities will start to starve.

Good. No objections. I will do this pre-turn.
