View Full Version : What Should Fanatikan Money be Called? Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 07, 2002, 12:27 PM This is a bank thread. We are asking what should we call our money? All sugestions will be taken. Zarn Sep 07, 2002, 12:50 PM Imperial credits or just credits? philippe Sep 07, 2002, 01:09 PM Marken maybe franken Or euro Or braadwurstmoney.. disorganizer Sep 07, 2002, 04:18 PM Maybe we should call it Teuro (hey, thats a german "joke"!). I would call them "Doughmark". From doughnuts and mark. Or "Beero". Or maybe just "Yellowstones"? Ehecatl Atzin Sep 07, 2002, 05:04 PM I like the credits idea, Imperial maybe, until we get a monarchy. Ehecatl Atzin Grandmaster Sep 07, 2002, 08:09 PM F(anatik)-Marks? E(mpire)-Marks (or R-Marks, if ya want to go that route...)? I kinda like Imperial Credits.... Maybe a currency system.... like: 1 gold= 1 Credit 10 Credits= 1 F-Mark 10 F-Marks (or 100 Credits)= E-Mark Credits are like cents, marks are the basic denomination (like in history, things that once cost a coupla cents now cost a few dollars with inflation, sorry only know american terminology, so prices start at single gold-credits- and then increase with time to multiples of 10 or 100) We had a similiar suggestion last game, I think.... philippe Sep 07, 2002, 08:16 PM I got great idea! Before currency our money is the name:swapping(ruilhandel) after currency:bronspieces after banking:schillings after industralion:marken after computers :Fanatic marks! so our money is in the time of where we are and the name changes by certain techs! Toasty Sep 07, 2002, 08:22 PM Reichmarks! Octavian X Sep 07, 2002, 10:10 PM Let's call it what it's always been, so we dpn't confuse the newbies. Keep gold as our standardized currency! (BTW: We haven't developed currency yet...) Grandmaster Sep 08, 2002, 06:55 AM @Octavian: now, am I the only one to realize that the Gold Standard has caused major problems throughout history (dunno... anyone ever hear of this thing called the Great Depression?) I'm all for keeping the newbies from becoming confused (i was after all a newbie at the beginning of the summer) but i think they can handle some named currency VHS Sep 08, 2002, 09:31 AM i dont think calling it gold is going to lead to a depression Grandmaster Sep 08, 2002, 12:06 PM I know, I know.... but it would still suck. I think we're all more creative than that.... brownbomber Sep 08, 2002, 07:08 PM They should be called Fanatikan Monetary Credits Zarn Sep 08, 2002, 07:09 PM You mean FMC's. Would that work? disorganizer Sep 09, 2002, 12:43 AM we could change the name though: lets see.... we start with gold now. in the next age, we change it to "Credits". in the next age, we will then change it to "FMU" (Fanatikan Monetary Unit". Each change will reduce the worth of the money by a factor of 10, so: 1gold=10Credits=100FMU's Shaitan Sep 09, 2002, 10:45 AM How about: Gold Eagle (Royal) Silver Bear (Mark) Copper Salmon (Penny) The metal is what they're made of. Eagle, Bear and Salmon would be the counter face stamp and the colloquiall term for the coin. (The true face would of course be stamped with our mighty President's visage.) Royal, Mark and Penny would be the "official" terms. This way you could call a gold peace a "gold", a "royal" or an "eagle" or virtually any combination thereof. Grandmaster Sep 09, 2002, 01:13 PM I like Shaitans idea..... but why exactly a Salmon? Can't we think of a better animal than that? Shaitan Sep 09, 2002, 01:18 PM It is a symbol of wisdom. (Penny wise ;) ) It's also the only fish I know that features prominently in multiple theologies. I wanted one creature each for sky, earth and land as those are the three elements we will dominate. Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 09, 2002, 02:28 PM what is a strong navy?- answer: something phonetica lacked. i like it too. ill listen to more constructive responses, but that may be it. also, the money would be like: 10 salmon equal 1 bear. 10 bears equal 1 eagle. but it wouldnt be a new currency (no way, no how). it would be like the $1, $10 and $100. Grandmaster Sep 09, 2002, 04:47 PM Ok, now that I understand the logic behind the salmon.... I like it. Denominations: its a good thing. Octavian X Sep 09, 2002, 06:12 PM If we use fish, it should be trout:D As for my opinions, either gold, or the earlier doughmarks. Stuck_as_a_Mac Sep 09, 2002, 06:13 PM no! there are to be no trouts! besides- salmon are more ancient sounding. cool_ice Sep 24, 2002, 08:49 AM i want credits |
