Now, if you will forgive this blatant plus, I have recently opened my Primus Gems and Jewelery Shoppe (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33661) where the people of Fanatika can purchase actual Community gems, taken from the strangling jungles to the north-east of our capitol, hand-cut in the finest workshops of Primus, and - if you so desire - placed in Nibbon-golden jewelery.

I would be more than happy to supply any tenants of your building with wildly expensive office ornaments and the like - if any of them are interested, we could set up a contract and work on some quantity discounts. Have another drink, VHS, and let's get a couple of "specialty of the house" snacks - it's on me! Once you've talked with your tenants, we can work out a contract over dinner some time :)

Just to avoid confusion - no, I don't expect those drinks to come out of the free ten :p

Well, stones don't come cheap, but considering that this could be my first sale, with you as my first customer, and to celebrate the construction of your huge tower, I'm sure we can work out a very reasonable price. Basically - what are you looking for? How many stones, what shape, what weight, where do you want them? Of course, large orders can be bought on credit, but as a businessman I'm sure you understand I'll need a little more information on your finance before I commit to that ;)

You should also note that our current stock isn't very large as we have to chop these gems out of thick jungle. The Community government will probably take quite some time to establish a proper infrastructure. Until then, it's up to private prospectors and entrepreneurs to gather up the stones, but we'll deliver, even if it will take a few days.

Enter Brother Adam and Sister Eve...

Hello there. We are pilgrims from the Community. We are here to participate in the upcomming religious parade. We saw that you have a tavern here, so we decided to come in. Actually, our Spiritualist leader, Brother McNulty brews a quite delicious beverage called Whisky. We brought a few barrels from the Community and donated them to the organisers of the Parade. We do however have one barrel left.

Anyone want to have a taste?

p.s. We heard that our countryman Maniacialmonkey frequents this establishment. Has he been in lately?

Well I'll be! Brother Adam and Sister Eve! How very good to see you two! Join me for a drink, and get that barrel set up at the bar - I've been dying for a proper Whisky since I got here. Have some donuts, they're pretty good this time of year. How are the preperations for the Parade coming along?

PS: Uhm, Dis, I've been building up something of a tab today... How much is it so far?

Oy now! I've only had one free beer, it would be rather rude for me to leech on the Rebel's generosity all day. The donuts, drinks I gave VHS, and the drinks for the McNulty's will be paid straight-up. I've been spending like no tomorrow all day so these last few drinks won't kill me - not financially anyway :D

Oh and I do recommend BCGL's shop if you want to get some clothes, he set me up with a couple of these silk toga's - notice the custom dark blue border...

* shows off toga *

Pretty cool eh? I'd be more than happy to buy a couple of robes for the parade, go to the shop and place the order, I'll pick up the check. I'm gonna order some leisure wear to go with my sombrero in a while too, but for now - in between the "server too busy" errors - let's relax and have a few drinks. Will you be joining us, BCGL?

The pub management happyly announces a new improovement of our service which will catapult us to a new age of brewerage delivery.
A SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE!

You can now subscribe to the drinks in the pub and get them freely delivered at your home or shop!

How does that work?
You can subscribe to a pub delivery by posting a order in the pub thread. Please provide with your order that it is a subscription order! (For example: Subscription order for 1x riot beer per chat to lancre castle)
Please also provide where we should deliver the drink.
After the order is processed you will get your receipt with a per turnchat price (see below for the pricing) and you will be delivered the drink with the next turnchat.
You can cancle the subscription at any time with 2 turnchats pre-notice!

What is my benefit of this?
* You can buy the drinks in barrels for the wholesale price even if you use it privately! (see below for pricing)
* As subscription customer, you will be listed in the first post of the pub and are eligable for free talking in the pub.

How much does it cost?
* It does not cost you anything. The normal pub prices are taken and then payed per turnchat.
* It is even cheaper! As subscription customer you are eligable for wholesale prices even if you do not use the barrels for a business! So you will get 10l riot beer in a barrel for example for 50gold instead of paying 100 gold if you buy them seperately!

How much of a drink will i need?
That depends on you. I would propose taking it barrel wise per chat, as you will have to survive 3 days with the drink you order ;-)

McNulty

We believe that we shall try the Riot Beer. One each please. Ambassador Maniacalmonkey, we thank you for the sandals that you so generously bought for us. And of course, we shall take you up on your offer to lodge with you. I believe that after we have finished our drinks and allowed these good people to sample Brother McNulty's brew, we shall go to your Gem shop to inspect your wares.

Here u are MM, 10 gold please...
At the moment, i am pretty broke cause i as knight of lancre have to prepare myself for the crusade against the aztecs. Buying armor and weaponry is really expensive! And i overextended my budget a bit in buying shares lately. But i come back as soon as i am in the + again ;-)

Can i interest you in a beer subscription? You would get for example one beer each TC free at your home for only 10g/tc.
You are a heavy-drinker? You can also order barrels at wholesale prices for 50g/tc. They hold riot for 10 single beers, so that would be a 50% discount!

*pays 10g*

Ah, the crusade! I have contacted Eyrie and I'm hoping we will be able to provide a very fitting gift to whoever will lead this brave enterprise. Stay tuned ;)

I will turn down your subscription offer for now, I enjoy the pub too much to sit at home and drink alone... But later, per chance. As ambassador, of course I will need to procure a better dwelling and there will be receptions (including rather large orders of beer) once it's all set, but the funds from the Shoppe need to start coming in first :)

I would love to go on the crusade but all I have is a sword and a horse, but out of money. Also I want to buy stocks and a better house so I can become a knight. I am currently making about 45 or 50 per t/c so in about 10 t/cs I might be able to be in better money and have a house. And then if we have another crusade I would be able to go.

Quick question - I intend to use the money I'll make off crafting the most AWESOME SWORD IN HISTORY to buy a big, caligulan mansion for ambassadorial use. I'd also like to station a company of Primus Guard spearmen there - who do I talk to about rights of sovereignty and permission to bring Community troops into the mansion?

Don't know MM..... but what I do know is that Spearman are already outdated. Why is a fine ambassador like yourself using obsolete technology to defend himself? Come on down to the Futuristic Weapons Shop and outfit your Guards with state-of-the-art Iron Pikes. Can't beat 'em for defense. Anyway, I guess you would ask either Eklektikos or CivGeneral.

TO all wanting parties, selling stuff etc, for example octavian:

Parties can be done with drink and waiter supply of the pub. Please contact the waiters (gunning, shabbaman) directly for organizational issues. We normally offer wholesale prices if drinks are ordered in barrels.

All drinks in the pub can be baught at wholesale prices in barrels (or the distilled in litre-bottles) for shops. The shop reselling those items can define for itself in which "dose" it will serve the drink.
Same for the parties of course.

For regular selling of items in a shop, i would recommend subscribing to drinks for having it easily handled. A shop yould subscribe for example to 1 barrel of beer. it could then resell 10 literes of this stuff between chats.

Now an example:
The BRS wants to resell riot beer. It buys a 10 litres bottle for 50gold. If the BRS used the 1-litre portion as it is sold in the pub, this barrel will be enough for 10 beer-servings. If the BRS halves the amount resold per serving to 0,5 litres, it can server 20 beers out of the same barrel!
Same of course for any party etc. and for all other products.

Shaitan
Oct 10, 2002, 03:10 AM
@disorganizer - How about a per person straight catering price? That way there's no record keeping necessary at the party site. This is how it's normally done in RL. Say $20 per guest for well drinks and beer, $35 for top shelf. Those are per person prices of course. You could do something similar.

* only non-dizzy drinks. alcoholics have to be baught seperately
* including "lower beers" (the 10g/beer class)
* including all beers (also the 15g/beer class)
* including "hard drinks" like BJ, SBJ, DBJ, *DBJ, **DBJ, ***DBJ

Old DBJ!
From one star to five stars, these distilled banana jouces will surely satisfy even the most demanding bon vivant.

They are produced in the distillery, and stored in the basements of the rebel pub for a VERY long time in specially built barrels.
The secrets of production of those specialities goes back to the ancestors of our founding fathers, and is kept secret in the bloodline of the nobles of lancre and ankh for private use.

*Walks in the warm and cosy pub and throws his bear skin in the corner*

Hey, this is a nice place. I traveled from the lands of The Community to taste your famous Riot beer. (*tosses 10 gold near the tap*) but that's not the only reason I'm here. I'm here to start a small trading establishment together with my trading partner ScorpiusAP. We would like to offer the people from Fanatika the best items from The Community.

First of all we have the McNulty clan. This religious family are our guides to reach the Spirits. Brother McNulty preaches spiritualism in the Lighthouse and I heard you already met Brother Adam and sister Eve. On top of that they make an excellent whiskey named McNulty's malt whiskey.

Furthermore we have our news bringer, story teller and chief editor OlafS who writes up-to-date stories in his revealing tabloid named The Lake. Of course The Lake will be sold in our small little shop.

Of course you can also buy The Community flag and T-shirts with the flag, the lake or one of our four spirits stitched in these shirts.

If you want to see the items yourself just enter The Community Souvenir Shop (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33903) . You'll be amazed with all the various products the Community has to offer you.

I wonder if the owner of this fine establishment is interested in selling McNulty's malt whiskey? If you are able to buy bottles on a regular base we can lower our price to 75 per bottle (0.5litres). This way you can make a profit and we are making a small profit with a regular income. Furthermore you will have an extra drink to serve in the pub which will probably have a positive effect on the amount of costumers in here.

We now offer simplified billing for events!
You know what you want to serve?
You know how many participants you have?
Good! Then you get a fixed price.

There are 4 Versions you can decide between:

"the abstinence"
only non-dizzy drinks are included, all others have to be ordered.
15gold / participant

"the fest"
normal beers and non-dizzy drinks are included
20gold / participant

"the beer-lovers party"
all beers are included
30gold / participant

"the orgy"
all drinks are included. only DBJ-specialities (*ed DBJ's) are excluded
45gold / participant

now isnt that an offer?

note: the serving of those events is not included in the price. the price only includes delivery of brewerage.

Now hows the brotherhood?

McNulty
Oct 11, 2002, 03:33 PM
"Deposits 20g on the bar"

It's not a brotherhood my friend, as Sister Eve's presence clearly proves. We are called Spiritualists.

Raises the glass of Whisky and downs it in one

Ah! That's the stuff! I hear that Brother McNulty is exporting this whisky to Fanatika now. That's great news.

Lifts the glass of Riot Beer and takes a modest draught

Anyway, we have had some good news on the Mission front. Our good friend Brother Shaitan has offered us a place to set up our Mission. Of course, we have yet to see it, but it is a wonderful gesture.

Another drink of beer

We're really looking forward to the religious parade tomorrow. We donate several barrels of McNulty's Whisky for the after march party, so they'll be a few sore heads the next morning "Laughs" . Seriously, there should be representatives of many different religions from many lands in attendance. It's quite an honour for us to be included.

Finishes the Beer

Well, that was lovely. A good beverage that Riot beer, goes well with the whisky. Barman, see if you can squeeze another round for everyone out of our barrel. We're off to get an early night. A big day tomorrow.

Brother Adam and Sister Eve leave the Tavern, waving to all assembled.

Thanks. BTW, McNulty is our surname. We hail from the McNulty Clan in the Community. Please refer to us by our first names, Brother Adam and Sister Eve. That will not confuse us with the founder of our religion, Brother McNulty, who is still back home in Primus.

Takes a draught of the Beer

Good stuff. Anyway, we had thought that the parade would be held today, but at the last minute, Lord Master Zarn of the Jedis tells us at the Ambassador's mansion that it's been posponed untill tomorrow.

Another draught taken

So there we were, dressed up in our best clothes, even wearing those nice sandals that Maniacalmonkey bought for us, and we had nowhere to go. It was a bit off, I can tell you!

Another draught

We finally decided to have a bit of an explore about Bavaria. It's a realy nice place to be sure, no Primus of course, but then what is. We went in to the shops and had a look around, before heading back. We were going to pass the Tavern, but we remembered what a nice time we had yesterday night, so we decided to stop in.

Finishes the drink

A fine way to end the evening. See you soon.

this would total you to 20g/spectator and 45g/participant.

i hope the show starts soon :-) i redid my config as now i finally understood the rules... and i think i got the almost optimum setting to not only be centrated to one event. though i drive a bit of a brutal line in the events i participate!

im also wondering who will clean up your place and collect all the giblets and other rests to recycle them :-)

due to public request, i must clarify that by the above statement of the word "orgy", a event sold by the pub where all drinks are free (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=478212#post478212) was referenced. The name of that event was derived from the official term "drunken orgy" and has no explicit content at all and thus does not conflict with the forum rules.

so i just add:
dont think so dirty! it was not what you meant!

for a detailed explanation, follow the above link.

Disorganizer, not everyone is going to know of the origanal meaning of that word. These days, someone is going to take it to mean the wrong thing. Someone is bound to possibly be offended by it - possibly a parent who's browsing the CFC forums with their kids. In the C&C forum, chaos erupted because a group didn't like the content of a few users in one of the mod-creation groups. The moderators had to tell them, and the rest is history. The point is, it's a questionable word of which one meaning is against the forum rules. Even if you have a link to what it means (I haven't found that yet..), not everyone is going to look through thousands of posts. The demogame is a large forum - No one in their right mind is going to read all 14,000+ posts. It's not that I'm "thinking dirty". I heard of that word before, and that's the only instance I heard it used. Other people may think the same.

GM: well, the word orgy does not refer to any explicit material or meaning. show me a link to something saying contrary things WITHOUT also defining the normal meaning of it.
you wont find it.

Btw:
Here is the link: http://www.dictionary.com/search?q=Orgy

Word History: The word orgy has become connected in the minds of many of us with unrestrained sexual activity, but its origins are much less licentious. We can trace the word as far back as the Indo-European root *werg-, meaning “to do,” also the source of our word work. Greek orgia, “secret rites, worship,” comes from *worg-, one form of this root. The Greek word was used with reference to the rites practiced in the worship of various deities, such as Orpheus and Dionysus. The word in Greek did not denote sexual activity, although this was a part of some rites. The rites of Dionysus, for example, included only music, dancing, drinking, and the eating of animal sacrifices. Having passed through Latin and Old French into English, the word orgy is first recorded in English with reference to the secret rites of the Greek and Roman religions in 1589. It is interesting to note that the word is first recorded with its modern sense in 18th-century English and perhaps in 17th-century French. Whether this speaks to a greater licentiousness in society or not must be left to the historian, but certainly the religious nature of the word has gone into eclipse.

Well, enough of that then. Maybe the CFC mods spend their time writing the disallowed words and verbs dictionary, I don't want to see it when it's finished. Certainly not here in the pub.

A drink, anyone? I'm in a fiery mood today, so I'll give you a doughnut flambe with it if you're kind to me.

well, shabba. you are right.
as i lost the tournament in all my disciplenes (despite the fact i was better than others from specs and things i had), i will need a DBJ. will you drink one with me, shabba? They will go on the house.

Shabbaman

Two DBJ's coming up! So you're in a losing streak?

Shaitan
Oct 17, 2002, 03:54 AM
You had an excellent showing, dis. Nothing to be ashamed of in your performance.

Well, our tally was 15 competitors. There were no spectators at the bar. I guess they were all clustered around the pit roast. 15 at 45g each makes the tab 675g.

I think you may need to lower the fest prices a bit. I hadn't thought of it when we discussed it but many of our regular party goers aren't drinkers. Using the fest prices makes the bar tab quite a bit higher than if we just had an open bar and tallied the drinks.

Nah. Well, at least i own your land. Maybe i build a wall around your castle to get justification :-P

But to be serious, it was all a part of luck. Better stats and horse on my side... and luck on yours :-)

Or you maybe bribed the judges, but i wont find evidence for that one ;-) Like illegal weaponry etc. may also be a possibility.

I will show you next time (although if i know my luck, i wont).

Shai:
About the fest-prices. I think its not too much if you consider one beer costs 10 gold.

so 20 gold per consumer will be the price for 2 single beers, which is lower than the average drinking-practice.

you must consider that people not having to pay for stuff maybe just dont post it. i assure you all of the delivered barrels were empty after the event.
:-)

Grandmaster
Oct 17, 2002, 05:20 AM
Yeah, it was largely luck...... and what illegal weaponry? I didn't have one my experimental "muskets" slung across my back...... no.......... Anyway, it was a good competition, and who knows what'll happen next time?

Business is slowing down. Must have something to do with the recession... Therefore, it's karaoke time again! For each consumption, you can sing a song for free!

And to fire things up, the first contestant gets a free riot-beer on my account! The winner will receive three *DBJ shots, the runner up two *DBJ shots, and the consolation prize is one *DBJ shot You will be judged on originality and performance!

OK, here we go...

This one goes out to the Demogame!

On a long and lonely highway, East of Omaha
You can listen to the engine
Moanin' out as one long song.
You can think about the woman

*10 minutes later *

Here I go again, playin' the star again
There I go, turn the page..

New Pub Thread!

The Rebel Pub management proudly annnounces we finally managed to split our threads. The Rebel Pub (Pub) (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31753) will from now on only hold the pub orders and will be the meeting place for fanatikans and foreigners in Bavaria.

The Rebel Pub (Distillery and Brewery) (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34668) will be the place to order our event-items as well as subscription and wholesale items.

So enjoy the new setup!

Brother Adam puts 20g on the counter...

Thanks Barman.

Both the Spiritualists drink the beer

We needed that! The attack on Morgana was a terrible outrage against the innocent. If the Jedi had not been there.....

Brother Adam is lost in his remembered thoughts...

Aye, the terrorist leader is caught. I hope that the police deal with him so that justice is done. I hope he gets sent to prison.

We will have to go and see if we can get new clothing now. The rips and burn marks only serve to remind us of that terrible day.

I don't get over here as much these days, what with training various lords the art of unarmed combat, and chasing those god-forsaken terrorists through the hills of Kultis. Wasn't able to catch any, though.

Makes me think my decision to stay behind from the Crusade was correct. We will need someone here to help watch and protect from these fiends.

Sister Eve comes up to the stage...

This is a song of worship that the Spiritualists sang at the Harvest Festival not long ago...

"Spirit of Harvest, Spirit of field,
Give thanks now to Terra, in nature revealed.

Give thanks to the sun, the wind and the rain,
And thanks to the crops that feed us again.
The grain safely cut is gathered inside,
We thank you, Oh Terra, for all you provide!"

Steps down from the stage

Hi, Dis! I will take one of your free beers. :D

I may have to lay off the harder liquors, for a while. Maybe it was that blow to the head I received at the Tourney, but I have been having difficulty with ... well, with reality, I suppose. I was on my way to the Pub, here, a while ago, and everything seemed normal. Then, it was like the world disappeared, and there was nothing, and no-one, around. Now, I am here safely, and it is like nothing ever happened.

Well, like I said, maybe it is too much liquor, or perhaps that blow Plexus gave me in the Brawl.

Well, in fact it may be the *****. Our alchemists in Lancre recently found out that this stuff really starts to bend the magical dimension arefact to an extend where you could slip directly through the holes in l-space.
They still research that one, but we noticed you can be at lancre at one minute, and at least from our memory be at the pub in the other. Strange things... which could happen.
