Welcome to the famous "Rebel Pub" in Bavaria!

This pub is the oldest pub founded in Fanatika. It has a history going back until almost 4000BC, when the city was founded.

Our forefathers met in a small hut next to a spring when deciding over the birth of our civilization, and that is the place where the pub was founded.

In 4000BC, this became the birthplace of the famous "Riot Beer", which is brewed out of the clear waters of bavaria, originating from Mt. Victory. In the 1500's BC, we also extended it with the only distillery for the famous "Distilled Banana Juice".

Of course, as we are located in the diplomatic centre of our nation, we also have the license to produce some fine foreign brewerages, like the famous "Banana Juice". The ingredients from this drink are secret and the recipy was braught to us on mysterious ways out of the far lands of apolytonia. In its distilled version, you will propably need someone to carry you home, whereas in its original version, its also suited as longdrink.

You can also join us at the chatroom #rebelpub, where all our waiters and me await you as operators to have a nice and interesting talk.
Orders used in the chat should be placed as post in the forum for trackability. If we take orders in the chat, it is logged by a waiter and the log is passed to the bookkeeper for reference.

Waiters
The waiters here are there to discuss and argue with you as well as to serve your needs.
They will give you receipts of what you baught and notify you if you talk without payment.
The waiters get a pay of 20% of the net income each (40% together).

Bookkeeping
The bookkeeper gets 12.5% of the net income. For that, he collects the receipts and posts the transactions to the FRA.

The pub is a self-organized business. The waiters will work by deciding for themselves how they will run this pub. The only rules except the general pub-rules i set up are rules on how orders are placed and handled together with the FRA.

Rules for Order-Handling
1) the first waiter seeing a post will have to deliver it
2) each waiter gives a receipt for the recipent of the order in a standardized format (see later in this mail) in the pub-thread
3) the waiters can organize for themselves how they work together to optimize the service for our clients

conslusion: main point is that orders and receipts have to be logged in any way and that the bookkeeper must be noticed of where to find them if not in the pub-thread.

Format of Receipt:
The Receipt has to have the following information:

Client: [name of ordering person]
Order: [list of what was ordered]
Gold: [sum of gold client pays according to pricelist]


Transaction logging to FRA
Shaitan collects all receipts to post them in the FRA.

Speaking of brews; I like mine a bit on the dark and hoppy side. Any plans for different types? Your basic bar should have some ales, lagers and porters. I like the occasional hefe-wiezen as well. Don't forget your extra special Oktoberfest beer! Maybe something along these lines:

So far, I am enjoying your land very much. You obviously have a lot of experience in DG's, as I have noticed several Civ2 DG's as well. Tell me, when did you reach the decision not to include political parties?

We avoided political parties right from the start. We learned from the previous Civ2 demogame what a nightmare they could turn into. Our decision proved fortuitious based on what we've seen in the other Civ3 demos.

Are you planning on removing them?

Not yet... They are quite popular with the people, and have so far only contributed to our DG. But if party politics get out of hand, we may well have to amend to remove them. CFC's experience in this matter would be a good political argument should it come to this.

Another thing I've always wondered about is turnchats. I've seen them here and at Poly and I can't quite get my mind around it - are they really that useful? The 1BC Constitution is set up so, that the various Departments make and present plans, the Assembly as a whole votes on them, then the President carries them out. If something pops up that was not covered in the plans, the Pesident freezes the game and awaits a new Assembly decision. This requires either very detailed plans (useful early on or in delicate manoeuvers) or plans that allow the president some slack (useful as the game becomes larger).

Another question - how large is your citizen participation? I've noticed we collect votes from about 50% of the citizens in important polls (elections) and more like 35-40% in less vital ones. This comes dangerously close to the 30% required to make an official poll valid. While terminating inactive citizens is something I've kept in mind for a while now, how do you go about this? Have all citizens reply to a census thread or something?

at the moment there pretty much all active but later on people will come and people will go we normally have about 20-39 at least active citizens

We don't purge inactives from the citizen roster. Instead, we use the returns from the monthly elections to find our active citizen count for that month. This gives us a reasonably accurate determination of the participation that we can expect.

General Announcment on retail prices:
The Barrels are only sold to resellers=businesses. If any business wants to resell our fine beers, thats the price for which they get it ;-)
No private sales of barrels for that price. Private persons can order a barrel of course, but they would pay the normal price x10=10litres.

We are open for business! The beer pipings need to be flushed in order to be cleaned, so I guess there are some free, albeit somewhat distasteful, beers in there.

@Shabbaman - I had to get rid of "dense". People weren't buying it anymore after I worked up the Constitution. Just having "happy" there would have made me feel a bit fruity.

Such a long weekend. It was like ... Fanatika just disappeared! I wandered for days. Searching. I found a temporary haven in Apolytonia, but it just wasn't the same as being "home". Then last night, everything was normal again! But I still feel like there was a slice of time removed from our lives, like nothing happened for two whole days!

I understand, bclg. If you look at the RPG as a whole, it's overwhelming! I'm downright amazed that "a few kids" were able to put it together in the first place! :D

I guess if you are having problems, then the first thing to do is break down where the problems lie. Then perform a kind of "triage": what needs to be fixed now, and what can wait. (Don't worry about what can't be fixed; it's beyond your control.) Then look at what needs to be fixed now, and figure out whatyou can fix (given time and abillities), and what you need to try to "farm out" to others. Then you only have to convince others to help. :)
