View Full Version : Job Open: Assistant Governor of Bohemia
Almightyjosh Sep 07, 2002, 09:30 AM These are the guidlines for Assistant Governor:
Assistant Governor Guidelines
The assistant governor (AG) has several responsibilities.
1) The AG will automatically take on the Governor's responsibilities should he announce a temporary absence or if the Governor is absent without notice for 48 hours
2) The AG is a designated turn chat rep for the province
3) Any informal questions about the province may be directed to the AG if the Governor is not in the office (on-line)
4) Will need to provide an e-mail adress so they can post build ques should the Governor be unable to access the forum
5) The AG chairs the Provincial Council
6) The AG may be dismissed by a 2/3 majority of the Provincial Council
End Assistant Governor Guidelines
NB: the provincial council will be establised soonish.
I need someone very reliable as I will be taking a few days of leave later this term.
Applications are welcome from anyone except leaders, who are already too busy. Self nomination encouraged. This position will be appointed then ratified by the citizenry.

donsig Sep 07, 2002, 10:34 AM While I support the idea of an Assistant Governor I would feel much more comfortable with this plan if the Judicial Department took a look at it. I'm not formally asking for a judicial review but I do urge the governor to consider doing so.
Octavian X Sep 07, 2002, 11:19 AM This 'assistant' governor sounds mighty like a deputy. What you can do is appoint an acting governor, get him approved, then when you need him to take over, post it in the provincial thread. Besides, how hard can it be governor a single city?
disorganizer Sep 07, 2002, 04:27 PM Well, i think this is a prototype for other provinces and later on as well. I strictly support it.
As we have time to discuss such things now, its good. Later when we will need it, we wont have time to discuss it.
neutral leader Sep 07, 2002, 04:42 PM i would like to nominate myself for this position. although i have missed the last 2 turn chats i have every intention of making all future chats. i dont have any conflicting outside obligations, and as everyone knows i am very enthusiastic about provincial government.
neutral leader is a good, responsible (assistant) provincial governor
you can e-mail me at rbrunton@mac.com
disorganizer Sep 07, 2002, 04:45 PM hey, nl even changed his signature ;-)
Almightyjosh Sep 08, 2002, 07:56 AM The scary thing is, I dont think that's his sig, he just puts it at the bottom of EVERY post, thats dedication ;)
I will allow another few hours for applications then I will consider all the candidates. This position will be appointed, as I said, and then the person will be polled for support as both a chat rep and an acting governor (though I will not be leaving immediately :))

disorganizer Sep 09, 2002, 12:41 AM @octavian: if we call him acting governor, would this help?!?
neutral leader Sep 09, 2002, 04:35 PM brownbomber is well known for his seditious slogans in the provincial thread! i hardly think a man who has requested independence for south bohemia and death to our entire nation is qualified for this position.
Octavian X Sep 09, 2002, 06:14 PM 'Acting' governor would be much more approiriate.
Almightyjosh Sep 10, 2002, 04:50 AM Fine, I don't care what you want to call it. I am combining a number of functions into a single role. The 'acting' part means that (after a citizen confirmation poll) this person can be automatically moved into the 'acting governor' position should I be away. Also, this person will have authority as a turn-chat rep (again, cit poll) when I'm not there. There are also responsibilities under the (soon to be established) provincial law system. So I have combined all of these VALID positions into one bundle and named it 'assistant' governor for ease. Happy yet X?
donsig Sep 10, 2002, 10:38 AM A rose by any other name would smell as sweet...
...and an Assistand Governor or Acting Governor would still be a stinking Deputy Governor. ;)
I'm the most outspoken proponent of having deputy governors but it requires a change in the CoL to have them!

Apparently it doesn't... it seems that all the powers required to create an ersatz deputy governor are written into the constitution, and I see no rule stating that they can't all be given to a single citizen... so to prevent AJ from proposing a candidate to receive those powers requires a change to a law or standard somewhere. However the anti-AG contingent seem to have forgotten that there is a constitutional way to trump him. ;)
brownbomber Sep 10, 2002, 12:44 PM Give me a chance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you could always impeach me if I do bad.
brownbomber Sep 10, 2002, 12:45 PM If I don't win, I'll vote for Civgeneral. i don't wanna see neutral leader win
brownbomber Sep 10, 2002, 04:34 PM VOTE FOR ME!!!!!
Almightyjosh Sep 11, 2002, 07:23 AM I've had a gutful of BB already....
OK. This is what I have decided to do.
Because we currently have a very small senate (me) and not many provincial positions open, I have decided to give Neutral Leader a chance. He has shown a keen interest in provincial politics, and I remember being new. This is in NO WAY a reflection on CivGeneral, who would make a superb Governor IMHO, but who is far more established and already holds a position in governent. Accordingly I will take these actions:
1. Propose NL as a Bohemian Turn Chat Rep
2. Propose NL as the person who will become acting governor should I announce an absence.
3. Cross my fingers and hope the provincial council will be along soon.
4. NL will be given the title Beer Drinking Doughnut Fetishist Governor (BDDF Gov), not Assistant Governor. This should be recognised in the same way as mayors and payed as a turnchat rep. If you do not know the reasons for this seemingly absurd title, please read the Judiciary Thread.
The first two of these requires a citizen poll.
Shaitan Sep 11, 2002, 07:27 AM brownbomber has been banned for 3 days because of repeated spamming in the Demogame forums.
Danke Sep 11, 2002, 10:36 AM AJ, you are a wise and benevolent Guv. Nicely handled, professionally executed. :)
